Do you know Nathan Chen fans complained the ISU lowered the jumps BVs to put down Nathan Chen because all he was doing at the time was jumping? If the Japanese fed was doing their job, they would support their own skaters (Yuzu is not the only one who is underscored) and there would not be such underscoring. Officially the ISU said at the time they wanted to reward artistry more but we all know what happened next....
-
Ah yes the small face. Does someone here remember the young skater who said that about him?
-
and better axis which allowed him to almost land it correctly.
-
Same too, although I'm watching Figure skating for decades. Discovering Yuzu with PW at Sochi was a revelation to me. I had favourite skaters previously, I will have favourite skaters after the Yuzu era ends, but I already know Yuzu will remain at the top of my favourites for my lifetime.
-
Maybe Yuzu will decide to skip the team event to protect his right ankle, knowing that both Shoma and Yuma can be there? Well, we cannot guess his decision.
-
Sorry for posting a silly question, I surely missed something. Why the Chinese fanuys cannot buy OG tickets and attend the figure skating competitions?
-
Yes, Yuzu said he had issues with his jumps last year and he went into depression. But he could go through this and be successful again in training, both with his 4A and 4F (before last injury). For someone you believe is under mental abuse, such achievements would not be possible at all. I don't know if you know people who are actually under mental abuse? I do. This is why I am more optimistic than you about Yuzu abilities to handle unfairness in scoring and I will never consider him as a sportsman unable to cope with underscoring. And briefly about Nathan we could all see his confidence can be shaken like Worlds 21 SP and SA 21. Nathan knows the OG22 is his last chance to get a medal and that will put a huge pressure on him + the OG are less likely to succumb to the lobbying of the US Fed and US TV because they're not depending on figure skating for their financial well-being because this is not the winter sport that will generate the biggest amount of revenue for the OG. Anyway, we will see what happens. I would say I'm cautiously optimistic.
-
I agree Yuzu could still compete after this season ends, but obviously he will retire on a Gold medal only, whatever OG or Worlds. As for the judging in OG, the Olympic committee does not depends on the ISU and TV rights for fs only, therefore I'm more optimistic. I don't know if I should, lol. As a side note, the GPF19 was my first competition attendance and we got that nightmare of a scoring...I will always remember the support we gave Yuzu the day of the free skate and at the medal ceremony.
-
hmmm.... I believe Yuzu is far stronger than that. He can handle disappointment very well. Of course the underscoring affects him, but it would not be to the point of mental abuse. He already said he went depressed in 2020, due in parts to being confined and alone without his coaches. The confinement was hard for millions of people everywhere. What he said previously was landing Nessie is more important than anything else, and earlier than that, he would go to the OG22 only if he believes he can win. He now has the fire in him again, and that's a great news.

Mary oh Mary, I'm an adult, I don't fantasize people, lol. I am just trying to understand why on earth Nathan said such idioties. Also to answer another satellite, I just feel people emotions and to me there's a difference between 2017-2018 and 2019-2021. That's sure Yuzu is not goofing around with Nathan. That does not mean he is just polite. You know what, to each person its perception. I'm fine with everyone's opinion.
-
Exactly, what makes me think Yuzu actually likes Nathan, is the smiles he gives him, the shiny eyes....that goes beyond politeness for me I agree it is my opinion and not a proven fact. I have many friends from different sexual orientation, and I follow figure skating for decades, I'm very well aware of the horrific treatment LGBTQ+ people can get, in figure skating and everywhere else. This is why Javi, Yuzu, Gaby (from P/C) and others support gay and all LGBT skaters openly, and they're 1000% right to do so. Opposing Nathan who decided to prove to all homophobic idiots that straight figure skaters can succeed, which is complete bs in my opinion. I now have one question if someone can explain this to me: I can't see Nathan or any straight skater benefitting from the ISU because the said skater is straight. Everyone knows Nathan benefits from the huge support he gets from the US fed, and therefore from the ISU. So he gets a benefit coming originally from his nationality and not a benefit from his sexual orientation. On the other hand, I am waiting to see if skaters who came out this June will get harsh treatment from the judges next season. I want to believe they won't, the judges better dare not.
-
I refuse to see your big picture or you refuse to accept a different opinion? Don't worry, I will stop there with you. I'm happy to disagree and well, we cannot always agree on everything.
-
And now for something completely different (I hope it's not posted somewhere else) https://twitter.com/Fannydoingstuff/status/1421655787903062018?s=20
-
Yes, and it's why his actions will show if he understood the issue or not.
-
I quoted Fran as an example of First reaction then second reaction then third reaction to prove the first reaction when discovering something is not always correct and changing mind, even slightly, is not bad. Nothing more. I wish you to think again, I'm not ordering you to change your mind. As a side note, if Nathan were homophobic, Yuzu would know it and would not love him like he does.
-
Welcome to the Planet and no your English is not bad at all, it's fine.
-
hmmm.. I'm a Westerner and I absolutely love H&E and I'm over the moon he's keeping it for the OG season. From the first time watching it at JNat, I was convinced it was olympic material. Also, I'm always doubtful about Westerners this or that. The Western world has several different cultures.

Everything is in the topic Team USA
-
I wish he could, to become the very first skater to land all 6 quads in competition.
-
About your idea, I believe the best discipline for Yuzu would be vaulting:
-
You mean Nathan is overscored because he's straight ?
-
If Nathan walks the talk, that will address the issue. Talking about the issue is great, acting is better.
-
It's not what he wrote. If Nathan apologised, it's because he felt misunderstood. Whatever it's true or not, that's another story. When Marvel says "walk the talk", that means he's asking Nathan to act now as talking (the apology) is not enough.
-
I especially agree Nathan should do more now: "Unlike some others, I found Chen’s apology a step in the right direction, but he now needs to do more. He can start by reaching out to LGBTQ skaters and listening to their stories. And then he can follow up by being a strong public voice for inclusion in a sport that has kept LGBTQ skaters in the closet. Stop telling people you’re straight right off the bat. If he just figures his apology is enough, what he said will ultimately be meaningless."
