  1. Based on what he is saying, it seems he may be around for another season...or at least for a few more competitions and he should rest assured everyone already associates beautiful jumping with him. We call him GOAT for a reason. Other skaters may have power, but few can execute them as beautifully and STRONGLY as Yuzuru. Wow. Chinese reporter just asked it directly...still doesnt know lol. Absolutely fair, for him to not know. This is going to be interesting going forward. As long as he is happy and content, that's all that matters.
  2. Im glad he is happy with the 4A he did, and it absolutely sucks he is so worried about criticism for stating a fact about his injury.
  3. If he sounds as sad and resigned tomorrow (tonight? Time zone?), I wont be able to stomach watching it. Hopefully, he'll have bounced back a bit now that some days have passed, it may not be so raw a wound...i really hope the media is kind to him. I'd be ok with softball questions. I'm nervous for it, not because I expect a great earth shattering announcement, but I don't want him to be badgerd and beaten over the head with "how do you feels" and anything remotely calling his 4A a "failure" (avoid anti yuzu places...can be yikes) or the like. Or more elevated expectations for someone who has already gone so far above and beyond. All I want is for him to feel more at ease and whatever he decides; another season or a pause to let his injury heal: I'm fine with.
  4. Wait, I thought Nobu had another conversation with him when he said (paraphrasing here)to Yuzuru that he'd cry, and Yuzuru retorted that no, Nobu would cry...so Nobu's conclusion was he was doing better? Is this a new one? Or after? Gaah, I gotta find the receipt. So much info going around.
  5. Speculative devils advocate question lol.
  6. I think it would be more to do with the injury. He seemed a bit perkier after hearing the 4A was certified, so I cant see him as wanting less than landing it, but the injury is probably what would keep him back from the comp. Then again, he shocked in Korea so...who can say? Lol
  7. LOL!! Wanting Yuzuru healthy is a lack of vision. Noted.
  8. The timing of this reeks of a slap to the face. They arent being subtle anymore on trying to show Yuzuru the door...wtf...can they be less pathetic? They realize when he goes, so too do a lot of their revenue...
  9. Nooo, I asked a speculative question. Which is not criticizing. Not sure since when concern/worry is the same as criticizing. People want to put Nathan on blast for not being dedicated only to skating, while Yuzuru was wholly focused. It's a compare/contrast and there is no "right" answer beyond what suits them best. Damn one to raise another? I dont agree with that.
  10. I'm not sure, but I sort of hope not. Given his new foot injury, would skating in the gala be feasible? Only he can say, but I really want him to relax and come down from all this stress in peace and privacy. It was a hell of a time and not for the best.
  11. No worries, it's an emotional ride for everyone. Let's just refocus on where it counts: Yuzuru. I high key want him to end up in a power position in the JSF. Oooh the irony to be given keys to power in a group that so long wanted him out.
  12. ....you realize Yuzuru also was pretty privileged...right? He doesn't have his feds backing, sure. Not contesting that, but skating isn't a cheap sport. Someone foot the bill for him before he started making a name for himself... He went to Waseda, a damn good University....can we back off on Nathan"s personal life? If this was Vincent Zhou...kinda curious on what the tune sung would be then...Lastly, to play devil's advocate, isnt it better to have another goal beyond skating? We ALL saw how devastated Yuzuru was to think the 4A and his goals were in vain, if he had another passion beyond skating...would that have helped buffer the hurt? Purely speculative, but a consideration. Heck, maybe he does, he's private enough lol. God. Can I get back to supporting Yuzuru now?
  13. Why would that be off putting? Im confused. Is he not allowed to have outside goals beyond skating? I've seen a lot of snarking and vicious glee that Nathan isnt getting as much "exposure", so if I come across rude or overly defensive... This is why. He's 21? 22? Jesus. People need to lay off. Yuzuru is GOAT, yes, but if we have to tear someone down to prop Yuzuru up...seems low to me. People are allowed to love or hate his skating, but we can stick to overscoring (judges) and the like.
  14. This has been a whirl wind. I went through yesterday in a fog, reeling from it all, but now I know for sure. When Yuzuru retires I am beyond done. Figure skating is a joke now, and as much as I like Shoma, Nathan, and Junhwan, I HATE Yuma. Hate him. With the same ire I hold for the judges, God as my witness I am done after Yuzuru. I can't bring myself to watch a sport consumed with arbitrary personal vendetta's. I"m glad his 4A was certified, but it feels like a consolation prize after the slap in the face of intentional underscoring to keep him off the podium. At least he sounded (to me, personally) like he had some of his pep back after learning the 4A was certified...but this was a nightmare. However much we are reeling, it must be infinitely harder and worse for him. Spending 11 years at the top for so long and in one corrupt swoop knocking him down and casting him aside...he has been in the public eye for so long, and is now for this debacle...I wish him the best and a speedy recovery.
  15. Well pardon me, but that is some serious BS....so vexing but oh well. Absolutely must have everyone on board or lets say it never happened. Sweet lord.
  16. I finally watched it and loved it. I actually really like his new costume and hair, but to each their own. Im just waiting with baited breath for the free skate when he may/will attempt the 4A. Dislcaimer-I know he'll do whatever he wants and is beholden only to himself...but a part of me wants/wishes him to land it successfully and then retire. No Beijing Olympics. No more ISU that only wants him around for the sake of money, but then trash him by making a mockery of scoring. Just 4A and peace out like a boss having shut up all the naysayers. And not for the sake of fans that only want him to try for a 3rd gold for the sake of history. I'm so. So tired by FS and all it's drama lately. Of course even when he does some day in the future-go or not going to Olympics- I doubt we will have seen the last of him. Skating is his passion, so I wont mourn a retirement since it wont be the end.
  17. This whole season is shaping to be one nightmare. I'm out when Yuzuru retires. I'm sick of Yuma, Nathan, and Vincent being shoved down my throat. The whole Nathan vs Vincent is a mess of a whole other topic. JSF throwing weight behind Yuma's abhorrent to me...I'm just over all this drama and I need a break and a reset. Once Yuzuru retires is when I'll take it. People can say what they will about Nathan and Vincent, but even with Vincent's progress, I cant make sense of how his scores can overtake Nathan. He has improved, but not that much (imo). Does scoring even matter? Or just hype of "reigning champs duking it out"? Add a Yuma into the mix and it's all becoming a twisted mockery. Anything to unseat and upset Yuzuru....vent done. Sorry...
  18. Same! When I was waffling on Otonal watch, I never needed to log or sign up, and now I do? I dont get the change...unless I found a reseller of the watch or something, the 1st time...
  19. Im jealous ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ. Id buy the sucker if I could figure out how ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
  20. I second this question ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
  21. This is true, but we have all seen the "calls" judges make...I dont trust them, even if he doesnt/we know it isnt, they could claim it..or because they cant ID it easily enough or what have you. Judges are well versed in deflection and arbitrary nit picking. There was one judge who didnt even give him a value on one of his sit spins, so my faith is lacking in them a bit.
  22. You know....when he recovers and comes back...I'm actually starting to dread the 4A he'll undoubtedly be doing...because if he doesnt do it right, falls, UR, ect....people will tear him apart. I know he CAN do it, and I DO believe in him, but figure skating is as much on skill, as it is hoping everything goes according to plan and just going for it with all you've got. I just want him to do this, as he's worked so hard for, and enjoy himself.
  23. Let's not be doom and gloom...it's a sad time enough, but he's gotten injured on "safer" jumps too. A bad fall is a bad fall, regardless of the jump. As for returning to Toronto, I think his Japanese doctors can take care of him. They also have a history with him, nevermind the pandemic. His health staff I trust. JSU is another matter, but then I feel the same for an "XXSU".
  24. All this speculation of Olys...I really dont care if he goes or not. If he does, great. If not, cool. All I've really heard him talk about is the 4A and landing that as his goal. To my knowledge he isnt gunning for the Olympics like he was previously. I just want him to recover well and accomplish his ambitions.
