Let's not succumb to doom and gloom. Even IF he did, on the positive side: no more ISU/JSFU stress. No more giving them money. We could watch this sport self implode....and honestly, Yuzuru loves this sport too much to be gone forever. Goodbye doesnt mean the end. It means the start of something new.

You got to see him?! Lucky! I always wanted to go...but a goodbye from comps opens up ice shows in the future maybe. Whatever he decides, he loves the sport and ice too much to be gone forever.

I think in a sense it's a farewell to Beijing and the time and effort there...it could be an allusion to maybe spending a year or 2 more in skating, but maybe not. I dont even think he knows, so I read it as more a farewell to this Olympics and just wanting to give a nod to his journey to this point-which encompasses all the old programs.

Stupid, silly question, but when is the gala?
-
I would throw down the cash for another DVD...i think one will be made given the trajectory of the last two: beginnings, time of evolution...stands to reason we could get a 3rd tying it all up together.
-
I agree with Yuzurella. He is unlikely to go. I dont believe he has in the past either (or if he did he was a ghost as no one reported seeing him).
-
Fellow American, woot! I cant stand Johnny and Tara"s "commentary". I go out of my way to watch skating with either Japanese or European announcers....but frankly, anywhere else will do lol. And yeah, our media is...something else lol.
-
Lol, we are not surprised by his surly nature lol. I'm also giving him the benefit since auto translate is seldom accurate. Thank you for the context and insight!
-
As it is machine translated I say nothing on Mishin, but his experiment-imo-didnt fail. I think he got what he wanted in the sense of pushing the sport forward. After all, he tried it. So it's out there now, that real attempts are being made before a world stage, watch others follow suit now in their own time. I just feel bad reading a machine translate of "fail" when it comes to Yuzuru lol😅

Try to ignore them. Your blood pressure will thank you...i've read similar to you and even a few things worse...im sure you have stumbled over worse too and it's not worth it

You're absolutely allowed your opinion, and while I can concede that it is uncomfortable and they may have only been trying to not address the elephant in the room because they didnt know how, I dont like it. You make a valid point and certainly, if I were to put myself in their shoes I wouldnt know what to do entirely myself...but while the behavior of ignoring something uncomfortable is sort of...usual for Shoma (lol), I just cant get myself to ever forget how gleeful Yuma was to get silver ahead of Yuzuru the 1st time I watched him...so I am not forgiving of him. I know it was corrupt judges that put him there, but he came across to me as arrogant, gloating, and I have a hard time changing that perception of him. I try, but then things like this sour me and harden my heart all over again. It just reaffirms he is boastful, arrogant, and gloating to me. Admittedly, I probably do thrust high expectations on them...but I still cant help my own bitterness and feeling that a simple dial back was not so hard a thing to do.

Understandable, and if I came off as snappish, please know that wasnt my intent. Nor did I mean to imply you were defending them, offering perspective, but I didnt take it as a defense. Im a bit chaotic right now, so please excuse me 😅

Yuzuru certainly has raised the bar, but it's Yuma's lack of even bothering with basic decorum I frown at the most. He revels anytime "beats" Yuzuru. Sorry, but my 1st impression of him was awful and not likely to change anytime soon. Yuma doesnt pretend not to care...he is blatantly open that he does not care to pretend at politeness when it comes to Yuzuru. Shoma, I am a lot more forgiving of, probably makes me a hypocrite, but after all of his and Yuzuru's interactions, I cant see it all as fake...so I"m willing to be more forgiving, even if I still dont like the follower behavior. But to the point, absolutely as rivals and competitors it is understandable for them to be excited and revel in their own victories and to have skaters they are more star struck by than others. Knives out is probably best than the ones kept hidden, I suppose.

I can agree with those recommendations.
-
Of course if he is happy that is most important...i'll just ask my Dr for some good meds lol

That poll pissed me off. I didnt bother answering it. I dont care what he does as long as it is what HE wants to do. They can f**k right off with click bait and using his name for clout and popularity. I know this is terrible, but imma say it. I am looking forward to the day he retires. Because im not sure my blood pressure can take much more of this asinine behavior. I stay for Yuzuru and him alone at this point.
-
Yes. Yes he is lol. Yuma"s evolving. NC is a mini boss compared to backstab you with a smile Yuma lol. Plus, JSF backing, pitting their fighter against back to the wall Yuzuru...Idk...im kinda seeing it lol Just gotta find a matching over the top anime op now lol
-
Absolutely, I cant even pretend to get myself in an athletes head at his level, because I am a creature on comfort and caution...nothing ventured, nothing gained. I am in awe of his tenacity, but I do cringe in trepidation.
-
I demand the villains be changed. Season 1 was a good set up of evil juge shadow figures. 2nd was nice on the reveal, but man did season 3 drag. Our hero needs an uplift.
-
In Yuzuru Hanyu's words, probably, maybe: "health? What is that?" Lol! It seems if his bones arent absolutely broken he will still push them...I do wish he"d at least pretend to consider it. The illusion would be nice lol
-
Valid points...and certainly, I do like Shoma, but it was such an odd contrast...still take issue with Yuma, ngl.
-
Even if I wanted to play Devil's advocate-and I dont-an attempt could have been made. Even just a glance. Yuzuru isnt shy about rejecting unwanted attention if he really doesnt want it. Yuzuru really did seem so inwardly focused and how could he not be? So it was a bit tone deaf of Shoma and Yuma...ok it was a lot tone deaf. I was uncomfortable watching it, like i get you want to be lost in excitement, but there is a literal storm cloud next to you, dial it back...but no...blatant disregard. Not shocked by Yuma at all.
-
I think he is already there. He shouldn't have gotten silver over Shoma. His program compared to Shoma's even leaned safer. Never mind entry, and jump differences.
-
They were just rather blase and checked out. Shoma I can give a pass too, since he and Yuzuru overall seem to get along well. Yuma though? I dont have much nice to say on him and will leave it at that. Dont know their reasons, cultural, maybe trying to not draw attention to an awkward/uncomfortable situation, but it just hit hard.
-
I wouldnt say he looked happier per se, but he seemed more at peace with what happened and is content that he did his absolute best. He sounded more like himself.
