It reads so sloppy now. He didn't even bother to adjust the article, really. It reads....ugh.๐คฆ. Nevermind acknowledging the corrections. Removal of Yuzuru's name, but still mentions "can you name the Gold medalist?" Dude, can you proof read? At all? He jumps from one thought to the next. New paragraph, buddy.
-
True. I checked out his article and twitter-he just wants to boast/brag about Adam in a way that, as you mentioned first, fits with the narrative he wants to spin. Just sucks when these opinion articles/writers get seen as credible journalists
-
Even on Amazon US you can find magazines and his book-unless that is gone now. That guy did zero research and it shows.

Our media is heavily biased. I think most country's tend to (naturally) be a bit biased, but lord the degree some take it over here is insane. Also. Im mad. How rude. America is not the end all be all. Javier anyone? Bronze Olympian for more than a team event. ๐

Merry Christmas everyone! Boy, not even into the New Year and Yuzuru is talking about 4A and rearranging his SP. Nothing out of the ordinary ๐. Just another day in the life of being Yuzuru's fan. He has some lofty goals, but if the 4A is his driving force then I wish him all the success. He is calculating and intelligent, so I have no real fear he will over exert himself. He has a lot of pride, but he tempers his pride with intelligence. If I am being honest-I want to see him do the 4A successfully. But maybe only once in (per) competition if all that risk is only for an added point ๐๐ .

This has been a roller coaster. Im so torn. On the one hand I am happy for Shoma who has been referred to as "your silver medalist of everything" to have defended his rank and taken gold with Yuzuru on the field no less. On the other hand I want to weep for Yuzuru. He has worked just as hard as anyone else, overcome ankle injuries, to return and have a season of no injuries (please no one knock on wood!๐ฆ), yet still not be enough. I console myself that this is a process. He is getting stronger and will be even better next time around as he is still developing and tweaking how he trains and performs to lessen the chances (as best he can) for ankle injuries. Overall though, congrats to Shoma ๐๐! He and Yuzuru are such respectable athletes โค

I dont believe that at all. War horse programs were recycled a lot by various skaters. Additionally, numerous skaters repeated music choices and still received decent scoring. As Dick Button mentioned, he too repeated programs 3 or 4 times. If it isnt broken, or you feel you need to redo something-do it. What this comes down to is flawed judging, and dare I say it, favoritism and bribery (guess i do). Although maybe not bribery in this instance...I don't trust the judges. I'm not saying Yuzuru deserved a gold, because he didn't, but he did deserve a higher scoring than what he received. Nathan did well, so congrats to him, but by his own admission there are jumps he wont/doesnt like to touch...I'd like to see his artistry continue to improve. Because again, right now, as even he mentioned-Yuzuru reigns supreme on artistry...so his scores should have better reflected what he brought to the ice.

Skip to 8:00 and watch. Lasts until 8:15 or so..but yeah, he wasnt thrilled. He gave her an X to decline. Not like he was rude to her, but timing was poor.
-
Wow, whatever person or group did that needs to rethink their choices...that...common sense should tell someone the K&C isnt the right time...pretty rude.
-
I know I said I'd be happy if either wins, but I am a liar (no shocker). I was thrilled for Nathan until I realized what it meant for Yuzuru ๐ฆ. I like Nathan, but-its Yuzuru ๐ญ! And I saw those 4A attempts. I hope he wont be reckless. He is a competitor and has the experience, I know this, but being fired up and trying this out...I think he is taking Nathan's lead quite seriously. His free has scored above Nathan's consistently, hasnt it??
-
Ooh TSL ๐คฃ. Still, I am looking forward to what Nathan brings. I don't hate him, recently I've been more interested in his programs since-yes he is still doing jump after jump, but he has been working on his artistry more. He doesn't hold a candle to what Yuzuru does with it-but he's improving. So I do want to see what these two bring to the ice.
-
Just goes to show what "heated rivalry" these two have ๐. Oh, as competitors I am sure they each want to succeed and strive for the Gold, but the constant drama and blowing it out of proportion by those in the media...๐.

Given her behavior now, isn't that "beneath" her? If she has these opinions and thoughts now, did she have them when she performed at his ice show? Was she looking down on everyone the entire time? She is not a gate keeper for the sport. How someone got into figuring skating shouldn't matter. I'm quite upset to hear about this, given how many people are fans of Yuzuru. She generalized a whole group of people in such a blanket statement...if that is how she feels why did she ever accept Yuzuru's invite to attend his ice show? I am a more casual fan and I have always been more interested in the mens. I liked Plushenko growing up and was a bit out of the scene until I saw Yuzuru perform-quite by accident. I and other fans don't need to justify why we follow or like him. It doesn't make us any more or "less" a figure skating fan. I follow other skaters too, but heavens forbid if one peaks my interest more.

I hope no singing is done for wishing him a HBD. A competition is not the right place. Yuzuru is an athlete. Not a pop idol. This isnt his own venue, he is sharing it with other competitors for the sake of the competition. If it were his ice show, maybe. But that is not the case. I would be livid if another skaters fans did this and detracted from the competition and other skaters. I find it in poor taste and I would be mortified and embarrassed if any Yuzuru fans do this. I dont consider myself a "fanyu", because by experience some fandoms can become toxic. I find it best to just enjoy who I like and engage periodically, but not get too invested...but the last thing any fan of Yuzuru needs is to give Yuzuru, and the rest of his fan community, a bad name by his fans actions.

I absolutely love that anime and soundtrack. It has a lot of softer instrumentals that Yuzuru could easily do a number of things with and you know he'd do it all 110%. I don't think that 12 song is this one though....but it's familiar. Gotta edit. I pulled my ost out real fast. I'm an idiot ๐คฆ. It's late. That's my excuse...but I don't want to get my hopes up on anything. Though it WOULD be super cool if he did...because the novel is finally getting a new release in Japan in Dec.
-
The "oh we were always with him 110%", and the whole lie of we always believed in him". Bye, Felicia. The first "bad" season (by Yuzuru standards) and they bailed. Now he is doing well and it's back to singing his praises...looking at ypu Johnny ๐. That being said, just wait for when Nathan and Yuzuru share ice...we'll see where they stand.

Oh lord ๐. NBC always goes for sensationalist articles. Rivalry? What rivalry? They put a spin on it with word choice to make it out for a sort of show down between them and making sure to note Chen's scores-really NBC? This stuff gets me so annoyed. Im a US fan, but when I read stuff like that-it just makes me root harder for Yuzuru...I dont wish Nathan ill. I like him, but by comparison I dont think he is as well rounded as Yuzuru. Not yet. He's working at it though. I just really dont like these imagined or forced rivalries. Nathan and Yuzuru have both said they respect each other. Nathan has mentioned Yuzuru ignites a fire in him-pushes him. All skaters at this level are competitive, but that doesnt mean they're all rivals. Best thing to do is ignore it...so really, I should take my own advice ๐ ๐
-
Oh, he did. I wonder if this is enough for nay sayers to take a few (or several) seats. Yuzuru, as Orser and others have said, is his own bar now. That's the challenge. So, if certain members of media could get the memo that Yuzuru is still a force, that would be appreciated ๐
-
๐He finally did it! The elusive Skate Canada gold is here!!๐

That is a brutal, but insightful read, even if not an easy one and I appreciate your work. I was thousands of miles in the USA...but I bawled my eyes out and refused to watch the footage as best I could...but it was everywhere. I have friends that lived along the coast. I was terrified I was watching them die...that I really was seeing so many lives lost in just an instant. Swallowed up by those waves. Unseen, but there. To be frank...I still dont know if all of my contacts along the coast made it out. Some i got back in contact with though, and they were ok. To those I lost contact with...I chose to believe they are alive. To bring it back yo Yuzuru, one friend I reconnected with...we dont speak often, but after the Sochi Olypmics, even though she doesnt like figure skating and isnt a fan of Yuzuru-she told me she liked that he was a survivor. That he gave her a bit of hope somehow...
-
I share your hope๐. His axels and hydroblade are kinda becoming his staples. Not in a bad way, the axels for sure I see why he has them in competitions, but to swap out the hydroblade for a spiral shouldnt be bad
-
Ya know...and I'm sorry, because im sure this has been asked countless times before, but for the upcoming season, what are some elements you want to see Yuzuru incorporate? In a dream program, I mean. Personally, I would love to see another delayed single axel incorporated somehow-into a competition program, not just a gala performance. His axels are beautiful ๐
-
Omg. I can see it... Yuzuru: *Gets injured* ugh! Why me?! *lements* Coach: *snaps at him for the over dramatics" Yuzuru: *acting totally scandalized* what are you mad at ME for? ๐คฃ

It's his steadfast dedication and love for his hard hit hometown that really sticks out to me as far as his personality...he is so all over the place. Super compulsive and obsessive with his earbuds and skating, an all around dork who jokes about his favorite shows and interests-you'd never know he was a 2 time Olympic champion-and yet at the flip of a switch he becomes so serious. Especially when his hometown and the hard hit areas are concerned. He knows how to turn on charm, relax, or become serious and if that isnt a sign of maturity, I dont know what is. Of course he is still young and all ๐, but his down to Earth appeal really seems striking. His skating alone is a whoooole seperate article in and of itself on why he is the GOAT. ๐

The entire thing was a nice long compliment to him. Comparing him to a jade though is pinnacle ๐. But I loved the ending where they called him a male fairy and mentioned coming to the mortal realm was hard. The whole thing is an excersise in waxing poetics and I'm here for it. Sorry to chime in, this forum moves so fast and I am beyond behind ๐ , but I absolutely loved what I read and your commentary.
