I'm probably attracted to the Origin watch because not only does it remind me of Origin 1, the colors remind me of Masquerade ! However, as much as I like it, I might not want to spend so much on a watch that I would only wear occasionally, since most of the time I'm attached to my Apple Watch, which records data on my activity etc. A Ten to Chi to watch would be beautiful, just as long as it's not too dainty.

Seems like it's 5,680 RMB, so about 94, 961 Japanese yen, about $868. Okay, that makes sense. Was freaking out when I thought it was yen.
-
800 something dollars sounds like a more reasonable actually and the exchange rate is not that dire. So the mystery remains.
-
Could someone verify the actual price of the Origin watch, the price listed on the linked site, 5680 Yen, seems unreasonably low for a watch and most of the Citizen watches cost more? Yu Zu Ru collection cosmetics: I received a set for Christmas and I can say that they have been very compatible with my skin type (Asian), whereas the regular Sekkisei products (the blue bottles) were a bit too harsh for me. If used sparingly, twice a day, they last quite a long time. And the box was very beautiful, as expected!

I would totally wear the new one. Love large watches and the red minute markers, the gold markers, and the black case, which would go with most of my clothes. Unfortunately, there is no way to get one

Thanks @shanshani, upon closer inspection, you're right, so I changed my post. I also seem to remember that SOI Yokohama was also the only one they didn't cancel.

NEWS: Yuzu is scheduled to be in SOI Yokohama (4/25, 4/24, 4/22, 4/23) This will only be Japanese skaters: Men (Yuzu, Shoma, Yuma, Mura, Keiji, Sato, Tomono, Yamamoto) and women (Higuchi, Kihira, Sakamoto, Mihara...), dance (KoKo). Sorry for the mixture of first and last names. A bit surprised he is doing this (please stay healthy and safe) because of the Covid cases rising in Tokyo, but perhaps he was contracted to do this, from last year when it was postponed. Sadly, not being vaccinated, I don't feel safe to go there, sigh, even if it is only a 2-3 hour plane ride. This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].

A bit more information about WTT: In Japan at least, you apparently have to pay TV Asahi (something like Fuji on demand, I guess) to have live viewing of the practices, competition, and some extra video footage. By doing this, they are trying to force people to buy tickets to the real event; ticket sales begin this coming Saturday. At least Fuji On Demand had a free 2-week trial period during Worlds. This does not include the Gala, which will be shown in movie theaters, and of course you have to pay for this. Having people in a movie theater during an epidemic is incredibly irresponsible and money grubbing ! Don't know if TV Asahi will show recorded footage of WTT at a later date. Wondering if there will be an ISU Youtube stream, but this will probably be blocked in Japan and other countries with participants in the WTT.

Probably want to protect him from getting the virus and maximize profits at the same time. I am becoming very cynical indeed
-
Totally agree that they want to make as much money as possible and they don't care at all about the risk they are putting their own skaters in. Considering the price of the tickets, they would lose loads of profit if the event doesn't take place or takes place without an audience. Hoping that the Osaka government will put a stop to this; they have already started a semi-state of emergency where bars and restaurants have to close before 8 pm. They are making an exception for those international teams, because France, Russia, USA, and Canada are still not allowed to enter Japan, and even if they could, there is a 14 day quarantine! Think they (Seiko and TV Asahi) negotiated with the government --- could a native Japanese speaker confirm whether this is actually true please.
-
Seems like Yuzu will have to go to WTT . And Shoma too, not Yuma ! I'm really worried about him since Osaka is having a major spike in the number of Covid cases, about 50% with the UK variant! Wonder if he was given no choice. I thought he was "safe" from going when he landed in Tokyo, rather than Kansai. I live close enough to Osaka to try for tickets, but since most Japanese have not been vaccinated, I think it's much to dangerous to hold an event that size and is totally irresponsible. 公益財団法人日本スケート連盟 (@skatingjapan) Tweeted: 世界フィギュアスケート国別対抗戦2021の日本代表選手が発表されました。 詳細は下記よりご覧ください。 https://t.co/jsZuPpJRG4 #羽生結弦 #宇野昌磨 #紀平梨花 #坂本花織 #三浦璃来 #木原龍一 #小松原美里 #小松原尊 (Tim KOLETO) #2021WTT #フィギュアスケート https://t.co/24FRTco75z https://twitter.com/skatingjapan/status/1377173536238759936?s=20 This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].

It might be an aftershock of the bigger earthquake that occurred in Feb of this year.
-
Earthquake intensity was 5 in Sendai on the Japanese scale of 8, which measures swaying, movement, etc. It was magnitude 7.3at the epicenter off the coast of Miyagi prefecture, at a depth of 80 km. As mentioned above, there was a 1-m tsunami warning. Must be very scary for everyone up there. Wonder if this is another aftershock or a new quake.

Definitely Japan has enough men and women singles skaters to field a entire team different from the Worlds' ones, but wasn't there some rule that said that a country's team would be disqualified if they fail to send their top finishers at Worlds, unless there was a medical excuse?
-
A slight change of topic you guys: On the NHK news online this afternoon, the Japanese government conveyed to the JOC that athletes returning from overseas still need to quarantine for 14 days, but during this period they are allowed to practice, as long as they do so in isolation, not in contact with others. They will be given PCR tests 2-3 times during this period. This probably means that Yuzu would have to go to WTT

Happy New Year everyone! It just turned midnight here about 19 minutes ago, so it's the first of January in Japan. 2020 was a year filled with crises and problems worldwide, but at least Yuzu winning Nationals was something that we could watch together and cheer about! Here's hoping that 2021 will be a much better one for everyone! Stay safe everyone. I had my good luck soba noodles for dinner instead of just before midnight and a bit of champagne . I've cut up my veggies for Tokyo style ozoni (fish broth based soup with veggies and mochi (rice cakes)), which we have for brunch on New Year's day. Instead of Kohaku Uta Gassen, we watched recorded MOI, my husband for the first time and me for about the 7th time . We decided that we wouldn't have a family gathering this New Years, since our adult kids and us decided it would be safer not to travel back and forth, especially across continents .

I agree that the current situation is totally different from that in the Torino GPF. At Torino, it was a sudden and suprising situation that no one expected to happen and this time, he has known that he wouldn’t be having his coaches there. As @rockstaryuzusays, he isn’t without friends at Nationals. I think we all worry about him, but he has been training alone for 10 months and he is a mature 26 year old now. I’m optimistic that he will do fine and to me, his demeanor is much different from at the Torino GPF and from what I can see from the practice snippets, his jumps look good. Also, don’t think this is comparable to Shoma’s situation when he was coachless for a while because I think Yuzu’s personality is very different from Shoma’s, from what I can see as an outsider who does not know either of them, and Yuzu is very focussed and independent as far as skating goes.

The 15:45 - 17:00 program on 24 Dec on Fuji TV seems to say Hanyu Yuzuru practice from yesterday. However, my Japanese reading ability is not the best, so I hope a native Japanese speaker will revise if I’m wrong. That program is not available in my part of Japan, but could be available on iSakura ( Fuji One)
-
That interview was about 4.5 min, the announcers talked some. Two new progams but no 4axel this time. Happy that others are translating so fast, midnight is not good for my thinking in my non-native language. He looked happy , so I’m a bit less stressed out!

Yuzu is next

Nothing so far and they are talking about the badmitton guy now

Just checked my TV listing (I'm in Japan) and it says that Live News alpha is on Fuji TV (terrestrial channel) at 11:40 pm tonight; FNN = Fuji Network News. The competition hasn't even started yet and I'm already going to miss lots of sleep ! And it seems like I have to endure watching Mezamashi TV too (6 am, Mon to Fri, Fuji TV terrestial)
-
The exhibit will won't come to my part of Japan until Feb 2021, pretty soon actually. Thank you @Yukok for the detailed description of the exhibit and emotional impact. Good to hear that preventative measures were taken to ensure visitors' safety.
-
Just posted the link to the Fuji TV schedule (Japanese time) and English summary for Japanese Nationals in the Japan Nationals thread. It's a bit confusing because Fuji TV keeps on switching between their terrestrial Fuji TV channel and their satellite channels (CS Fuji TV One, BS Fuji TV), but the last two groups of the men are in the prime time spot on the regular Fuji TV channels.

I knew I kept my hair long for a good reason , even though short hair would be much lower maintenance! I do wish they had a Masquerade one, since red is my favorite color, sigh..., although not appropriate for this exhibition's theme. You and a zillion other Fanyus...
