  1. Although I've been aware of the events of that season and read articles, etc, I wasn't following non-Olympics figure skating at the time, so it is interesting to hear your experience and perspective. Thanks for the detailed account. Personally, I sometimes rewatch Yuzuru's difficult skates... I find it inspiring to see him fighting through, and I want to see all the struggles to understand where he has come from... but it is definitely painful.
  2. Me too, me too, I want to go to TCC and will cheer you on (+2) Anyway, this is interesting news, if true (I'm also waiting for official statements). I didn't really expect Zhenya to go to TCC, but why not? I just hope to avoid the inevitable drama from all sides... *sigh* I was kinda interested in Wakaba going when that rumor first turned up, but it sounds like that is very much just a rumor at this point. To be honest, I don't follow skaters besides Yuzuru very closely, so I'm not up to date on everything.
  3. Thanks for the recommendation! I've used CDJapan before but didn't know they had added a proxy service. Looks like a good option.
  4. Links for how to buy and get translations for Aoi Honoo https://yuzusorbet.tumblr.com/post/156152283157/aoi-hono-blue-flame-and-aoi-hono-2-are?is_related_post=1
  5. I wish Olympic Channel would post Yuzu's SP to youtube. Surely they might do that now, since they are even covering 羽生結弦の写真撮るの下手くそ選手権 ???
  6. Ahh I just found this post since I'm new(ish) to the forum, and it made me smile, since we just saw him in the costume again. Reflecting on this for me personally, it's not a "nostalgic" feeling for past me or past Yuzuru that I get watching this program... I get the feeling of fighting with everything in your soul, and rediscovering the strength to fight when it's been lost. This program really touches me in that way. I guess there is also a part of me that feels sad I didn't discover him sooner, too... What Yuzu says about each person's individual experiences affecting how his performance is received is really true ^^
  7. Thank you for posting, you expressed so well how he can evoke such strong feeling and bare his soul in his performances. R+J1 wasn't the first skate of Yuzu's to make me cry, but once I discovered it... yeah. edit- to phrase things better! sorry, I'm tired
  8. ahh I probably shouldn't want to join the illustrious ranks of DoM skaters but it sounds nice... I'm not sure if just zipping around a rink counts though... If I just stop thinking about learning axels and all the super pretty and cool stuff I'll be fine!
  9. Hey everyone! I started skating when I was very little but only ever for fun on outdoor ponds in the winter. I switched from figure skates to hockey skates in high school and played hockey for a year but didn't enjoy it and sort of gradually stopped skating... so I haven't been for a long time. Anyway I've been feeling inspired to skate again (thanks, Yuzu... ) and want to go back to figure skates, so I'm doing my best to research. I live near a year round rink so I can go pretty much any time, but my area seems to be lacking a proper figure skating shop at the moment. I'm not sure about taking lessons, but who knows... I really just want to skate for fun! and jump an axel Anyway, just thought I'd say hi to this thread, it's been fun and informative to read ^^
  10. Ohh, this is a beautiful tag. There are quite a few accidentally focused on The Many Trees of Sendai. At least Yuzu likes trees, right?
  11. My thoughts too Thanks for the explanation, I was struggling to translate!
  12. The name works so well if he does more Continues ~with Wings~ after he retires, since he can continue sharing skating with us and also include teaching sections to pass on the legacy further like he did this time ^^ yeah, I always thought 羽生結弦 was a super pretty name!
  13. I will love anything he does and will kyaa kyaa waa waa over it obviously but I'm hoping/guessing there will be something Japanese like Seimei or Hope & Legacy, something that is so uniquely perfectly Yuzu that I can't imagine anyone else doing it. I'm really looking forward to whatever he chooses since he's talked about just doing what he wants! ^^
  14. I love that they have to specify that there should be no throwing of Pooh bears too lol
  15. I was thinking this too. Yuzu's spins and step sequences are always so memorable and expressive so it was really interesting to see him create a powerful program with just them alone. It reminded me of Notte Stellata and the delayed single axel which I love so so much. So simple and beautiful
  16. so true, I keep rewatching Yuzu's parts and the finale today ;__;
