We could have different backgrounds :P so it's a bit more personalized. Feathers, swans, goats(:tumblr_inline_mqt4grU8ua1qz4rgp:), skates, golden polka dots:goat:

I'm not sure about the fanart because of what he said, that he feels weird by looking at himself like that haha but maybe some people really want to do that.

With the boxes and such, we would have a limit to the message/pic, so we wouldn't have to enforce a character limit. As long as it fits there and it's readable, it would be fine i guess.

I think fan arts should be fine, as long as the artist is notified and credited, they'd probably be proud to show their art to Yuzu himself. Also so many talented artist out there, it'd be nice for Yuzu to know he inspires so many ppl, not sure how many of those arts Yuzu have seen himself. Some funny fan photos too probably haha, I'm sure he'd get a good laugh out of it

You know what, I thought that the two Worlds gold medals are paired with two silver medals, here's to hoping that this year's silver medal will be paired with another Worlds gold medal soon :smiley-angelic001::smiley-angelic001:

If he had recovered in time for 4CC and Worlds, his profile will probably look like:

    4x GPF Champion,

    3x Worlds Champion,

    2x Olympic Champion, and

    1x 4CC Champion

    It'd be perfect

Anything you do publicly will be likely to be attacked in the same way, especially if it becomes popular, because then those claiming copyrights will find out about them. The easier it will be to find out who is behind it - by registering a website, or making a wordpress account in your name and so on - the higher the possibility of actual people being slammed with copyright claims and perhaps accusations of piracy. That's partly why youtube and video hosting sites are better, because they add a level of anonymity, especially since one can make a million accounts on google and re-upload whenever they get shut down. Also since youtube takes immediate action, it satisfies the copyright claimers. If however they find the real people doing this, it can get worse. Not quite the same thing, but some of you might be aware there used to be people uploading jdramas some time back, until the Japanese TV Stations found them and forced them to stop. Or occasionally people even getting arrested for sharing anime and such online. So, personally, I don't recommend starting websites or self-hosting copyrighted videos, no matter how unfair the claims might seem.

to bilibili it goes then, at least only three of the H&L videos we uploaded were struck out, the rest was fine it seems.

Do you know how to contact Lorando? I follow her on twitter, but I cant' send her messages and I don't know her account name here on PH (if she is on PH). I downloaded a lot lot lot of Yuzu videos in the past half year, since I'm always a paranoid person who is afraid to lose precious content, even before this madness started. Having a really good internet connection and several hard drives helped too. Sooo there might be a good chance, that I have videos from Lorando Muffins Youtube account, too. I downloaded literally everything I found :tumblr_inline_mm2wbaeqQM1qz4rgp:

hi, if you have tumblr you can contact her here! https://muffinlorando.tumblr.com or just tweet to her on twitter, she just finished her finals so she'll be able to respond. thank you so much <3

Regarding SBS claiming copyright on all videos, I suspect the contracts left a loophole that allows them to do so. The thing is, they probably bought the right to the footage itself to be broadcasted in Korea. Since the footage is basically the same over all broadcasters (the official ISU footage, with a few exceptions, who also have their own cameras), then they can claim copyright over that footage being broadcasted in Korea, even if the source is another broadcaster. (Since their copyright doesn't just cover their commentary or so, but the footage as well). So, if they have the right to broadcast WC17 in Korea and this loophole exists, then they have the right to demand any video that has the same footage, even if it's from Eurosport or NBC or CBC or whoever else, be removed. Of course, the better thing would be to ask that it be geo-blocked in Korea - ie not available for free in Korea, but it's probably just easier like this. They hardly care about FS popularity.

What ISU needs to do is find a way to close any such loopholes, specifically demand that videos be geo-blocked instead of removed or add a clause about applying it retroactively or even for past broadcasts. Because unless SBS intends to rerun all these events it's utterly stupid to demand them removed, because it does not in any way affect them negatively. Quite the contrary. It's not like people aren't watching SBS live broadcast because they're watching it online, therefore affecting their viewing numbers. Instead, new fans might discover that "oh, look, SBS broadcasts FS! I'll check it out and watch the next competition there!" But I guess it's easier to just scream "Mine! Mine! Mine!" >_>

Now about the videos themselves, I'm not a big fan of bilibili either, because of how much of a pain downloading from there is. Plus the interface. (Although there are some precious gems there that I will try to get my hands on now that you've shared ways to do so ^_^; So, thank you for that!) Wouldn't it be possible to do a more private, members-only platform to share the links and still use youtube, with coded video names and making the videos either friends only or unlisted? That'd be safer from a lot of points of view, at least until, hopefully, ISU really does something about this mess. Though I guess it wouldn't help new fans as much...

yea, we just realised that worlds 17 cannot be uploaded there because of copyright lol. Maybe some china tv bought the broadcast. But other figure skating channels are doing really well so i wouldn't worry too much about it. Think they only care about chinese broadcasting rights which isn't a lot.

we're currently looking into wordpress embedding, basically compiling videos from various sources

if we want to host our own video site, does anyone know how to do this? or are there any good file sharing sites that can be used to compile?

  7. thank you for everyone who volunteered! we'll organise the info now and contact you later.

I'm actually considering vimeo since the different language seem to be a huge turnoff for potential contributors, is there anyone who knows how strict the copyright are there? continues with wings survived but idk if the other SBS videos will be taken down.

Does anyone know if there is a way to download bilibili videos?

I used to be able to but I think the online site does not work now. I think you can if you create an account and use the app, but i'm not sure. might experiment and translate the interface. does anyone know?

  9. Amidst all the heat, if you come across anyone who has mass downloaded videos or who would like to contribute their videos, a group of us have set up a new bilibili channel to avoid copyright strikes and attempt to provide a safe heaven for figure skating videos. We just started, so do contact us at [email protected] if you have sources.

Here's the site http://space.bilibili.com/391446247. I've just subbed a CWW video here, click pink button on right for new interface so the subs will show https://www.bilibili.com/video/av38525782/

Also, Lorando is trying to rebuild her videos since she had no backups, so if anyone downloaded her eng subs do let her know!

  10. I HAVE SUCCESSFULLY PASSED THE TEST FOR BILIBILI UPLOADING RIGHTS :sadPooh:  *bilibili is a chinese video sharing platform.

It's a timed test (2 hours for 50 questions haha) on general etiquette and knowledge, to prevent spam accounts. For general knowledge I had to choose Math/Physics/Chemistry/Biology because I know nothing about entertainment / other sports, and I ended up having to google all the terms because I learned the terms in English :13877886: High school math revision which I haven't touched for 3 years rip

Here is the site! This is the account's follow list for Yuzu channels. A few of us are trying to operate bilibili to upload good videos from deleted Youtube channels, let us know if you want to contribute! Like sourcing / uploading / compiling / subbing / translating, I will translate the interface for both viewers and uploaders. Would be great if we can have a list of deleted channels and their owners so we can possibly contact them to ask if they would like to contribute here.  We are also creating a website to compile and embed media for all skaters, as a central go-to place for information that you can't find on wiki etc, and we'd love some help.

    http://space.bilibili.com/391446247/fans/follow

It's good because its policies explicitly allow cross-posting/reposting as long as the source is stated, and the other Yuzu News Channels have thrived very well so far, for over 4 years. It also has strict policies on toxic comments etc, and it's easily accessible for foreigners! The only thing is that you need to pass the test + get points in order to comment, but well it's a tradeoff I guess.

I heard that giant golden fish was returned to the fan who threw it. I hope that golden fish can fly on to the ice rink as his king is back!

I am glad that fish doesn't go to any kid's house cuz no kid know how to deal with that lol.

huh really? how even though? I mean how do they even find out who threw it, and did that Chinese fan stay long enough for them to contact her and return it?

The Google Translate version reads almost like a poem. It's very fitting and beautiful. But it made me cry for him all over again. :tumblr_inline_mzx922J8H21r8msi5:

To be fair, this is such a good article, I would recommend it to anyone who wants to learn about Yuzu. It's the everything you need to know about him, the one article that you must read if you want to know Yuzu. The author really did the homework - looking at US/Cad, why can't you research on Yuzu properly like the Russian/Chinese.

(it's quite poetic so it's difficult to translate :sadPooh: ) (please thank your translators and subbers, it's painful work) (I really want to translate but I don't have the time whyyy)

Brian, Yuzu still needs a good right ankle to land a Nessie :59227c768286a__s: please you should be the strict dad, not the enabling uncle :13877886:

Well, I guess it is a bit reassuring that Brian thinks trying a 4A is more doable for Yuzu's ankle than jumping a 4Lz....maybe? :14066882:

Well, we can only wait and trust Yuzu and team Brian :tumblr_inline_nhkezsTB3v1qid2nw:

ETA: also on the 4Lo, I think it's not by chance that basically Shoma's is MIA and Nathan dropped it (I think I've seen practice footage of nicely landed 4Lo this season but haven't seen it in comp). While we have many 4Lz and 4F attempts and many landed from different skaters (part of the reason is that BV makes F and Lz more rewarding, but really makes you think how hard is to jump a proper 4Lo...afaik Voronov still hasn't landed a ratified one and I haven't seen the one by Grassrl so idk how it looked)

Chibura actually made an analysis that 4Lo might be more difficult than 4Lz due to nature of takeoff

Can anyone help Mr. Prins? He's interested in Ice Scope, but everything is in Japanese.

Context: This guy is a ISU referee/judge/controller. Someone suggested the Fuji TV technology of measuring speed/height of figure skating jumps to him, and he is interested to learn more. He would like an English translation of this article so he can suggest it to ISU.
