  1. I don't think Yuzu would do a warhorse. If he really wanted to do one, he would have done it already. I want something with the vibe of Sing Sing Sing or From Russia with Love...Yuzu in a tie would be amazing but he'll probably bedazzle it in some way knowing him
  2. It's about Yuzu's jump entries. They're talking about how most skaters take their time and ignore the music when they're preparing to jump, which makes it difficult to express anything. Yuzu, on the other hand, incorporates steps into his jump entries such that his jumps come out of nowhere and everything is in sync with the music.
  3. Come join us on the IdF thread! we have cookies OT but if you wrote a blog post or recap of your volunteer experience, I would love to read it! Especially on your interactions with the skaters!
  4. He's done really well with his rehab! Give him another week or two and I reckon his 4S will be back in full form. What I'm really curious about is what quad he'll train next, because it'll likely be the centrepiece for his new programs. I'm not sure if there will be enough time to stabilise 4A and I feel like Yuzu might still be traumatised by 4Lz although maybe that'll motivate him to get it back. He's got at least a few months left at his disposal so it's a matter of how much he can do in the time he has. My crazy guess is the return of 4Lo and maybe 4A.
  5. I doubt HYK will be his free, but it could very likely be his ex this season although I was personally hoping for a more upbeat ex since we had Notte Stellata last season. Plus I think Yuzu is going to stick with Shae and Jeff for his competitive programs. Regarding the young boy in the Seimei costume... I'm kind of in two minds about it. On the one hand, it's nice to see young skaters look up to Yuzu. But I think it's far better to take inspiration instead of doing a straight up copy, especially since costumes are very personal to skaters.
  6. Nah, they're going to bring back the dumb looking plastic stars, disco podium and no flags for the skaters I'm still crying over the cardboard GPF "medals" #neverforget And I think it'll stay that way until they do an overhaul in the French federation. There has to be a slush fund somewhere
  7. Good point! Seems like it'll boil down to NHK/SC or NHK/IdF. I agree, I think Shouma is difficult to figure out But if Nathan picks SA/IdF, then the only combo that would make sense for Shouma is SC/NHK, in which case Yuzu would end up with NHK/IdF. I can't really see Nathan getting anything other than IdF, unless he gets NHK (doubtful) or the new GP (even more doubtful). My money is still on IdF
  8. I had a crack at guessing assignments based on this rumour and here's what I came up with. This is assuming 1) new GP will be in Europe, and 2) CoR and SA don't want Yuzu. So ruling out SA and COR, there are 6 combinations remaining: SC/NHK: possible but cutting it close SC/new GP: back to back and jet lag SC/IdF: possible New GP/NHK: back to back and jet lag New GP/IdF: possible but 2 Europe events would be unusual NHK/IdF: possible At first I thought it would be possible for SC/NHK to happen, but looking at Yuzu's assignments in the past, NHK/SC were always spaced roughly a month apart. Last year they were roughly a week apart, which is making me think this is why Yuzu went to CoR instead of SC. This year, SC/NHK are also under 2 weeks apart. Looking back at past years, he spaces his assignments at least 3 weeks apart where possible. My conclusion is the chance of Yuzu attending IdF is quite high (and we all know the French feds want him). What the other event is will depend on feds as well, but I think Yuzu is likely to get invited to NHK. The only issue with IdF is that it's right before the GPF and jet lag might be a factor. But he's done NHK right before the GPF in both 2015 and 2016 (both of which were in Europe) so I don't think it's impossible. edit: Just realised NHK has always been his second event, which fits SC/NHK more than NHK/IdF. But again, he might not have as much control over assignments this time around.
  9. Worst case scenario is that we're out 100 bucks which isn't *too* bad I guess?
  10. Yup, for IdF tickets because I haven't bought ones for the FS and gala yet
  11. What's the best way to be instantly notified when GP assignments are released? Asking because I'm kinda worried they'll be released when I'm asleep
  12. Wait, so if Yuzu gets multiple invitations, who makes the final decision? Is it then Yuzu's choice or is it something the feds agree on amongst themselves? Just looking at the dates, CoK is right before NHK and IdF is right before the GPF. Both situations are cutting it close. If Yuzu could pick, I feel like he would go for SC/NHK but that's provided there are invitations, right? I also wonder if there's still time for assignments/invitations to change or if it has all already been decided given they'll likely be announced in 2 weeks.
  13. Oh gosh that is adorable Wonder if he got it from a fan?
  14. This kind of method would never work in my area Someone would definitely try the sofa out by lying on top of the newspaper and I'd be surprised if the newspaper even makes it to the end of the day without getting stolen This...applies to me Washing machines freak me out a little with all the settings and what not so I've never learned how to properly use one. Hand washing guarantees none of my clothes get ruined and I can literally wash anything.
  15. Maybe it's different now, but in the 2015 Asaichi interview, he did say his costumes had to be hand washed, and that if he had back to back performances he would just hang them out to dry out the sweat. He never specified who actually did the hand washing, but it's probably his mum
  16. Wonder if he had time to hand wash it
  17. Kind of echoing what everyone has said, but I think you either need immersion or a huge amount of interest (e.g. wanting to be able to understand shows/movies) to pick up a language I got interested in Japanese while I was studying intermediate French in middle school and totally jumped ship Needless to say, my French is non-existent now. For me, Japanese was a way to understand anime/manga because I got frustrated waiting for translations and it seemed like a lot of fun. I've studied it on/off ever since but I really need to sit down and do some formal learning because my Japanese is hella rusty. When you get good enough, you'll notice you'll be able to understand bits and pieces and when you get even better you can try subbing which is actually a lot of fun and very satisfying! I do think formal teaching is important though, just to get your foundations right. I've picked up a lot of Korean through osmosis from years of drama watching and I can understand basic conversations but can't speak to save my life So in summary, the best combo would be 1) go to classes or get a good textbook, 2) watch/read a lot of material like TV/books/movies to keep it fun and motivating, and 3) practice speaking or formulating sentences through a penpal/language buddy/living in the country itself
  18. Fair point! Totally forgot all the Canadian dominators in every discipline have either retired or won't be there. I would think SC has more sway than the French federation, but Didier is dodgy af so it could go either way.
  19. I'm leaning towards (and hoping for) NHK+IdF as well! NHK is definitely going to invite him and France wants him- not sure if Skate Canada would invite Yuzu. Only 2-3 more weeks till GP assignments are likely to come out!
  20. Yuzu (CoR 2017): *complains that skipping rope is too short* Also Yuzu (JOC 2018): *complains neck tie is too short* *states that he has been tying his own neck tie for a while now (as if to imply he knows what he's doing)* *proceeds to blame tie for being too short* Such a perfectionist
  21. He's so unbelievably precious That's the kind of smile that could make Brian's hair grow back
  22. Nope it looks white to me too! With an unmistakable tinge of yellow
  23. Agreed! I think white or black would have looked far better. The yellow clashes with that specific shade of blue.
  24. I'm just excited he has picked music! It just makes the fact that he's coming back with new programs feel so much more real
  25. "Q: What are your new programmes? A: I have decided on the music. I would like to refrain from commenting on them at the moment. Q: Both the SP and FS? A: Yes." IT'S HAPPENING I just skimmed through the docudrama and...the acting parts are cringe central (as expected). Please tread with caution. There are some interesting tidbits in there though. I might post a summary later of Brian's interview
