  1. Pooh with gold medal... Disney is really good at promoting doesn't it? At least it will make Yuzu happy I think, when he gets them.
  2. On a bright note, Japan got it's second gold medal! And Yuzu is the inspiration for that!
  3. I was quite surprise at the timing of his admittance as well, but he probably doesn't want it to come as a surprise to the media or fans if he has to withdraw from Worlds or take an extended break. (Or perhaps he just needed an outlet to cope after everything he had been through.) What is heartbreaking to me though, is he spoke these scary words with the same cheery smile and crinkled eyes that he always does, so I can't help but think of how scarily strong he is. I read somewhere that in one of the interviews he said that it would be easier if he just broke his ankle, instead of this injury that he didn't know the extent of, and I thought to myself that was how much uncertainties and psychological stress he was under and enduring during the time off-ice. It is possible that the physical injury might not be as severe as it sounded, but the psychological stress he was under is definitely not exaggerated. For a top athlete like he is, nothing is worse that not knowing where he stands and whether he is able to continue. Like he said, once he knew it wasn't going to heal, he was able to train fully for the Olympics and not cared about anything else. IMO he probably felt relieved at the news even if it was negative because at least he knew what he has to do instead of being plagued by the unknowns and the fear of uncertainty. But because he is strong, I have full trust that he is able to recover fully, take this injury as another learning experience (which he already did), and come back stronger. ETA: Personally I was most heartbroken when he said he had abandoned everything to pursue figure skating and the second OGM, so when he thought he couldn't keep skating, he didn't know what his life was going to be like outside of figure skating. (I have to recheck what he said exactly.) But yet he never thought of giving up, even when all the circumstances seemed to be forcing him to, and for that I can never stop admiring him. He said he was mentally weak, but it is really the opposite. He is one of the strongest person I know.
  4. He acknowledges it during the TBS broadcast earlier.
  5. I think he was saying how Yuzu and his family should go to sauna together (to celebrate maybe?) Which Yuzu said onsen would be better.
  6. Meals Yuzu was eating on the 15th. A lot of pork to replenish energy. source
  7. oops, repeated post
  8. Maybe this will help~
  9. Also, during Hero's interview, he said something akin to actually didn't know the extent of his injury, because there were many old injuries which made it hard for them to figure out what's going on with his ankle. Which I think is why he is going to have it check-up soon. So maybe it isn't as severe of an injury as we are all worried/panicking about, probably he is just worried at the unknown of it all. Once he got a proper diagnosis, maybe himself and us can all breathe easier. So let's send him positive thoughts!
  10. I don't think this is posted? This is @kaerb's translation of the interview with Matsuoka-san and Oda-san. Thank you very much! http://kaerb.tumblr.com/post/170990417724/speed-translation-of-yuzuru-and-shomas-interviews I see many fans are panicking, so I thought maybe Yuzu's words can serve as a comfort. There's always daylight waiting at the end of night, so lets all be patient.
  11. I brought this over from the fluff thread since I thought it is an insightful interview.
  12. There is one (of the many) part of the CCTV Chinese commentary during FS that I really like. A rough translation: Fate whispers to the warrior, "You can never defeat/withstand the storm". The warrior responds softly, "I am the storm." Very apt description of Hanyu Yuzuru, 2014 & 2018 Olympic Champion.
  13. I hope this can help you! The first is the recording (I believe), and the second tweet is the transcription of it. On GS, Sorrento and Marin had translated the words. Marin's translation: Sorrento's translation: Source
  14. https://tadakixd.tumblr.com/post/170837340465/hanyu-yuzuru-press-conference-13218 I posted this in the Olympic thread, but I thought some of you who don't visit that thread may want to read this as well. Big thanks to the translator who worked hard to translate the speech.
  15. https://wherespacepooh.tumblr.com/post/170779365889/the-king-the-protagonist-has-made-his I can't... the imagery is too strong lol. It is funny how the entire article Yamaguchi-san refers to him as "the king." As always, big thank you to @gladi! Can't say how much I appreciate your translations and hard work!
  16. I just can't... this picture... straight out of a movie scene...
  17. Scary...
  18. Even though it has been barely thirty minutes, the tweet with the video of him walking past reached 3.0K lol
  19. https://www.bilibili.com/video/av10349700/?from=search&seid=10093915275688187077#page=6 (When I was revisiting his old performances, I was having a kick out of the commentary, and I just couldn't resist sharing it here. The predictions made by the commentor just came true one by one. I apologize in advance if I made any mistakes. It is a pretty rough translation. 2011 Grand Prix CoR -- SP CCTV Chinese Commentator 1: Coming up is a young skater, Yuzuru Hanyu, from Japan. Commentator 2 (Huang Feng 黄峰): At this time, there must still be many figure skating fans who are watching from the computer screen waiting for Hanyu’s SP. 1: Just like what Huang-teacher is saying, this skater is definitely Japan’s new star, and a genius figure skater. 2: I can just predict it now, that he will absolutely be the world champion in the future… because his skating skill, his expression/performance skill (表现力), difficulty, technicality… he is relatively perfect in each aspect as a skater. Now he is only lacking in experience and ability/capability(能力). (Program) 2: There is still some regrets in his 4T… step-out and hands-down, which mean his GOE probably is going to be -3. Also, his original plan was 4T-3T, but due to his failed first jump, he could only move his combination jump by attaching the 3T to his 3Lz. So… But, the rule said there must be connecting steps or transitions before the solo jump… he only did one transition before his 4T, and the wait prior to his jump was very long… so accumulatively all the negative points/aspects… he would have -3 for the GOE as a punishment. The rest of the program he completed very nicely. (Replay) 1: We can see that Yuzuru Hanyu- 2: This is the very high quality 3A he did. 1: The landing is very clean 2: Very clean, and very smooth. 2: 3Lz-3T 2: Hanyu is very unique in that currently, his choreography up to now is still Japanese choreography. I mean his current coach did his choreography. I predict next season, or soon in the future, he will seek out famous choreographers around the world to do his choreography. Then he can improved his artistic expression even more. (Kiss & Cry) 2: This is his coach. 1: He is a very simple, pure boy. 2: He really loves figure skating. There was one time, in a competition taking place in Asia, during Junior level, he shedded tears over a very bad performance. (1: laugh) He really loves figure skating. Currently, he is still unlike other senior skaters from level of experience and power aspect of the jumps. (1: Yes) But he definitely has the potential. 1: Okay, lets look at his score. 2: Still quite high. 1: (reading out the score) 2: Mainly, beside his mistake during the quad jump, his other components all received positive scores. Add to that his expression, his performance, every aspect was scored highly. Fun fact: one of the commentators here is Huang Feng, an international ISU judge. Besides his predictions here that proved to come true a few years later, he is also the one who predicted Hanyu to include two quad jumps in his SP (Chopin) in 2015-16 season from watching Hanyu’s performance in 2015 Skate Canada. I really like how he praised Hanyu's skating skills and expression at the time when many only focused on his jumps.
  20. ETA: I think Shizuka-san sent a picture of the stadium to Yuzu, and he replied back with "Ah! the costume matches" (or something along the lines).
