This thing about Pooh talking makes me think of that twitter with Pooh texts (or something). If Pooh talked that way for real to Yuzu = hilarious.
-
Okay got that out of my system. Another random add, maybe not helping the confusion, I'm surprised his mother didn't seem to be with him in Sochi. I mean, it's Sochi. His team probably had hotels outside the village, or maybe roomed somewhere else for that purpose. Without Pooh and his family, he won gold. He's a mentally strong kid even when he's got his routines and stuff.

Aw @anyanee you're a cute dear. I take fault for steering you that way too (proof: my edited posts) and the admins/mods are kind to us so hugs and kisses and good luck.

Random question about physicals since they're athletes they do testing regularly and also physical checkups, wondering do they not take height at these physical checkups? Here in America even when we do the routine ones they take height and weight. Just seems like Yuzu and co don't seem to really know what his height is. Or maybe they just didn't care about it for years. Edit: Do they do testing at all comps? Novice, junior, and senior level? Just wondering if anybody knew.
-
*Salutes* Yessir! I'm stopping. I promise. Also, I can't believe its going to be a full month before the next Yuzu competition. I'm sure people are watching other comps not Yuzu related though, but well idk how I'm going to fill the Yuzu emptiness until then. Hope there's some random footage planned even if its just Kiritou or Legends.

For real though Hanyu is a unicorn, but then again he reminds us he's also human. He's a 22 year old man so... I believe he's human outside the rink.
-
Okay done. If this was years ago I know I would have been traumatised by that video since I'd be a kid and believed these athletes weren't so much like us humans. The video may be fake, but some things ring true. I've seen some articles and some American Olympians aren't so secret supposedly. Rio also supposedly broke some, ahem, records. [edit: please keep things PG]
-
Now I'm curious. Please pm me too? Edit: I hope its fake too though.
-
I'll take this theory, I mean, not the part I bolded. Tbh I think it must have started that way with the rooming and then maybe Hanyu moved out. Wasn't there a clip when Hanyu went to the Olympic village cafeteria and grabbed a fruit drink too? Talking to Ueda he must have simplified it. Some things are just easier said and done by keeping it short.

I thought for a time Machida roomed with Daisuke during Sochi? Idk no source but I recently went through Matchy's GS fanfest and I thought someone said that it was when they were like "partying" (not the exact word used) in the room and how Matchy was able to get over his shyness and was able to kind of befriend Dai.

So about Yuzu's new height... when will it be official? I'm sure us fans knew it though Only it was a surprise to Zuzu.

Lol, but it was random. Refer to the comment here >>

WHAT!? This is news! I can't believe this planet has broken yet. I think, in the other ACI thread, someone was saying that in the backstage picture Yuzu looked taller than Javi. Then they were just joking that Javi might have shrunk. DUM DUM DUM!

I know Japan's excited and proud, but wow, the pressure. Hope he does well tomorrow because, well.
-
Wait, the SP and FS are not at the same arena?

So summing it up, the 22 year old 2x world champion will be skating 2nd in the 2nd group on the 22nd of September. It's a miracle, really.
-
Also my ten cents. It almost seems like a different era like the times have changed within the last few years only. You can't really compare the era where Daisuke Takahashi and Patrick reigned supreme when Yuzu debuted to this one with Yuzu and the sQuad. It just feels so different. Or I feel that way, that is.

Nah, it isn't the wikis I'm salty about. It's the people/editors who I'll never know who they are anyway. I'm pretty much salty or petty/dark about everything so tbh a lot of happier comments or comments just telling the anxious new fanyus to chill often helps give me a reality check when I'm deep down the pessimistic hole. This fandom helps me be a better person forreal.

wiki is not a great resource, but I know I still use it. But what even. betting whoever added that Yuzu tidbit and combined total scores in wtt is the same for that one article i came across. Like, the need to go that far by combining scores in a competition that don't matter instead of placements and when both shoma and yuzu are teammates instead of competing against each other for once
-
I'm not sure about that. Unsurprisingly, Shoma has his artistry going for him which Nathan needs to work on. "Artistry" is so subjective, and yet I've seen past and even presently more digs at Hanyu for not being "balletic" like Nathan or artistic enough like Shoma and thus for some reason that suddenly makes him a less complete skater than the youngsters. Idgi tbh but what I do get is that at the start of the new season Hanyu is still the 4x GPF champion and reigning World and Olympic Champion so I don't think this season will go easy on him at all, even if someone manages to one-up him in a few competitions. I think what going through old threads prior to and post Sochi has helped me to understand is that while I do feel that there's a double standard when it comes to a reigning champion and favorite, there's extra pressure and media criticism all around, it's not special to Hanyu only but also Patrick and the men and women before them. So everyone survived after that, and hopefully I will to. The journey for zen continues.

At least your friends ask you about it and you can clarify/give them the right details. What's worse is like the last bit of your comment when people spread misinformation and no one has a chance to say anything. A new person watching that will probably read the comments and think it's true. I know when I got into fs what everyone says was super important because it was so new to me, I absorbed both the good and bad without knowing if it's right or wrong. At a certain point I think it's essential to correct misinformation, and maybe even behavior including from some overzealous fanyus, since some people don't realize they're doing or saying something wrong until you tell them (like for example the derogatory form of JPN, a lot of people don't actually know until you tell them, but the backlash on YOI fans though, whoa). This just personally my experience, not just in fs but in idol fandoms when I was a tween and unaware about rules and borders, the more mature voices made me realize and conscious about a whole bunch of things. For what's it worth, this is how I became a fan. Of course, the problem is that not everyone will be like me. I came across a discussion or more like argument about Hanyu and the other person who didn't like him targeted his character calling him arrogant among a bunch of other things. The other person was just so unfair to the Hanyu fans he argued with, it really bothered me. So I knew a bit about Hanyu before, just barely, and decided to really check up in him. The rest is history.

Boyang in these circumstances remind me of Javi. Javi is to Yuzuru what Boyang will be to Chen and Shoma. Quietly (to an extent) moving in when all the the hype is on one side, I bet. i.e. Javi became 2x World Champion when it seemed Yuzu got it in the bag. Yuzu, Nathan, and Shoma are all aiming for the OGM, while I feel like Jin and Javi, while being very capable skaters themselves, will just be happy with an Olympic medal this round. And that's dangerous in situations when the ones at the top falls too hard. And I know I'm missing Patrick, but well, that's another analogy.

I thought Yuzu and Patrick was breaking the SP WR left and right before Sochi (not literally, but) and perhaps the inflated scores early this season is (among many other reasons) an attempt to catch up to Yuzu's WRs to give some more hype to the Olympics. I'm going to be salty if anyone breaks Yuzu's WR though even if it is deserved. sigh~

Wow his hair is long. He must've recorded this during his stop in Japan for his training class (jam packed schedule, what's new). Now I'm wondering if we'll see Yuzu with a new haircut in ACI or not. After a month it must be even longer now if not. Excited for this.
