Heard this might be Oda's last year competing in the Japan Open. Some people want Machida and Mao or Kanako to fill in the team. If and whenever Yuzu retires, if he wants it'd be nice if he gets invited to fill that spot for "retired amateur/guest" skaters some years down the road. Once a year at a not-so-serious competition and in front of a Japanese audience might be worth it for a pro-skater who thrives on competition.

I signed up as a volunteer to make artsy stuff for a cause, looked at the date a week later, and had to back out. Since it was volunteer it was simpler for me though. I wish the two wasn't happening at the same time either, but I get to watch Yuzu's SP now so well my priorities right.

I have no words. I know what JSF is going to do, or trying to do, after Yuzu retires, but honestly how are these reporters and photographers (and fanyus) going to survive after he retires? I'll miss his cheekiness and smiles so much. Everyone else of the current top skaters seems so shy in comparison.

Poor Javi. Unless you just didn't get to a part about him. But always the undermentioned one of the "uncles" as Boyang is also the undermentioned one of the sQuad, but glad he's brought up here.

Yea variety Nino when he's on a roll is spectacular and really you're not missing much with avoiding the singing and dancing lol even me who can just laugh some things away or think its cute sometimes get secondhand embarrassment. But same story I haven't been up to date in a long while. Life happened and then Overlord Yuzu came crashing.

This was posted hours ago but as a Ninomiya (Arashi) fan I just want to say that sadly you're missing out on one of the best trolls and snark in johnnys. He cares about his image as an idol, I'm sure, but Nino has been carving an interesting image for himself.

Ah this talk. Coincidentally, I was browsing randomly through youtube Yuzu vids yesterday and came across this fanmade one. Will you still love me When I'm no longer young and beautiful? Will you still love me When I've got nothing but my aching soul? I know you will, I know you will I know that you will Will you still love me when I'm no longer beautiful? Yes, Yuzu! Yes, I will. Looks can make people take notice, but its not everything.

Taking aside skating: Above his looks, which to some may be average, it's his outward emotions and how expressive he is on a daily basis (meme king) that is most attractive about his face imo. There are a lot of attractive guys out there, but the first time I saw Yuzu, his SMILE was so infectious like it made me happy just to see someone so happy and the feel that it was a super innocently straightforward and pure emotion. I get drawn to smiles, yes. Plus the other faces, lol.

I thought the figure skating magazine boon happened because of Yuzu? People and the media can push but in the end its still demand then supply instead of the other way around. Shoma is great and all but if Yuzu retires I don't think he can sustain interest like Yuzu has. Instead the love will turn back to ladies skaters with Marin Honda as the one top media and interest wise as Yuzu has been imo. (Sad for the other ladies, but that's how I see it.) With Marin already heading in that beloved darling direction despite her fresh senior debut JSF doesn't need to worry and shouldn't be so hard on Shoma and Yuzu now tbh.

Okay random question to tack on, I think JO have invited skaters not connected to IMG or the sponsors (which was another argument used) - have Yuzu ever participated in Japan Open before even before he became big though? Idc if he attends the event or not, but I just like to think he was at least considered before. Btw I saw some old Yuzu vids of him participating in this other cheesefest event when they divided Team Japan into blue and red teams and competed against each other, Japan Super Challenge (or something close to that). I wish they would bring it back unless it is already ongoing and I just don't know about it. Cheesefest or not, it seemed like a fun promo event which allowed the skaters to meet fans and be a team (outside WTT).

About scores, idk if someone in this season will get perfect PCS because if that top record is reached ISU might finally have to raise the threshold after all and make changes to the judging of PCS which it seems (from them always missing the point) that its not what they want to do. I think it's more likely that we will see a skater get +3 GOE across the board at least once before the season ends because the GOE scale will change anyway. Plus its Olympics season and seems to me candies are easier to give because they want that threshold reached before the changes go into effect.

Gawd, Yuzu is so beautiful in the thumbnail and I was salty to not see him until the second half of the video and yes I was counting his number of clips in comparison to others. Swan Yuzu was not in the clip at all so someone in ISU went and got a special Yuzu picture for the thumbnail for clickbait indeed. Edit: (Also they photoshopped it for the background so some extra special work for the Yuzu picture, yeap.) It's a very nice video though. But they should employ the Japanese person who makes and edits the openings/endings of their fluff pieces. Those will always be beautiful and iconic.

Yea I was mainly referring to the 4A more than the 4Lz. I mean its a new shiny toy that would blow the roof off everywhere like the lutz did when it came out, maybe will even more. The verdict now is that people have been practicing it but no one has landed it yet, and only because we follow Yuzu and believe in his prowess do we know he has done it (although I'm amazed he's not flaunting it tbh). Yuzu doesn't need any more hype, or pressure, so maybe that's it. Along with other reasons like health.
-
So there are are countless reasons why Yuzu is not showing or practicing 4lz and 4A in public. Unlike 4lo and its various fancams. Do you think maybe one of the reasons aside from trolling or keeping the hype low, is to make sure his other competitors (aside from Javi obviously) do not get an advantage of seeing a landed/wip jump? I know he got the image of the 4lz from Boyang and Shoma got the image of 4lo from him so just wondering, hm.

I clicked on it and then came back and you already put the warning up. XD Okay, but for real though I wonder what Nobu said. Takeshi Honda got his word on it. Kozuka got his word in. And I agreed with both of them. Now Nobu too and I just bet he's still the most awesome skating senpai as ever. OMFG that picture of Yuzu that they used at the end there. Someone has a sense of humor.

Thank you! Good to know. Btw thank you for these uploads. I still have to find time to watch the ACI ones esp his cool downs. I just love seeing him on ice in the zone.
-
I obsessed over your fancams. Idk why I prefer yuzu's runthroughs of Notte Stellata over the real performances, but especially here and during his practice in gpf in his training gear(and I think Zhenya watched?), they were gorgeous. Tbh I thought the rest of the skaters were just taking a rest as it had seem like a long practice day already, some of them seemed to have left at that point. It's super cool if they actually really sat to watch him. Because that ex is gorgeous and unfortunately he wasn't always clean in the real performances.
-
Okay, finally got the wifi to watch this. What I find funny about Japanese media vs other commentators is that Japan has often brought up how popular Yuzu is worldwide. Like, multiple times. So only our cries have not reached the rest, fufufu. I mean, Japan is proud of the Pooh rain in Shanghai and even covered it in media so I'm betting they may do a quick coverage of his Russian/foreigner fans at COR too. At least we'll be heard by one outlet, yay?
-
I actually think it was his own 4CC and WTT experience of winging layouts last year that did him in and not Nathan's strategy. It gave him confidence previously and at ACI it failed. He learned that it doesn't always work or I hope he did. Curious to know too. Some skaters seem to work on plan b layouts in case of zayak. I wonder if team cricket at least contemplates it although they probably won't practice it.

Reminds me of my school days *shudders* Went to class with my books read and the papers done after multiple revisions. And then that one student in class raised a hand to ask about the extra research she did on the side about the subject on top of the work. Like, why would you do that!? Just chill and stop making me look bad! Lol Yuzu being a genius would already be disheartening enough for some without that natural talent and genes, but he puts in so much work and focus that in itself is sometimes disheartening. There are just some people, like me, who don't have the same drive and will. At the same time it makes us jealous, it's hard not to admire someone like that.
-
That's why the Russian fans will save us at COR. Now I wonder if in Shanghai in 2015 even with the pooh rain, because most of the audience was asian, if they called it a Japanese crowd as well...
-
Wonder how this rumor came about. In any case, I have a soft spot for all of the "uncles" in figure skating and it'd be sad when they're retiring after this year. I always wish there were more interactions between Yuzu and Kevin esp since he seems to know Japanese.
-
It's National Pancake Day in the U.S. Go Yuzu! Okay, I'll see myself out now.
-
But Yuzu would probably face palm too if he ever saw overlord zuzu among the other faces I'd give anything to see his face since he's so expressive. Did I forget to tell how much I love this place?
-
Uh oh. Oops. If Brian or Tracy or one of team cricket ever finds this planet (or maybe Yuzu) I feel like there would be major face palm at these "emojis"
