  1. He doesn't just talk the talk, he walks the walk, our Yuzuru He says he wants to live beautifully, and he does it.
  2. I did too - I was booked in the Ibis next to Ice Sheffield and Sheffield Arena. Cant imagine it'll be hard to get a hotel tho - no Yuzu.
  3. Just out of interest - assignments must be on their way soon then presumably. Edit - assignments published tomorrow If Rika comes to Sheffield, maybe I will go as I might not have chance for such a "local" GP ever again....but I need to save up for Yuzuru's shows too so
  4. That was exactly my point - John Curry was asked questions directly by the media about these issues once he came out as gay, and his scores dipped afterwards....Yuzu didn't have the direct questioning, but his experience of the change in attitude, scoring, and PCS changes can be compared to John's - more covert, but same effect
  5. https://www.theguardian.com/sport/blog/2015/dec/04/yuzuru-hanyu-john-curry-figure-skating I searched to see if the Guardian had reported on Yuzu's change to professional skater, and what came up was this article from 2015 inspired by Yuzu's NHK record breaking Seimei skate in 2015 - it is mainly about John Curry (an Olympic FS champion from the 70s for those who don't know who promoted artistry and technical excellence in his skating and courageously came out as a gay man during his competitive career) but is interesting for those Fanyus who haven't seen it - the last paragraph made me smile wryly - how FS, and the UK, and the world, has changed since then... "Hanyu unfurled a long programme that fulfilled all the promises Curry had ever made about the potential of his sport to attain the condition of art. The swiftness, the flow and the precision of the Japanese champion’s movements, in a programme containing three quadruple jumps and seven triples, had the same effect on his audience as the Englishman’s game‑changing displays of grace, poise and exquisite line. And for both men, the beauty of their performance provided an elegant cloak to hide all the countless hours of hard work that had gone into the creation of such supreme athletic prowess." "Hanyu, blessed with boy-band looks, wore an oyster-coloured tunic trimmed with purple and glittering with jewels as he spun like a sycamore seed in a light breeze through the jumps that studded his historic long programme. And nobody, the morning after, was going to confront him with coded questions about masculinity and athleticism. In a darkening world, there at least was a point of light."
  6. Did we see this already? This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].
  7. I love that Yuzuru takes his opportunities to remind people he has technical excellence as well as artistic excellence - this narrative that exists (even amongst some fans) that he is artistic but others are superior in technical skills needs knocking on the head every chance there is!!
  8. Shun wanted to stand on the podium with Yuzu (sorry if posted - I see it's from yesterday) This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].
  9. I also feel we have lots to look forward too and it's exciting, and we can make it happen that we will see him at a show - but like @DancingFeather says there are definite losses - I'd forgotten about practices - 35 mins of Yuzuru - remember Di sole e d'azzurro cool down in Turin? Divine... Sorry my vids not great but I still love it...
  10. .....dance one last time for me I'd die for love of you... That was our competitive life farewell wasn't it?
  11. ...and me....from up in the balcony (37 euros for the men's event!) - it was worth every penny! I would have paid 100 times as much to see that masterpiece! Unfortunately my last live comp was GPF 2019 - the most outrageous underscoring, and overscoring of another, no Ghislain, sad Yuzu in K&C; BUT Yuzu skated Otonal beautifully imo (despite mistake) and did a 5 quad free with the most beautiful 4Lz, he looked so gorgeous and sparkly in his origin costume, and the audience was so loud in supporting him throughout and especially during the VC, I just know he really felt our love (and there was a mega-pooh rain!) - so it is after all a positive memory despite ISU attempts to wreck the experience for Yuzu and fanyus (plus we saw another beautiful Notte Stellata....) These memories of Yuzuru to treasure forever. We are very lucky. And there will be more, that is the good news! (.....ok, yes, I am still crying intermittently too, mainly because I adore Yuzuru so much, and also I am so proud of how he thinks and behaves, and how he treats us his fans. I have always thought of him as someone precious and rare, a treasure to be cherished (you'd think by the governing body as well as by the wider skating community and of course by us his fans - and he said something today that made me think he really knows that that is how we feel about him, and because of that sense he is treasured by others, he is going to treasure himself too. Ooops waaaaah crying again but I blame @Perelandra and the Prosecco!!) end of ramble (honestly I have only had a glass!)(a normal sized glass!) Oh, One more thing! WAKE UP! Thanks all for all these posts, means a lot to those of us who had some other commitments today, it makes it so easy to catch up on all the news and views, Everyone did great today.
  12. He has always been that tall flower
  13. I didn't appreciate Belinda adding the second tweet....just no need, and it sort of undermines the sweetness of the first imo...
  14. I've just finished work and got some on ice....catching up here, what a day....!! Cheers Yuzuru you are a wonder and a marvel, I will miss you at competition, but can't wait to see you relaxed and free from the shackles of the ISU!! I know your skating will continue to amaze and enchant us.
  15. I wish we had so much choice for competitions as we have today for Yuzu's announcement!!
  16. sounds tempting, but it's a little early for me lol!
  17. Anyone else crying already? Not just me, surely! I have been up an hour (8.30am here now) and all I have done is opened a million links to livestreaming and cried...oh and had a cup of tea too, and postponed my 9am meeting to 10am.... Hugs to everyone, thanks for all the streaming info and mutual support!
  18. Under spoiler because its not very good....
  19. That long hug with Stephane at the last FaOI got me thinking - it seemed to me like maybe some big issue had been resolved/discussed/accepted....they don't usually hug like that at the end of ice shows. I suppose though, it could just be that they were glad to be back skating for the FaOI family after 3 hard years....
  20. Anyone have inside info from Finland? I know someone posted on twitter ages ago about the GP event being at Espoo and that proved to be right - can the same source let us know if Yuzuru is assigned Finland because there will definitely people who know that already....I really want a good seat, but am not willing to lose over 300 euros by buying a ticket and then not going - I don't want to spend my money on anyone other than Yuzuru! EDIT Maybe the pic on the Finland site of Yuzuru is really meant as a big hint to help us.... Yuzuru, if you know can you please send us a sign before Monday, we wont tell anyone else, promise!!
  21. GB never capitalised on those heady days of John Curry Robin Cousins and Chris and Jayne - lottery funding came in in the 90s but by then I think the sport had diminished even further...
  22. Gosh I feel even more anxious and panicked after that!!!
  23. OMG I have a work meeting at 11am (in 20 mins) - all I will be able to think about is these bloomin GP assignments!! I need to focusssssss........ EDIT just checked out ticket prices @ Espoo - a LOT compared to SCI
  24. This emanates so much love for Yuzuru it makes me a bit
