  1. Let’s not forget his video games. When he wasn’t skating, thinking about skating, studying, listening to music or sleeping, he was playing video games.
  2. [NEWS] OA sport Figure skating, Massimiliano Ambesi: "Yuzuru Hanyu is the light, the truth, the genius" Fabrizio Testa – January 15, 2021 (Google Translate) "He is the best, if I ask what Hanyu is I can answer the light, the truth, the genius. One of the greatest sports men in history. There have been no skaters like this before him and there won't be after. I think that the ISU must have the intelligence to say that there will be no 2023: there will be the first year after Hanyu if he decides to quit in 2022, because in this way we will have to reason to do justice to him and how he has changed the skating. Because we are talking about a phenomenon; I hope that Japan will think of him as the last or penultimate torchbearer for the Summer Olympics, otherwise it would be a scandal. We are talking about an almost supernormal entity, it comes from another planet for real. Hanyu is to skating as Maradona and Pele, together, are to football." https://www.oasport.it/2021/01/pattinaggio-artistico-massimiliano-ambesi-yuzuru-hanyu-e-la-luce-la-verita-il-genio/?refresh_ce
  3. I think that it's a good thing. It will result in cleaner jumps and more competitive performances. He doesn't get rewarded for doing extra anyway.
  4. I mean, how much of a wedgie do you want to give Yuzu?
  5. Yes, pretty darned good for a first pancake! It will become more fluid and natural with practice.
  6. It is too bad that only Japanese healthcare workers are receiving Yuzu's message. I think that an American satellite should write to CNN with this story about the Japanese double Olympic figure skating champion paying a heartfelt tribute to healthcare workers who are struggling in the midst of this growing pandemic. I think that embattled healthcare workers throughout the world would really cherish these beautiful words of appreciation and encouragement from Yuzu. The message to CNN should provide a brief background of Yuzu’s experiences and accomplishments as well as links to some of his iconic videos such as his Olympic performances and his most recent short and long programs at Japanese Nationals. Otherwise, non-figure skating fans would not know who he is. With the background, videos and proper translation, he would become unforgettable. Yuzu is the polar opposite of Donald Trump and CNN may welcome a chance to air an apropos brief story of hope with a selfless message from someone who truly places others before himself. It would be a refreshing change from the regular diet of darkness. Perhaps I am only having a pipe dream, but it would be wonderful if it happened. (I don't remember having any opium lately...)
  7. Ever since Yuzu set his goal on landing the quad Axel in competition, Minoru Sano has been saying that all Yuzu needs to do is to tuck his elbows in closer to his body in order to achieve a quicker rotation and gain some height. Edit: I am not necessarily agreeing with Minoru Sano since I know nothing of figure skating other than watching Yuzu. I am only stating as fact what Minoru Sano said. I am sure that it is not as simple as he explains it, but tucking in the elbows is probably part of the equation and that is why his arms appear to be tighter in the comparison between 4CC and JNats.
  8. Yes, Yuzu has been using "ore" to refer to himself ever since he was a child as evidenced at approximately 3:25 of this video. This was shown to him when he was being interviewed at the age of 15 immediately following his return from the Netherlands after winning the Junior World Championships. At approximately 3:25 of the video, "ore" rolls off primary school aged Yuzu's tongue when he says, "I can't find time to play since the age of kindergarten. But I think that skating is the most fun. So, I don't care even if there is no time to play." I believe that Yuzu grew up speaking in this colloquial manner with his family and friends and that this is his natural self. As we all know, he is capable of beautiful high level Japanese and being the intelligent and sensitive person that he is, he has always been able to easily adjust his Japanese to suit the listener and the occasion. A case in point is this TV interview when he was 15 years of age. He spoke with a confidence and maturity beyond his years using standard Japanese and without any colloquialisms or trace of dialect. Although the word "I" is used multiple times in the English translation, in his speech it was mostly implied. When he did use a Japanese word for "I" it was "boku".
  9. “Watakushi” or “Watashi” is the standard Japanese form of “I” and not gender specific, but always used by females. “Boku” is a form of “I” commonly used by males. “Ore” is a colloquial or slang form of “I” used by males. Notice that Yuzu used “omae” when he asked Pooh if he was hurt when he fell off the bench in the Kiss and Cry after “Heaven and Earth”? That is a colloquial or slang form of “you” in place of “anata” or “kimi”.
  10. WISHING EVERYONE A MUCH HAPPIER AND HEALTHIER NEW YEAR THAN THE ONE WE ARE JUST LEAVING OR ALREADY LEFT, DEPENDING ON WHERE YOU ARE IN THE WORLD. I am hoping that we will be able to have a relatively normal competitive figure skating season in 2021 leading up to Beijing 2022 and that we will be able to see a fit and healthy Yuzu competing, especially at ACI and SCI (in my hometown of Vancouver)! I want to meet up with you satellites again!
  11. This is the first video made by “Ippei” after he watched Yuzu for the very first time. I am not providing a complete translation and am being very liberal in my paraphrasing here. I hope someone takes @Umebachi's request and provides proper English subtitles for this video. He starts out by saying that he had watched Yuzu’s performances and was “mecha mecha” – insanely – moved and just had to talk about it. He says that he rarely watches TV, but came upon Yuzu in the Japanese Nationals serendipitously. He says that Yuzu is on a totally different level. The other skaters, to put it badly, their worlds were shallow. He could not be drawn into them. On the other hand, he was immediately drawn into Yuzu’s world with his performances. He was impressed that despite having insanely high scores and no miss performances, Yuzu was still not satisfied and wanted to improve. He recognized that Yuzu is a crème de la crème person. He repeated that he hardly watches TV, but was very happy that he did. He gushed on about how Yuzu’s personality “mecha mecha” changed when he was off the ice and in the Kiss and Cry and interviews. He says that he loves this “gap”. A couple of the things that he mentioned were Yuzu playfully talking to Pooh about social distancing and showing concern for the cameraman’s arm. He referred to Yuzu sincerely saying “arigato”. He says that Yuzu is not only a great skater, but someone that he looks up to and respects tremendously. He was incredibly impressed by Yuzu’s character, sincerity, generosity and selflessness.. He had been aware of Yuzu’s universal fame and popularity, but upon seeing him, he now realized why it was so justified. In the video posted by @Umebachi "Ippei” says that he has become an immediate fan of Yuzu. This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].
  12. The Ghost of Postings Past à la Jacob Marley?
  13. Has this already been posted? A Russian perspective on JSF's judging of Yuzuru Hanyu. Hanyu returned triumphantly, but was tried by the Japanese judges. Why are they interfering with their own in Japan? https://www.sport-express.ru/figure-skating/reviews/figurnoe-katanie-chempionat-yaponii-hanyu-i-kihira-vzyali-zoloto-sudeystvo-v-yaponii-1742583/
  14. WELCOME TO THE PLANET! A GREAT TIME TO BECOME AN ACTIVE MEMBER! Would you tell us how you became a fan of Yuzuru Hanyu?
  15. Remember to enable/allow Adobe Flash Player or it will not play. If you don’t have Adobe Flash Player, you can download for free. I was using Firefox, but found that it started to cut out. I quickly switched to Microsoft Edge and it ran smoothly after that. How do you download programs/videos from iSakura?
  16. Merry Christmas and Seasons Greetings to all the satellites! My Christmas present this year is seeing Yuzu’s new costumes and programs! I am hoping that Yuzu will stay healthy and that all of his wishes will eventually come true and that he regains his National title this weekend.
  17. What happened to his old Pooh – his war buddy? Is he just taking a vacation now or did Yuzu retire him? Will we ever see him again?
  18. Maybe it’s just Yuzu’s special way of flipping the bird at JSF and ISU… 🖕
  19. Yuzu knew how to build the suspense and pique everyone’s curiosity by performing only single jumps and ending with a triple axel.
  20. It’s like comparing a walk in the park to a walk through a minefield.
  21. In Yuzu’s perfect world, he would love to keep everyone in suspense until he takes his jacket off during the 6-minute warm-ups and not reveal the programs until he actually skates them in the short and free.
  22. I think that Yuzu will have two new programs for the nationals, but I do not think that he will include the 4A in them. He has a strong personality and is not one to be pressured into doing something that he is not ready for. He will be bringing programs that he can skate clean with confidence. His goal is to regain the crown.
  23. I don't go anywhere near TSL, but I think that if Yuzu had two new programs he would not be practicing them in the presence of other skaters. The only people he would allow to see the new programs would be those who he trusted. The only reliable people who would have seen them would be Brian, Ghislain, Tracy, Jeff and Shay-Lynn, assuming that she choreographed the new long program.
  24. I think that Yuzu will surprise us with two new programs and two new costumes at nationals. If I am correct, just imagine the pandemonium when he removes his warm-up jacket during the 6-minute warm-ups. I am confident that he will be physically and mentally prepared and will regain the national title.
