I was re-watching the Dance Battle video when I ran across this upbeat video that I had not seen before where the creator edited clips of Yuzu dancing and put them together to Ricky Martin’s Livin' La Vida Loca. Not quite Blinding Lights, but entertaining nonetheless.

Welcome to posting and de-lurking! I see that you have been with us since January. Have fun!

Isn’t “bakauke” a compound word made by joining “baka” meaning “fool” (“stupid”, “idiot”, etc.) and “uke” (“received”)? I understand from my wife who is Japanese that the compound word can be interpreted as equivalent to the English phrase “crazy popular” (as in "senselessly popular") which may be a more colloquial way of saying “extremely well received”.

I know that this is trite, but this is another example that Yuzu has not just been physically cute-handsome, but he has always had that indefinable “it” factor consisting of, amongst a host of other things, charm, charisma and poise. People are just helplessly attracted to him like iron filings to a mega magnet. This is a short fan cam video of Yuzu in July 2012 at Prince Ice World shortly before or after the ponytail pulling clip. He had already won the bronze medal at Worlds in Nice in April and had already made the move to Brian and the Cricket Club in May. He was already extremely popular in Japan, but not the supernova that he would subsequently become so that he was still able to personally greet his fans.

Don’t worry about this translation issue @Yuzuwinnie . Please continue posting in French. My grade 11 French is not sufficient to read your posts, so I just right-click and translate them into English. The only French I remember are practical phrases like “Ou sont les toilettes?”, “Une biere s'il vous plaît” and “Voulez vous couchez avec moi?” And some other very rude phrases that I learned from a French-Canadian classmate.

WELCOME TO THE PLANET! I have also been a fan of Yuzu since the Sochi Olympics when I serendipitously channel surfed onto the men’s short program and was blown away by him skating to “Parisienne Walkways”.
-
I have noticed that it’s only Yuzuwinnie’s posts which are in French. Just right-click anywhere in the post and click on “translate to English” and everything will be in English. It even translates @Paskud to “Nasty”!

Would you mind telling us how you became “Hanyuzied”?

WELCOME TO THE PLANET!

You tell me. it's definitely a recognized achievement. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Slam_(figure_skating)

Yuzu will not lose the “Super Slam” title. They will not retroactively remove a title from someone because of a subsequent change in the criteria required to obtain that title. Yuzu achieved the “Super Slam” title by fulfilling all of the criteria which were in existence at the time he accomplished it. You cannot change the rules later and deprive someone of an achievement that he or she accomplished by fulfilling the requirements in existence at the time. If they make the European Junior Championships and Junior Four Continents Championships requirements for future “Super Slams” and someone ultimately achieves it, then he or she will be heralded as “the first skater to achieve the Super Slam since the European Junior Championships and Junior Four Continents Championships became requirements. ” As @ Hydroblade has suggested, Yuzu will retain the “Super Slam” title and his position in history as the first male skater to achieve the “Super Slam” as historical records, if they change the rules for achieving the “Super Slam”.

Welcome to the Planet! How did you become a fan of Yuzu?

I love these cute cats with attitude! If Yuzu saw them, he would exclaim in a high pitched voice, “Ah kawaii!” I wish I could get them for my wife.

"Ruffle is a decorative frill of lace or gathered ornamentation of fabric, often used to trim or embellish the wrist or neck. A strip of fabric, when gathered or pleated, will create a frill that adds a ruffled line to a garment's straight edge. Think of the lace ruffles worn by Henry VIII or the Victorians. Today, you'll find them in high fashion and haute couture." https://www.businessoffashion.com/education/fashion-az/ruffle Hence, a sparkly ruffle would a ruffle with sparkles. Definitely Yuzuesque.

Welcome to de-lurking and posting! You may already be aware, but there are a lot of Yuzu resources on The Planet such as compilations, translations and videos. If you have any questions about The Planet or Yuzu-related, don’t hesitate to ask. I probably don’t know the answers, but there are people here that do! You don’t need to answer this, but how did you become a fan?

Yuzu will be 27 at the 2022 Beijing Olympics and 31 at the time of the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympics. He is getting stronger and better at an age when others begin to falter. He lives to skate and skates to live. It is his life. We will just have to wait and see.

Date Masamune was a powerful daimyo in the Tohoku region during and after the Sengoku Jidai (The Period of Warring States). He founded the modern-day city of Sendai. He was a legendary warrior, leader and an outstanding tactician. He was fiercely independent and won the respect of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, the then supreme daimyo of Japan. He became a lifelong friend of the ultimate ruler of Japan, Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu. Plagued with smallpox as a child, he had one protruding eye which he had removed. He became all the more iconic for his missing eye and was often called the "One-Eyed Dragon of Oshu". He figures prominently in the Netflix documentary "Age of Samurai: Battle for Japan". Yuzu played his descendent, daimyo Date Shigemura, in the film "Tono, Risoku De Gozaru" (translation: "Lord, The Interest If You Please") or "The Magnificent Nine" (English name for the film).

Yuzu really is getting stronger and better with age. He keeps comparing himself to mature athletes like Kohei Uchimura and Keegan Messing – "so maybe I'm still a grasshopper". Skating is life to him – "I was born for my skate." I don't think that Yuzu is going to be hanging up his competitive skates anytime soon.
-
"Because you visited here, this forest has been saved." Yuzu is so revered by his fans that wherever he visits becomes hallowed ground.
-
…or the horns of a little devil
-
Now that he’s 26 going on 27, 30 will not seem that old anymore.
-
Well, yes it can... Yuzu can say that he is getting stronger and still improving and has more he wants to accomplish and he goes on to win a record fourth gold medal at the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympics at the age of 31.

Welcome to the Planet!

Yes, I wondered about that. I thought that it wasn’t like you to miss something so obvious. @Henni147 you have too many things going on in that brain of yours!
