[2018] Olympic Games - Other Sports

I'm mildly pleased that there have been some UK medals today, but for the first time I watched the BBC highlights programme which was AWFUL.  Three ex GB Olympic competitors with Clare Balding doing some sort of 'UK girl power' presentation of the days events - more coverage of the commentators and interviewers with parents etc than the action, absolutely cringeworthy, and this is from a person who has listened to more hours of  BESP figure skating commentary in the past week than would probably be regarded as medically advisable.   I cannot in conscience criticise NBC when the BBC is putting out this drivel.

Ah well, with the coverage in Germany, this is mixed: I wish they would mention the names of silver and bronze medalists if they are not german, instead of " the chinese pair", etc..

On the other hand,  on one tv channel they have a new anchor woman, and she is strange: completely unemotional, so much so that I find it very strange, but she asks real questions of the athletes...

I don´t know.

Am happy to have japanese tv on, where I don´t understand a thing:laughing:.

Congrats congrats congrats to the first (?!) ever Gold Medal in Ladies speed skating for Japan! Nao Kodaira. :goe:

(with a Dutch touch, of course, because apparently we have a finger in just about every medal on the speed skating ice, lolz. Guess they'll want the gold and bronze medalists to talk Dutch on telly)

this article even kindly mentions Hanyu. ;-)
