[2022] Skate Canada

Featured Replies

That was a very good skate for Kihira, clean jumps, good spins, nice compositions, very good choreography, very good flow. That said, it felt methodical. Her expression of the music was better in the first comp she entered this season even tho the technical part was not as clean.

Some deduction here and there for some jumps and spins & SS not as good, sure, but I felt Watanabe was stronger performance wise. She also had very good flow, very good composition, very good choreography. She should have broken 200 here but well...

You Young tho...

She is still struggling mentally IMO.

The confidence in the short was just gone :(

Oh non, what is that thing???? So dangerous

PS: Someone said it looks like a water tube for the flowers

Overall, the quality was very underwhelming. I won't watch men then. Women "men-ed" so hard, I can only imagine how flop the men could get.

the Japanese women did well tho

I went to watch Rika again, I really felt it was a beautiful performance, I love that her whole body expresses the music. For me it was the best free skate to watch today. (I wish I could see the whole rink as Rika looked to have good speed and flow today) I meant to look at her last 3S but forgot as I was so absorbed...I will try again!! I don't mean to diminish Rinka, technically she did a more complex programme and she is also lovely to watch and deserves the Gold.

I am just so happy to see Rika back and looking so happy with herself after the free, I missed her.

Ohhhhh gosh...I hope this is a sensible way forward and not a big mistake....I know athletes deal with pain all the time but she is so young and hopefully has many years left to compete so is there really such a need to be increasing difficulty whilst she still has pain? (says a Yuzu fan lol!!!)

To each their own I suppose. Kihira is always good at body control.

No questions about Kihira's performance today, it was very good, but Watanabe still had the performance of the night for me. She brought out that Japanese esque in her performance and it's not easy to do. It's hard to explain, but that essence is what I feel when I watch Yuzu's Seimei & Tenchi and Satoko's Sayuri. A lot have performed to Japanese music before, but only a handful few can make you "see" it while expressing the program. That's why I gave it to her.

One more thing, seeing what happened to Schizas today, I hope people will be careful with what they throw on the ice. It could have turned out to be a disaster had she stepped on that thing.

I remember bunch of “Canadian experts” were mocking Yuzu for the hole incident in Beijing months ago. I wonder if they would mock their own skater's unfortunate luck too. I'm glad that she left the ice healthily.
