You are absolutely right. I can't stop watching his 4A from Beijing, but also the peace and strength he had throughout the performance.

I am also shocked by how authentic he is - sharing his feelings, his tears. You almost forget how false and fake the world can be sometimes until you see him showing his emotions that you immediately know are true in every sense.

Exactly, well said. I think he has millions of fans not just because he is a brilliant skater but also because he is so pure and honest by nature, just like some figure skating commentator said ' he is a top class human being' .  That he really is, even if he never put his skates on again, but I hope he does... many more times and skates anything he feels like skating, free of pressure.  I hope that is one of the rewards he gain from Beijing

I rarely post and venture here anymore due to life happening and also forgot my password to my old account 🤦🏻‍♀️ But I just want to say in regards to his thoughts about 4a that I can absolutely understand where he’s coming from.

Huge brain dump here:

I’ve had dreams of my own where everyone thought it wasn’t worth risking my health for but I was stubborn and still went for it because I don’t want to think about what ifs later on in my life. I think we’ve all been there. So I can understand that while it seems illogical to people that he risked his body for 4 years to do the 4A, I think they forget that this is Yuzu’s own personal goal and one he has held on to since he was a kid. Having been a fan of Yuzu for a little over a decade now, I just knew that he would not have let this go and he will die trying and he did, even incurring a swollen ankle in the process. The quest for something that has never been achieved is harsh and difficult and moreso in his condition (age, injuries) and the mental pressure that comes from critics and fans alike. He has achieved so many things in his career and at one point, he mentioned losing motivation in skating so I guess having personal goals has ignited the fire within him and helped him to keep going in his career.

I’m not always supportive of seeing him go on amidst his injuries because it’s just so worrying as a fan. But I also don’t think it’s up to us to understand the mindset of an athlete, especially when he’s achieving a goal that is very personal to him. I disagree with him that it was an unrewarded effort and would like to quote his own words back in 2016 when he said that “Efforts may lie but it will never be in vain.” Listening to his post Olympics interviews, he already seems to have learned something from all those “unrewarded efforts.” It takes a great level of maturity to find acceptance in failing something you had really high hopes for and to show all those raw emotions in public is even more admirable.

As his fan, I personally wish that he doesn’t beat himself too much over it and becomes proud of what he has achieved even when he did not get the results he wanted. He came so close, did it at the Olympic stage with so many eyes watching him despite all the doubts casted on him. He will be remembered for attempting it the correct way and not trying to cheat it, he may even inspire future generations to land it  and he found it in himself to accept that this is the best he can do. I think those are the rewards he will reap from this experience. I am proud of him, as many other Fanyus are, and he has inspired me to chase my dreams even when they seem unattainable

Whether he’s done with it or not, I hope he comes to a decision that he’s satisfied with once he’s more rested physically and mentally and I will be here waiting with excitement at what he’s going to show us next.

Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk 😂

Ah YESIIIIII post it as many times as you want and for our pleasure (and mine  :heartpound: ) and it looks like a practice of a classical dancer and all that, with a stewed ankle ..... and I don't know what word to add on the intense beauty of this practice  :girlsigh: and I add this one which is also sublime and it calms me in the difficult times that everyone knows with Ukraine  >:( and  :thankssign:to Ghislain and Brian for having forged this man + his immense will and his innate gift and here he is also where he speaks in English and says "he is very happy" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x1B04k-_ESc   and he can be and his face at the :grin:end

Yes there's nothing I could do but love and support him. I've got my opinions but he knows himself and the situation better than anyone. Whatever he decides I'm by his side. It's destined to be a lonely journey. It's good he follows his heart, and I follow him.

Never cared about the chaos all around.

From what I've understood, these photos/videos were taken after the gala, so it is a bit worrisome... But I hope he's well on his way to recovery by now.

Was this said somewhere? I thought W/L went to the closing ceremony after the exhibition.

(btw hi everyone, just a regular lurker with a random question lol)

This is another great analysis by Martina.

It clearly shows how the new scoring system just gives enough manipulation power to the judges to predetermine a winner. sigh, Saitama was definitely the start of the story telling of ISU about the invincible Nathan. USFS worked hard for the Beijing’s gold medal for years. *tearful standing ovation*

This is excellent, I saw it earlier today. I saw ppl tagging ISU, I hope someone important reads that.

Does she have a YouTube channel or so? This deserves some kind of serious hype and dissemination.

Hello(: I assumed they did this (immediately) after the gala based on Xinyu's Weibo post (where he numbered the lifts lol), but of course it's possible he wasn't thinking about it in strictly chronological terms.
