This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS]. I have felt it rather as a kind of "exorcism" for everything that happened in Beijing at the competition. Maybe like he's trying to find himself again in his old programms... Idk, maybe it's because that's what I do when I feel a little lost... Link to comment

First, he is reminding everyone that there is only one GOAT and that he is incomparable. Second, he has been saying that he feels like crying when he thinks about how much longer he will be able to lay his eyes on scenes like this, referring to competition venues. I think that he is enjoying himself to the max despite his pain because he does not know whether he will see Olympic ice again. I think that he needs time to sort things out in the peace and quiet of his home. I don’t think that he’s ready to give up competitive skating because, as he told Scott Russell, “I was born for my skate.” He did not rule out another run at the Olympics and that tells you something. He just needs to take some time to properly rest his right ankle. I do not think that it will ever completely heal, but he needs to rest it so that it is not being continually activated. I agree with @Mary_kyo that at 27 years of age, when other skaters are faltering, Yuzu is getting better, stronger and improving technically and artistically. Yes, I think for Yuzu the "normal" age calculation doesn't work. Seeing footage of his recent practices with these soft landings has amazed me once again. I loved his attitude and charisma during Olympic Seimei but his Seimei step sequence in UA was no less beautiful to me. (I hope someone will compose a YuzuTube video of all his Beijing practice sessions. ) However, today we have seen that other skaters are strong at a similar age, too: Ryuichi Kihara and Cong Han are both 29 and look what they achieved today! (A German TV commentator even considered the Japanese pair "still young" and contenders for an Olympic medal next time.) Not to mention numerous athletes in other disciplines aged 30+ who won medals in Beijing (but maybe you can't compare this). I could imagine Yuzu skating in the next season because he is peaking right now, but he may need a break from competitive skating before the next Olympics. Last time I couldn't bear this thought but if you consider how little we saw of him during the pandemic, this is something I can deal with. As long as we have a White Wall from time to time and The Planet still exists ... Link to comment

One of the things many people have not picked up on is that if Yuzu hadn't fallen on his final jump (a Lutz) he would have broken the FS scoring record (he was that close). As it was he had to wait until 2015 when in NHK and GPF he did it twice. Link to comment

I was blown away, they tried very hard in their own ways to make him feel special. He was more of a team China member today than a team Japan. Yuzu really is loved in China, isn’t he? Nathan Chen? Not so much. Most of you probably know that Nathan has been criticized for being a “traitor” in China, but I had to laugh at (and agree with) the comparisons of his performances at the Olympics to those of Yuzu. https://www.news18.com/news/sports/figure-skater-nathan-chen-faces-backlash-in-china-for-representing-us-at-winter-olympics-4785743.html "According to the South China Morning Post, Japanese figure skater Yuzuru Hanyu enjoys massive support in China and was praised for his performance on social media. Meanwhile, the users came down heavily on Nathan and took digs at his performance at the winter games. "Despite winning his first Olympic gold in the individual figure skating, Nathan's performance was called 'acrobatics of a circus monkey' by one user. Whereas, another user compared his skills to that of Yuzuru and wrote that Yuzuru had 'both beauty and power, that is ballet on ice.' He targeted Nathan and said that his performance was 'Like that of an ape.'" Link to comment

Having worked as a translator and interpreter myself, I was also touched when I saw the livestream of Yuzu's press conference and he thanked the interpreters. This is rare, at least from what I have experienced. Even more if the interpreters sit in a cabin and are literally invisible for the others. They have quite a hard job doing simultaneous translation. And Yuzu noticed, despite the tense situation he himself was in. Link to comment
Anabel
I just realized that I didn't bring my laptop charger and I still have a lot to read after three days disconnected... To be fair, Takeuchi himself at least has shown signs of supporting Yuzu. For instance, he stood with Kobayashi at the rink side to cheer Yuzu on. But, as a whole, JSF is a piece of shit, that much is true. Some tiny personal support that comes a little too late won't do it. Link to comment
HiskeVeronicaMaria
Tried three time to post poem for Yuzuru (and you guys). First time layout was completely mixed up so I took it back to try it again the whole thing. Wrote it in English. Then after posting it was gone again and I got other pages and also had to login again and again. Now I also don't understand all what is here also coming in my email, (old computer poor thing, that's heavy), while coming to website isn't that normal entrance? But three times al that work for the poem and the post not happening / is gone: koyashi. Then I write in English, the site translates it and makes it proza.. that doesn't work. Well then have other things to do and sayonara, I am sorry. Hiske Link to comment

A shame his support is not obviously enough. Link to comment
