  1. I'm both hyper-excited and worried about Yuzu at the Japanese Nationals. Excited for obvious reasons which I'm sure everybody here understands all too well And worried about his health and recovery. From the bottom of my heart I pray his injury was minor and he's feeling fine now. Maybe not 100% yet - it'd be too good to be true - but at least relatively fine and not on painkillers. Because I hate the other option. And I hope we'll get to see him smiling a lot. Every single time we get to see his skating is a gift for which I'm incredibly grateful. So, I guess it's time to renew my VPN and FOD subscriptions and try to get some sleep while I can and then start to panic Re: the opening ceremony in Beijing. It's not mandatory for the athletes and IIRC, Yuzu didn't participate in either Sochi or Pyeongchang.
  2. Happy Birthday, Yuzu I hope your ankle is gradually getting better and the next year will be much kinder to you. Every time I watch you skate, your performance brings me so much joy and happiness. I really wish that all the joy you have given to your fans will come back to you and make you even happier. Thank you for what you are doing. I miss you terribly but patiently waiting for your return. Stay healthy, stay happy
  3. @sweetwater I see. Thank you very much for taking your time to clarify. And thank you to all the Satellites at the Rostelecom Cup for putting up those Yuzu banners. It's a beautiful gesture. I'm sure your love will reach him.
  4. Yeah, this is so frustrating. I don’t speak much Japanese but I regularly see a lot of fans complaining about this. Lately almost every day. I also feel there is a pattern. In the past, media hyped Shoma and I remember some articles about the ‘4F is more difficult than 4Lo’ with a picture of Shoma’s massively photoshopped 4F and even some university professor claimed his jumps are bigger than Yuzu’s, or some media ‘borrowed’ some of Yuzu’s big titles and assigned them to Shoma, surely by an accident, riiight? Or various most random stuff such as ‘Yuzu needs to work more on his cross rolls’ by retired skaters. However, these attempts to artificially manufacture a star don't work and often are very counterproductive. It's funny that the people involved never learn. On a slightly different topic: I saw some tweets talking about the Japanese TV broadcast of the Grand Prix series this season, but I'm not sure if I understood it correctly. Could someone who speaks Japanese please confirm or clarify? I'm curious about the possible implications of Yuzu's withdrawals:
  5. Get well soon Yuzu! It's good to hear his condition is slowly but surely improving. Praying hard there won't be any pain by the time of nationals, so he can compete. But of course, only if he's fully recovered (which I'm not sure how possible is in just 5 weeks ), I don't want him to skate out of a sense of duty on painkillers. I miss him so so so much
  6. I'm super excited about the SP news. I love the original violin version but the fact that Yuzu's going to have a special arrangement by a pianist he personally knows and I assume he shared his visions with Shinya and gave him a lot of inputs, this has a potential to be a real masterpiece, truly a program only Yuzu can skate. Yuzu never disappoints with his music taste and vision. Hopefully, he and Shinya will share some details of their collaboration in their interviews. Also, I'm curious why he chose both Jeff and Shae and how the process of choreographing went, after all, they were in 3 different countries and time zones. I just so much can't wait to see it. But at the same time, it's so sad, in terms of what could have been. In less than 24 hours Yuzu was supposed to skate and showed us his new program, costume and gave new interviews. As of now, we still don't know any realistic date we can see him again. Get well soon Yuzu, you're really missed
  7. I totally understand your situation, I cancelled my trip to Milano in 2018 after Yuzu's withdrawal. But still, if I were you, I would probably wait for the official confirmation, just to be sure. Thanks, I saw it and really liked the way he talked about Yuzu. I just thought this one had some additional nuances (if the AI translation was correct) and the author wasn't Vaytsekhovskaya or Kuznetsov, so it should be a relatively unbiased source.
  8. Russian media interviewed Brian and asked him some questions about Yuzu. I don't speak Russian, so posting only AI translation. It looks like Brian thinks this injury might be serious but also thinks we might see Yuzu at nationals. It also sounds as a recent injury. But Brian admits he doesn't know much, so who knows. https://www.championat.com/figureskating/article-4505861-intervyu-s-trenerom-brajanom-orserom-otnosheniya-s-medvedevoj-voshischenie-tuktamyshevoj-mnenie-ob-uchenicah-tutberidze.html?utm_source=copypaste
  9. I don't think we need to worry about JSF not giving Yuzu a spot. It's probably more about whether he himself wants to go or not. Japan has 3 spots for men and these are the criteria for each spot: Assuming Yuzu doesn't compete at nationals and Yuma and Shoma get the first two spots, Yuzu could get the third spot safely based on his world standings. We know he's not JSF's darling but they're not that dumb not to send him if he can and wants to go. Besides, there are many sponsors and broadcasters who will, no doubt, pressure JSF like crazy. The only issue that could arise, i think, is if neither Shoma nor Yuma win the nationals. In that case the winner goes automatically and only two of {Yuma, Shoma and Yuzu} can be selected. It's an unlikely scenario but could be very tricky for everyone. But anyway, regardless of the Olympics, I hope Yuzu'll be able to recover soon and compete at nationals. It'd mean his injury is not that severe like previous seasons. Sending him positive energy.
  10. I'm really devastated by this news. Was so much looking forward to see him again, his new SP, new costumes, how much has Ten to Chi to evolved, exhibition program, everything... possibly even a 4A, but that's more about wanting his dream come true rather than just wanting to see the jump per se. And now I feel so empty, I should be working right now but I just can't, just sitting numb in front my PC and crying... What I hope the most is that the injury is not that serious. They didn't mention any estimated time of recovery. I hope it's a good sign and not vice versa. He looked so ready and good in the latest clips. It's so frustrating. Such deja vu... Sending him all the positive energy. I wish I could give him also my 2 healthy ankles.
  11. thanks for the quiz, it's always fun i found this even more evil than the previous two
  12. This is truly evil Much harder than StSq clusters
  13. Hi folks, I'm glad to see that many of you are trying to find so many positives in Yuzu's assignments so it helps me to see things less pessimistically. To be honest, I'm worried, because this schedule is going to be very taxing, even without that much travelling. In theory, there are 2 weeks between each of those competitions but in reality, because of arrivals/practices/exhibitions/..., he's going to have at most 7-8 days of break in Sendai between each of them, 3 times in a row. I'm worried about how it's even possible to manage the peaking with such a schedule and for that long (8 weeks). This is only my speculation and I could be totally wrong, but the breaks seem too short to raise one's condition in between the events and at the same time, 8 weeks seem way too long to maintain the peak. First half of 2015/16 was similar: NHK (last GP), then GPF 2 weeks later in a different country, then nationals 2 weeks later again in Japan. At that time he stayed in Japan and only travelled to GPF in Spain. He was able to maintain his condition from the NHK to GPF but by the time of nationals it naturally dropped drown. You can even hear him saying in the K&C after his SP that he was really tired (+ ofc, his left foot was already badly injured by then). This time he has to do even one competition more. Obviously, he doesn't need to be at his peaking condition at neither of his GP, but by the time of GPF and nationals it'd be desirable. I'm just worried that this schedule really disadvantages him more than any other skater and causes a greater risk for a injury, and by the time of the GPF and nationals he might be too tired. Tbh, I was hoping he'd get Skate Canada and NHK. Not only more time to rest but he could spend at least some time with his coaches. With this schedule, I doubt he'll get to return to TCC this season, even if he wanted to. I totally trust him and I know he knows his body more than anybody else and will make the best decision and plan for himself. I just hope he's more happy with those assignments than me, because again only my speculation, but I don't think he himself would have chosen this schedule. Anyway, I wish him a great season without any health issues. Each competition with him is a special gift. Normally, as a European, I'd be excited about Rostelecom because it's close and relatively cheap to attend... but not easy at all during a pandemic

  16. I love this quiz! Here are my guesses:
  17. I don't speak much Japanese, so I used OCR software to convert those scans into digital text and then auto-translated it with (mostly) DeepL and it turned out not bad and quite readable. Sure, it's not a proper translation so one has to take it with a grain of salt but anyway, here it is, there are some interesting parts: Btw, hello everyone this is my first post, however, I'm not a new Fanyu. I just prefer lurking and that's my comfort zone but I enjoy to read PH daily and I'm really grateful for all you you who create content here and make PH such a nice place.
