  3. I am going to revive this thread a little bit. Over the past many years, so many different people have been drawn to Yuzu's skating, praised him for various aspects, or been inspired or touched by him, or shown their support for him in some way. Among them are also a lot of professional artists (dancers, musicians, actors, film/TV producers, painters, novelists and others) or elite athletes outside of figure skating (gymnastics, diving, swimming, skiing, snowboarding, tennis, table tennis, badminton, baseball, volleyball, shooting, track and field, speed skating, sumo, judo, karate and others). The 10th anniversary of Yuzu's legendary performance in Nice is approaching, so i decided to compile these stuff to celebrate and pay respect to how much legacy has Yuzu created over those 10 years. Some of these stuff have been shared here before, or in the other threads on PH. Unfortunately, some sources have been deleted. *I decided to put here mostly raw twitter/planet hanyu links instead of automated embeddings because too many embeddings per post seems to slow down the loading of this thread. **All credits to the fans who shared these links and sources. I just compiled it together. ***Feel free to contribute with more sources Part 1: Professional active or former dancers / dance choreographers Isabella Boylston [USA] - principal dancer with The American Ballet Theater Miki Nishiguchi [Japan] – principal dancer with The Ural Opera Ballet Theater (Russia) Madoka Sugai [Japan] – principal dancer with The Hamburg Ballet (Germany) Tetsuya Kumakawa – principal dancer with the Royal Ballet (UK) Akane Takada [Japan] – principal dancer with the Royal Ballet (UK) Midori Terada [Japan] – soloist with The Tatar Academic Musa Jalil State Theater of Opera and Ballet Jiejing Zhu [China] – chief dancer of Shanghai Dance Theater (China) Yusuke Onuki [Japan]– pro dancer / actor Masaya Yamamoto [Japan] – principal dancer with K-ballet Company Kaito Yamamoto ‘Yamakai’ [Japan] – American ballet dancer, youtuber Liao Bo [China] – #1 MC in the Chinese Street Dancing Bouboo [France] – world-famous hip hop & street style dancer Christina Valez [USA] – artistic director & choreographer of Crescendo Conservatory dance studio Antonio Najarro [Spain] – Flamenco dancer, choreographer Margarita Bugaeva [Russia] – art coach Imari Suganuma [Japan] - dance choreographer, director of a contemporary dance company Shota Takahashi [Japan] - hiphop dancer, dance choreographer
  4. At least 4 of those examples above are from 2020 or later and we could dig some more if we wanted. Tracy gave an interview for Kiss&Cry last year. She highlighted how brilliantly Yuzu's elements match the music in Tenchi. I cannot find the link right now but she also said something like this about LMEY: 'I think that an artist like Yuzu does difficult things very casually. His technique, artistry and musicality are so advanced that even the slightest movement is actually very difficult. But I feel that the high quality of what he is doing is not always recognized'. It was a nice long interview full of praise for Yuzu. We do not know any details but it seems like Yuzu does not really want his coaches to talk about him much? Did not Ghislain mention something about Yuzu's permission recently? We also do not know what/how much interview invitations TCC gets these days. And the tone and content of interviews also depends on the type of questions asked. It maybe looks like i am trying hard to defend Orser here but rather than that, i just think that this criticism gets sometimes a bit exaggerated. Are they perfect? No. The way they handled gpf in 2019 was disappointing. And there were some other disappointing incidents as well, particularly autumn 2016. But it is not true that it has always been like this since 2019.
  5. I agree that Orser said some questionable things in some of his interviews. And that he could work more on his PR skills. But to give him some credit - there were many many very nice interviews in which he praised Yuzu a lot. So it is not black-and-white. Here are some random examples of nice quotes: 'I have to say he is the greatest of all time' - 2018, Olympics channel 'When Yuzu does them (quads), they are the best' - it was some video interview in 2020(?) but cannot remember which one he though that Yuzu's PCS for SP in Stockholm were low - 2021, interview for Trace of Stars DeepL translation 'When you see him on the ice, there's something special. There's something about his speed, his flow, his 3A, even the quads. When you see him with other guys you can see the difference. It's hard to find the words, but there's something special about his freedom when he skates.' 2017, kyodonews 'Yuzuru has the ultimate beauty of powerful but effortless skating,' / 'There is the intrinsic beauty of skating, not just jumping' - 2020, aera 'He just keeps challenging himself. Even being a two-time Olympic medalist, he’s not ready to just ride the wave. He’s trying to create wave. And it’s pretty cool for me to witness it. I’m not fueling it, I’m just there for him. It’s been nice, it’s a real privilege to be with him.' - 2018, insideskating 'If anybody can do it(4A), it will be him (Yuzu)' 2018, JWBlades interview 'Never underestimate Mr. Hanyu' 2018, video link 'He has some remarkable jumps and is probably the best jumper in the world. It's quality choreography, spins, speed, there is something about how he fills up the rink.' - right before Olympics 2018, kyodonews 'If he can skate like he did at All-Japan Championships, I think it is enough to win' - 2022 newsweek all 3 Team Brian books Tracy as a commentator at Skate Canada 2019: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-C9LouWh7ek&ab_channel=dasani2.0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2PqweASB480&ab_channel=dasani2.0
  6. Just some random thoughts. Do not take me seriously, i am just incredibly bored at work haha How about Ciontu II., but this time Yuzu invites all his favorite ice dancers and pairs and skates together with them? Male skaters can lift Yuzu to his heart's content, or even do some single or double throws And with female skaters he can perform some cute choreographies like this And invite Boyang and Nobu too, they always look ready to join any fun.
  7. There are two different salchow techniques and the isu considers both as valid: Yuzu uses the sweeping technique - the shape his legs create looks like ク Nathan uses the scooping technique - the shape his legs create looks like ハ
  8. Ghislain's interviews are so rare but always so enjoyable. It is beautiful how much he cares for Yuzu, gushes about him and how much he 'gets' him. It makes me happy that they have been in contact all this time. Not that i doubted it but it is nice to have it confirmed. I love that Yuzu took Ghislain's offer 'i am available 24/7 for you' literally and texts him at 3:00 am And Ghislain answers him immediately. What a dedication I also feel weirdly satisfied that Ghislain is not a fan of cheated jumps. Again, not that i doubted him but lovely to have it confirmed. And Yuzu's message for 3.11 is so . Praying hard for his health and happiness. This man is a real treasure and deserves all the best. Universe, please, where is spring? The winter has been too long Hopefully Yuzu already received those fan letters from Beijing and even if he cannot read everything, he at least feels the support.
  9. Finally had some time to watch all the subbed videos with Yuzu's interviews from Beijing. Boy, that was a lot and i had to pause those clips couple of times to process everything. I have so many emotions. I am still angry at universe, but also amazed at his eloquence, wisdom, sincerity, the way how he carefully and calmly answers each question. You cannot find one empty word in any of his answers. He really genuinely means everything he says. The part in which he was talking about his injury was especially hard to watch. But at the same time his love for skating is so touching. I wish i had some hobby in my life to love as much as Yuzu loves to skate. I have nothing but mad respect and admiration for him. He is a great role model on and off the ice. This is very random and low priority but i wished someone would ask him his opinion about the base value of 4a. We know that he wanted to land it for other reasons but i think Yuzu must have a strong opinion about its difficulty compared to its low base value. And he could very well be the most qualified skater on this planet to provide various accurate inputs.
  10. Rest well Yuzu, hoping for a speedy and full recovery And another new mag: [NEWS] And lol, i was slow with ordering new mags because i decided to wait a bit longer in order to carefully choose which ones i wanted the most since in no way i can buy everything. And guess what, 2 out of the 4 mags i shortlisted are already out of stock on amazon
  11. This looks great, thanks for sharing! And i think there are 2 more geo-blocked videos from Beijing Olympics with 1M+ views: Rondo Capriccioso / NHK channel / 1.15M views: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Y18e8m9w44 Ten to chi to / NHK channel / 1.80M views: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NbeksQvqKAs It is great to see so many different programs having at least one representation in this list. But what a pity that there is no Let's go Crazy. What could have been without those damn copyrights, right?
  12. Nice supportive comment by Jeffrey Buttle (about the hole lol). Too bad that the rest of the article is behind a paywall https://number.bunshun.jp/articles/-/852151 DeepL translation: This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].
  13. Another new magazine with Yuzu cover! Iirc, this one does not have the best reputation among Fanyus but there will be interviews with Tsuzuki-sensei and Ghislain about Yuzu's 4a. DeepL translation: Shoichiro Tsuzuki: "I cannot thank Hanyu enough for his quad axel challenge" Ghislain Briand: "The 4a that Yuzu jumped at the Beijing Olympics was the(his?) best jump by far" This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].
  14. Wow, that 4a looks so great This is just me guessing but i think it is very likely it was recorded around worlds 2019? I think so because of those banners for Gabrielle, Evgenia, Jason, Junhwan and Yuzu in the background. Iirc, they hang up those banners before worlds to cheer on their skaters and i think worlds 2019 was the only competition all of these 5 skaters participated together. Evgenia did not train at TCC the season before 2018/2019 and the season later she did not qualify, Gabrielle stopped training at TCC after 2018/2019. I wonder, will we ever see also his quints attempts in harness? I would like to so much
  15. Guys, i want to believe that nobody from here spams Fernandez's instagram. But just in case somebody did, please delete it. Yes, we are disappointed by his comments but please, let it stay here and discuss our disappointment here and not under his personal profile. We know what media can do. We should be careful.
  16. Guys, get ready for a lot of new mags with Yuzu content. I can already totally hear my poor wallet crying haha
  17. Yikes Javier, this was so disappointing. A lot of people are showing their true colors, huh? I personally prefer to know the truth even if it may upset me. But not sure about Yuzu. It seems like he trusts Javier, they were never true friends, but Javier seemed to be an important presence for Yuzu. And i just remembered Brian talking about Yuzu's 'i just miss Javiii' episode There is part of me that wants Yuzu to know about this. Even if it might disappoint him, he can at least know what the teammate he respects so much truly thinks about him and shares in on national television.
  18. Elizaveta Tuktamysheva praised Yuzu's 4A. We all know she is not the biggest Yuzu fan but i am grateful to everyone who is supportive and does not consider it a mistake. https://sport24.ru/news/figureskating/2022-02-11-yelizaveta-tuktamysheva-posledniye-novosti-tuktamysheva-v-komment-shou-smotret-valiyeva-doping "He is such a figure skating showman, he goes on the ice and you can see how he is charged by the audience, how the audience is charged by him. He is a very energetic athlete. He took such a risky step because he is a great athlete. He took this risk because he has nothing to lose, especially after the short program. He accidentally popped the salchow and immediately went to perform in the penultimate warm-up. It was a good opportunity to make history. He did not create history, but the best attempt that I have seen from him. For me, this person has already begun to make history, because he went to the quadruple axel, and it will be in the protocols, no longer with two carrots, but with one." And Junhwan Cha: [NEWS]
  19. About JSF. Putting it in spoiler because it is long and it will always be only speculations.
  20. my opinion on that judge (I do not think they are real judge):
  21. Finally i managed to catch up with all the threads here and first of all i want to say it is amazing we have the Planet and can share our feelings. Yesterday was not a kind day for Yuzu and us, but at least it is easier to cope with it together than alone. I am still cursing the universe and the unfairness that happened. I was really hoping and praying that this time all of Yuzu’s efforts would pay off. Each season since Pyeongchang, he had at least one clean or almost clean competition and many clean short programs, but it never happened when he competed against Chen. Each time he went against Chen, some ridiculous coincidences happened and disadvantaged him. While i did not wish anything bad to his competitors, this time i really begged the universe to be kinder to Yuzu and let him have a Great skate. Not for medals or scores, because they would overscore Chen to stratosphere no matter what, but just for Yuzu to have his efforts recognized and be genuinely happy about his performances. And Yuzu was ready and carefully did everything that was in his power till the very end. I know it leads nowhere but cannot stop asking why only him and why here and why again? I am glad he accepts it and does not blame himself, but he surely must be really disappointed and it breaks my heart. He has had so many challenges of all kinds and he really deserved better. His performance was beautiful apart from that accident. I especially loved his exit from his combination jump, so much control and edge mastery. He should be proud of himself how he handled the rest of his program. He skated so well till the end. I do not know what exactly to expect on Thursday, but i am sure he will fight like the fighter he is, till the very end. I hope he feels our support. I just want him to be happy so badly. And of course, staying uninjured and healthy.
  22. I am so so so relieved Yuzu finally arrived. The waiting and uncertainty was very stressful these past days. Hope he stays healthy, safe and is able to put out performances he will be proud of and satisfied with and is able to enjoy his third Olympics. I also hope media will keep proper distance. Off topic, but i accidentally found this interview with Valentyn Nikolayev (coached Petrenko, Baiul) DeepL+GT translation: https://sport.rambler.ru/winter/48072094-nikolaev-o-shansah-trusovoy-nedostatke-plyuschenko-i-detskom-stresse/?utm_content=sport_media&utm_medium=read_more&utm_source=copylink "Apparently, Yuzuru wants to go down in history not just as a multiple Olympic winner, but as a 'technician.' I understand him in that. Hanyu is remembered primarily as a great skater. His ability to do complex elements as if on the go, without disturbing the rhythm of the skating - this is absolutely fantastic thing. Very few people can do that. The vast majority of those who make programs of comparable complexity, just run from corner to corner. And the program itself is decorated with either jumps or falls. Although, from my point of view, if a person does not have an interesting program, the grades must necessarily reflect this. It happens, however, and vice versa: the program is interesting, with various tricks, tricks, but the person skates it very mediocre. Not because they do not glide, but because they were not taught. Q: Do I understand your point correctly that a skater does not have to run all the way across the rink to do a quadruple jump? "That is just the prerequisite. But who said that one should gain speed only by running (does he mean stroking?), with arms outstretched to the sides, as if you were going to stand on the wing? Yes, the run with interesting steps, like any difficult approach to the element, takes more strength and more breathless. But it all comes with practice." Nice to see at least someone openly gives credit to Yuzu for this. This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].
  23. I was thinking about this as well. IIRC in 2014 and 2018 they held medal ceremonies at the end of each day after all the competitions on that day finished, one after the other. According to this article, Beijing also plans to hold 2 separate ceremonies - one inside the competition venue => a souvenir ceremony and one outside in the Medals Plaza => a traditional ceremony. Cannot find any specific details about when they plan to hold it but most likely again in the evening. https://www.scmp.com/sport/china/article/3162058/china-reinvents-olympic-medal-ceremony-adding-new-cultural-exhibitions But at least it seems like the skaters will not have to travel too much: https://architectureofthegames.net/2022-beijing/beijing-2022-olympic-venues-in-google-maps/ the competition venue for figure skating => Capital Indoor Stadium the place for medal ceremonies => Beijing Medals Plaza and both of them are located within 10-15km from the Olympic village in Beijing. The schedule for men who will compete in the team event is brutal. There are many pros and cons and I cannot decide whether I wish Yuzu takes part in team short program or not I doubt one can skip a medal ceremony for non-essential reasons but who knows.
  24. Seems like Tsuzuki-sensei gave couple of new comments about Yuzu, 4Axel and Beijing. If I understand it correctly with my super poor Japanese + DeepL, he was watching Yuzu's practices and 4Axel attempts live at the venue and was excited. And after Yuzu's free skate, he sent Yuzu an email with congratulations. Too bad most of this article is behind a paywall. Hopefully some kind soul will share more details. Btw, Tsuzuki-sensei turned 84 on January 5, happy birthday to him and wishing him all the best. This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].
