He did seem to have a suit that was tailored for him last year - up until that suit, he was always looking like he was wearing someone elses suit. I' sure those legs and thighs and tiny waist don't fit anything standard.

I can't understand Japanese so am unable to follow the live stream of the updates, but am watching on USGS for earthquake updates. So far, there have been 5 aftershocks to the 7.1 quake (two fairly intense), but these could also be foreshocks. There were several rather intense quakes in the two days prior to the 3/11 quake that were presumed to be THE big release of energy along that fault. And, yes, these could very well be aftershocks from the 3/11 earthquake. It is unusual for there to be this many years of inactivity followed by related aftershocks, but also very few quakes of that magnitude have been studied in modern history. Fingers crossed that the worst is over, and that our boy is safe. There must be so much PTSD happening right now. So unsettling.

The USGS has all updated earthquake info (at least the scientific parts). No danger of landslides or ground liquefaction. So scary.

You're making me cry.

StickFigureSkating is amazing - simple, yet we always know exactly what she's drawing.

So. Korea has handled the virus so amazingly - but I really think credit for 4CC NOT being a super spreader event goes to the Chinese fans who decided to stay home and not risk carrying the virus with them to Korea. And fans that were there masked up. I've been seeing photos on Instagram of the stupid FS event the RusFeds had this past weekend, supposedly to take the place of Europeans, and there wasn't a mask in sight. Worlds can't help but be a health threat to all other athletes if the Russian team goes, and we know they will. With such a callous disregard for their own athletes, there is no way they can attend an international anything without bringing the virus with them.

Just got this from a tweet - interesting article that uses lots of data to tell us what we know. Yuzu is underscored and NC over. https://medium.com/@renatamachado_73871/can-data-science-show-us-that-there-is-bias-on-the-figure-skating-judging-system-54ef2e033096

I would think he'll be a torch bearer but not the one who lights the cauldron - that really should be a summer athlete, I think. Will they even have the torch run all over the country while Covid is raging? Hopefully, vaccinations will be well under way in Japan by then.

Yup - it says in profession that he is a part-time coach and a YouTuber. I'm a little surprised, too, that he isn't at least a part time student.
-
Unless someone is still in school, which would make them students, they would be full-time amateur skaters. Even those who are taking time off from college (such as Vincent Zhou) still have student as their profession. I love that Roman is a professional YouTuber.

Why mention Johnny Weir at all? Ich. The skater he admired most was/is Plushenko, but there's no need to mention him either.
-
I would never call him tiny. Slim, but not tiny.
-
Gorgeous - and these trashbag pants fit him far better than the current pair for LMEY. Whoever made these should get the order for a new pair.

Oddly, This is very reminiscent of western Massachusetts in the winter, though these are less weathered mountain tops.

This version or a different one?

Where were we?

I don't know how much time other skaters spend listening to their program music, but I feel certain that Yuzu listens for hours, daily. He knows every beat, every breath, every nuance.
-
Shoma, too... It will be a great competition. We will all continue to say our prayers that Yuzu stays healthy and injury-free.

That makes sense. I can understand a bit why they weren't living in the same area since they were both probably staying with family (being young...). Not everyone can adapt to training in another country and I would imagine that would be a reason. Hoping he gets back to TCC.

I'd hardly call that an update. ISU is so disrespectful.

I loved the entire interview, and I, too, would love to see BTS in an exhibition. (Jun, really, should have first dibs, though....)

I see sparklies. Lots and lots of sparklies. And some folds. I'm not even going to guess because, well, I think I'm good on a few of them, but not all, so I'll wait.

His entire sun exposure time is limited to his walking in and out of training and venues. He has zero sun damage. And he probably stays hydrated.
