You don't need to not understand the ins and outs of English to miss the OMI and OIT. I'm an American, but older so know very few of those three letter deals (except OMG=oh my god). And, yes, BTS has shattered all global streaming and music video records. Some of us became BTS fans during the extended Yuzu drought. Had to have something to keep our spirits up.
-
FYI: BTS is the #1 pop rock group in the world and has a massive global following (the Planet has a tiny but passionate sub-group just for them). They are, however, Korean, so U.S. awards shows troll their fans by saying "next up" just to keep viewers for three hours. It's infuriating. But just as with Yuzu, once the main act is done, whether it's first in a show or three hours in, the show is over. He's who we come to see. Everybody else are just supporting players.

I haven't purchased a new photobook since "Yuzu'll be Back II". Which of the latest releases has photos from the brief 20-21 season (if we can even call it that) and also, maybe, 4CC 2020.....? Recommendations?
-
I wonder if he knows how Johnny Weir has talked about him, particularly in regard to the NC "competition. I know he's lost me - but Yuzu is a lot more forgiving - and also is likely unaware that Johnny talks about him as if he's a "has-been".

The Olympics won't be cancelled because the IOC won't cancel or postpone them. The host country (Japan, in this instance) has zero say over that decision. The IOC has money involved and have already shown a disregard for the health and safety of athletes. The only reason I can see for it going forward is for the athletes themselves, who have trained so hard for so song. Yuzu may be a massive name and draw in Japan, but he is a skater. Hasn't it been presumed that it would be a summer athlete who would light the cauldron? It really should be. It's a lose/lose for Yuzu if he's asked to participate (duty versus strongly held belief that it shouldn't be happening - and also his health) and I truly hope they stick to summer athletes.

And he has a baby now, too....

Please, please NO stupid show instead of a legitimate gala.

It was SO fun to be able to be there for the entire weekend with so many satellites/friends. And we lucked into the seats. You don't have to buy a great seat to get a great seat (feel free to DM me how if you have a chance at seeing him.) Yes - everyone should be able to watch Yuzu live, at least one (though you will become addicted). And the group of us are in this video but also in plenty of fancams. Yuzu is fast so you have to look carefully....
-
I wouldn't care at all if my personal photos were used in a Yuzu database. Yes, they are precious to me (and most of them are kind of blurry because, as anyone who has seem him skate live knows, he is always moving and moving fast) but the only reason I have hard copy prints of Yuzu form competitions I haven't attended, which is most all of them, is because someone else shared them. It's Yuzu who is precious and my memories of seeing him live are beyond precious, but sharing the photos doesn't faze me.

How, specifically, can we help this change? This is an abomination!
-
I was going to post this, too - saved in to my instagram... And look at his calves!
-
Why?

I, too, hope that there will be an allowance for entry for elite athletes. Yuzu and Jun and Jason, too. Jason will have been vaccinated and both Jun and Yuzu could be (if either their countries have them get vaccinated or if they come through the US, where anyone can get vaccinated, regardless of nationality, or if Canada will be able to offer them vaccines in Toronto). Yuzu has been doing extraordinarily considering the regimen he's had to practice. But there is absolutely no doubt that being at TCC and availing himself of all coaching and therapy this year will be better for him going into the next season. Spending another year on his own will likely having him hitting a training "wall" or worse, injuring himself.
-
But Ghislain. Whether Brian is now more advisor than coach (and if or when that happened is debatable), there is no question that Ghislain is his coach, especially his jumping coach. Yuzu is the GOAT but I don't want him to go forward without his coaches - it's like a doctor treating themselves. Not recommended.
-
2019, though unfortunate, couldn't possibly be related to Yuzu's asthma issue at WC this year. Of course he was nervous for the SP at Worlds with no coach there, but the ISU (and the JSF) couldn't have orchestrated an issue with Ghislain's passport. I'd be reasonably certain that sort of problem is outside of their capabilities.
-
ISU and JSF have SO much to answer for, especially in regard to WC. But I doubt there will be any follow up by either organization. That would indicate a care for the skaters and they clearly don't care. More than being disappointed with the ISU, who are so totally a travesty, the JSF should explain themselves. They won't, but they should.
-
I, for one, remain (dimly) hopeful that Yuzu is training in Toronto before the last week of August. But he'd likely do a white wall statement for it....
-
This is sort of a video but not official - I don't know if it should be on this forum but I thought it might. So cool to see Yuzu and Jun and Ghislain (and Roman who was about to put his hand around Yuzu's waist....).
-
Well, I've written them a very polite request to NOT postpone this change. How can they admit the need for a change and then not implement it? (I was as polite as a disinterested Yuzu fan could be, but wrote as a fan of fair figure skating scoring.) Give it a try. It can't hurt. I did say that I thought " For the figure skating fans, NOT applying this rule immediately looks very much like national bias meant to favor certain skaters over others in this Olympic run-up and games." Edit - the email address of the French guy comes back as undeliverable..
-
Yes, please!
-
Seriously, there is no reason for this to not be implemented right now. Not doing so is such a blatant pro-NC, anti-Yuzu decision. I know someone was proposing ways to address the inequities, formally, without using Yuzu's name, to the ISU - wouldn't thins be a good thing to inquire about? (Again, without using Yuzu's name...just the simple question of "if you have noticed something that needs improving in the scoring system, why wouldn't it be implemented immediately?)

I think Conrad was doing this on purpose - and I don't know who the girl is but I want to slap her and tell her to be quiet. And doesn't all ramen or ramyeon require hit water to hydrate and cook the noodles? I don't know how anyone could get that one wrong (unless purposely not reading instructions...). I'm guess that ramen is a staple of all college age kids in the states because it's so inexpensive. But Conrad was, what, maybe 17 here?

I'm not sure about this, but I recall that there is some amount of $$ required for membership to Golden Skate? I have forgotten and I'm not going to give them clicks to find out. I think that the Planet fulfills all my FS info needs and also is (almost completely) filled with people who share not only an appreciation of Yuzu's skating but his generosity and kindness. "Kind" doesn't come to mind when I think about Golden Skate....
-
On the occasion of the 4th anniversary of the Planet, I oddly just received an email from Golden Skate asking me to vote on something to do with "reading the Nationals" threads. I haven't even clicked on them in years, so it seems very odd....

She is not suggesting Yuzu's methods or mentioning him at all - just pointing out the ongoing issue with the scoring insanity. And Yuzu is being left out of the conversation purposely so as to not make the situation worse for him. If he was being referenced, that owuld be different. But this is about fair scoring for all. He's not the only one to not get a gold because of biased judges. Yuzu has nothing to apologize for. The ISU does.
