  1. I love his attempt at pronouncing the French 'Ghislain' ...so cute.
  2. I don't have time to read this all right now but it looks very interesting! As far as height goes, you might be interested in what Roman Sadovsky said about jumping quads when you're tall ( at 6' 1" , Roman's probably one of the tallest men doing quads in FS these days). He said that the taller you get, the more perfect your technique has to be, because if a jump goes wrong in mid air, it becomes nearly impossible to save the landing. Basically, you have less of a margin for landing off-balance, because if you do, the forces on your legs and feet are harder to overcome because of the length of the limbs. Yuzu's 5'8", so he's tallish for a figure skater, but his whole body is narrow so he probably has a better sense of balance, and that probably helps him. So I wonder if his height is an advantage or a disadvantage.
  3. ...and I wouldn't be dabbling in the exciting world of graphic design, either... I love how Yuzu is able to inspire so much creativity in all the rest of us
  4. @PoohandYuzu you finally got to see him skate with your own eyes!!! I'm so pleased and excited for you!
  5. Yes he is, I think. The height he gets on that flying sit spin! I wonder what his standing jump stats are...
  6. Roman works hard at responding to people - he gives out YouTube hearts pretty generously, I've gotten a couple.
  7. Brought to you by the people who wrote "Blame Canada"...
  8. Boitano was never the sharpest tool in the shed but this sounds so dumb.
  9. I was expecting Peizerat to run and win. But I guess he has talked too loudly about reform for any of the old guard to support him.
  10. Word of advice - take that particular translator's work with a grain of salt.
  11. Plushy has a profoundly unique idea of suitable father-son activities. But I think he's a good dad.
  12. Indeed! Witness the dauntless aunties that show up to every competition.
  13. But you know he won't ... or at least he won't sound like it. He'll deliver all this salt with the same cheerful smile and perky delivery he uses now, as if saying these things is only logical. Because they are.
  14. Repeated for great justice...why, Daniil, why?!!
  15. Yeah that's more or less what I thought
  16. No. I tried Google Translate and it says the same thing - 'assess the physical damage' but doesn't indicate to what he's referring. Based on context, I'd take it as more of a general, 'see how I feel', kind of comment, not anything serious.
  17. Ah, I missed when he said that. I read a judge's account of why it took so long for P/C's scores - apparently the moment they took the ice, there was a glitch of some kind and none of the judges' computers worked properly and they couldn't see the video replay, or some such, so they had to walk around the rink to another video workstation to review.
  18. And we'd all be watching him for the shade.
  19. Yuzu commentates synchro --> suddenly synchro becomes the most popular sport on the planet. When/ where did Yuzu say that about European ice dance? Although tbf, saying ice dance judging is suspicious is kind of low-hanging fruit.
  20. In all fairness to Raf, I think he actually would be willing to push Nathan harder and higher, but the athlete has to be willing to do what it takes, too, and Nathan isn't focused on skating to that extent, to the exclusion of all else. I've always gotten the impression that Raf secretly tears his hair out over Nathan and wishes he had the intensity of focus that Yuzu does. And having been a swim coach myself, I'm very sorry to hear you had a coach treat you that way.
  21. On the other hand, look at what she does on the ice. 3A, and training quads? Ambitious programs with great choreography and music that got better every time she did them? Does Rika really need to verbally express her determination to win? Her actions speak for themselves. Don't forget that doing something, as opposed to talking about doing something, is also a Japanese value. If she really were meek and mild, she probably wouldn't be skating at this level in the first place.
