Well, he had a point...Pooh (the original bear cub that inspired A.A. Milne) actually does come from the Canadian forest... But there's a subtlety to Scott's question that someone who isn't used to Canadian English might not get. When he says 'Where does that come from? ' about Pooh, what he means is, 'Why is Pooh your mascot/what does Pooh mean to you?'.. in other words, he's trying to understand Yuzu's love for Pooh. And Yuzu did pick up on that when he said that Pooh was like a coach watching him.

Same! Scott made Yuzu cry too, with all that praise...and then Yuzu made me cryand now I have to go watch this video a million more times.... Only thing Scott missed was asking him about 4A. And I love how hard Yuzu tried in English before switching to Japanese. His English has improved so much. Just when you thought you couldn't love Yuzu any harder or more...

Oh is this the Scott Russell interview? Yay!!

They don't have to make a decision on the Olympics til May. It could be a whole different game by then. As for Yuzu, I also think it's probably safest for him to stay in Toronto right now, but whether he does will probably depend on SOI.

I'd rather mail them out now than have them kicking around my house for six months and them getting lost or damaged. I can hang onto yours for you if you want.

What I'm working on tonight instead of meeting satellites in Montreal before Worlds: https://photos.app.goo.gl/GanqsvaRYosJsFYd6 Sing out if you want one of these satellite ID badges. They can be blinged up and personalized with your PH handle, RL name, both, or just plain. The ones out on the table are ones that have already been spoken for. And yes, I will mail them if you DM me your address. As for Sven there, he was supposed to be tossed on the ice for a skater, I just hadn't decided who yet.

Oh no! Take care of yourself!

Roman just posted a video about the same thing. His rink was closed as of yesterday and they were scrambling to find ice time at TCC or Granite, but now that's out too. Good thing it's fairly early in the season, but who knows how long this will actually last for? Skaters who still have access to ice right now are definitely going to have an advantage come September. Provided they can keep that ice access...I have a feeling that sooner or later the whole world will be going through the same thing. For example, I just got a message from my uncle in Spain. They're now in lockdown. His girlfriend is an ER doctor, and he's over 65 with a heart problem. Time for anxiety

Their love is eternal, although Ice-chan is a tsundere

If they vote in this, I bet $100 they vote for each other.

Well, by long term I meant lasting a whole season. I know the Russian girls have a short shelf-life.

Scoring aside, I just don't see how she can successfully deliver results over the long term when she's lacking such a fundamental basic thing. The fact that she does is a testament to her own athleticism and determination, but raw physical talent will only get you so far. And we've seen this with her losses to Scherbakova and Kostornia already. Quads are not the be-all end-all

I know. There's nothing in that program run-through that made me feel it would deserve a medal at Worlds. But when even the stroking is off....!
-
I don't know how to put this but, compared to a lot of other skaters, her basic stroking seems like it costs her a lot of effort. She really looks like she's labouring during those moments. Her skating is clearly not effortless. 5 quads but she can't fly across the ice.

Not Yuzu related, but if anyone is thirsty for some skating, the World Junior Synchro Championships are streaming live right now: Synchro has a charm and a fascination all its own. I love that the athletes are such a mixed bag of shapes and sizes but the whole team is in unison.

He does like to revisit programs that he didn't feel got their due, so maybe we'll see it eventually some day. I adored the flag hijinks at ACI. Glad that Keegan acted on that impulse and started the show.

Good thinking!

LOL! Beware the fanyu invasion! As for effects on people, it's not like I can talk, his effect on me leaves me in need of CPR....
-
I feel like we should all be volunteering at it this year. Lord knows we put all those sweet little old ladies who run it through a lot the last two years
-
He's taking lessons from Nam, maybe? Not going to lie, Nam's programs at SCI this year left me wondering whether he was trying to make love to the audience. Anyway, he's 25 now... A man grown...why not have some innocent(ish) fun with the audience? He's just enjoying his effect on people, is my guess
-
His audience interaction skills are second to none, seriously.

When he spotted my crappy little 'Canada loves Yuzu' poster at the ACI medal ceremony and cracked up laughing. The jury's still out as to whether he thought it was genuinely funny or not, or whether he was simply reacting to the poster beside mine ( which had Tokyo Ghoul and YowaPedal on it), but I feel like I made him laugh with joy, and I was walking on Air the rest of the day. Second most favorite moment: during the skaters' final lap at the SCI Gala, I called out 'Arigato Yuzuru' to him, and he turned and made the heart shape with his hands in my general direction. There was no way he could see who it was that had called out to him, but he wanted whoever it was to know they were heard. This beautiful man....
-
You know what I miss the most about 4 min 30 programs? All the time skaters had to do beautiful spins. Etude just reminded me of that. Even though it's a SP.

Same! But maybe he was just flying around the rink for cardio. He moves so darn fast.
