  1. A super intriguing tidbit from the Skate Canada archives This is the first time 3Lz was ever done in competition and it's flippin' amazing - delayed rotation, great height, just floats away. Also, pay attention to the creative jump entrances ( including a jump from a scratch spin) and footwork sequence in the middle. Other things of note: the five minute run time and the fact that Carmen was a warhorse even then Also note the judges sitting right on the ice...a tradition that maybe needs to come back in some form.
  2. I thought this was happening tonight! I missed it 😭
  3. Just thought I'd share this. Currently sitting in a local rink without the ice and this is what the surface of the concrete looks like, all scratched and chipped. Presumably from jump practice. Gives you an idea of the forces at work. why am I in an iceless rink? It's the local COVID-19 assessment center right now
  4. Legions of fanyus would be overcome and faint dead away...the ones that aren't screaming the roof off, anyway
  5. all part of Yuzu's plan for world domination You know, when your competitors and training mates gush over you like this, you're the real deal.
  6. But he's really tempted, because he'd love his skaters to pay attention and do what he says
  7. And Plush decides to rejoin the competitive world as ice dancer himself, with Yagudin as his partner, while simultaneously luring Raf to his coaching team with offers of skaters who will actually listen to what Raf is telling them.
  8. That would be EPIC! I vote Meryl Davis to skate all the Yuzu parts... Not going to lie, I love that Yuzu has Bollywood fanyus.
  9. please shave, Patrick. Also, good job with the donation.
  10. So there's this: No more 'baby' Jun!
  11. Actually, wasn't it Ice-chan? Keegan stole her heart :D.
  12. Ditto. The National Post did an analysis of where all our early cases came from, and the US was by far the main source: https://nationalpost.com/news/politics/canadas-early-covid-19-cases-came-from-the-u-s-not-china-provincial-data-shows . I never thought I would agree with Doug Ford, but he is 100% correct on this point. Also, watching what's going on in the US makes my heart ache. It's like watching a friend deliberately self-destruct. I'm thinking that the population density is relatively low in Alaska, so things like opening up a rink are much less risky, because they just over all have fewer people around to be in them. Likewise, I expect rinks in Nunavut or New Brunswick will open up much earlier than rinks in Toronto.
  13. I had to watch the video several times before my brain believed it was real. And I thought the same as you, I hope Dai's cheque was many orders of magnitude big.
  14. I thought the rule changes announced yesterday directly took aim at the patented Tutberidze cheated quad technique, actually. That's if they're used as intended, which they won't be.
  15. Well isn't that interesting. I've always thought Nathan had miles of room for improvement, can't wait to see what happens while he tries to make those improvements. Also, sounds like this is the beginning of their big push for Beijing. If Yuzu is serious about trying to win there, he's got his work cut out for him.
  16. More importantly, which is tastier? I mean, if Yuzu were actual cake....he'd be the ne plus ultra of cakes, no doubt, the likes of which even one bite would send the tastebuds to heaven...
  17. That was fast. I think it took a year for Olympic Channel Ballade to get to 1 million, didn't it?
  18. I think there must be some kind of special visa class for entertainers and sportspeople, because otherwise we'd never get big American or international music acts etc coming here, but what it is I have no idea. It'd be fairly limited I would think.
  19. I think you don't understand what Canada means by 'permanent resident'. Most of the people who train here would not qualify for permanent resident status.
  20. Canada's borders are still closed to nearly everyone. I think it will be a while yet before any non-Canadian skaters who train here will be able to come back.
  21. I mean, if this kind of injury showing up across multiple skaters at a young age doesn't give the coaches pause, something's very very wrong.
  22. Wow, that's exciting! Good news indeed.
  23. Yeah, seems like a mass exodus is starting? Strange.
  24. Oh, you're right. It was Kazuki who went to Krasnoyarsk. Anyway, lots of university athletes on the Japanese team.
