  1. Indeed. You can pull Gwendal Peizerat and do a world tour...
  2. It's a quote from a five-minute-long mini TV program series about muscles hosted by an exercise physiologist, and Tatsuki joined the program as a guest who was an ex-figure skater. It is not a program like the ones that analyze sports based on data. They have casual talk sharing their experiences, knowledge, and insights regarding how muscles work, and sometimes muscular models demonstrate what the host/guest explained in words. There were some interesting discussions here and there, but as a whole, it wasn't deep. Not sure if it was the chemistry/lack of it between them or the way their conversation got edited. The quote is from the very end of the last episode. The exercise physiologist mentioned the evolution of jumps naming quint and quad Axel and asked Tatsuki if the jump was the most burdening element for skaters' muscles. Tatsuki responded that, in his opinion, jumps were taxing for the gastrocnemius muscle the most. Then he started explaining the difficulties in increasing the amount of rotation, like, when you focus too much on leaping up, you can't rotate fast, but when you focus too much on rotating, you can't leap high, so skaters have to find their best balance. Then suddenly comes the quote. Like Brian's comments shared on the last few pages, the flow of the story is a bit strange. So I suspect his words were edited. That said, it was frustrating to hear this comment because, firstly, he didn't explain why he thought 4A was possible while the quints were not. Secondly, I knew he had known the risks and the difficulty of continuing practicing to master new jumps when he decided to retire at the age of 25, judging that he would not be able to master multiple types of quads. Thirdly, I don't understand why the director thought it was cool to edit their conversation this way. But I personally don't think this comment and the program deserve much attention, time, and energy in time like this. There are many others who admire Yuzu's courage and continuous efforts and support him warmly.
  3. Well, it happens in any country I guess? We have our own share of articles with oddly translated comments from non-Japanese speakers or footage of foreign skaters and coaches with questionable voiceovers. I think we will have new footage of Brian with voiceover next week during or after NHK for sure.
  4. Perhaps Brian believes that Yuzu would not choose to withdraw because of a minor injury?
  6. May you witness many good performances! Take care and have fun! Cheer for Kao and Sota for me if you can! I released my Gala ticket on Thursday, and it found its new owner today. Hope they will have fun too. I had been feeling very strange since when I got the ticket because I wasn't supposed to be in Tokyo this November, and earlier this autumn, I wasn't sure if the number of the cases would be small enough to hold an event with an audience. For some personal reasons as well, I was 85-90 percent certain that JNats2019 was the last live figure skating competition for me. (Yes, that heartbreaking JNats where Yuzu was beautiful in and out as always nonetheless!) So after I heard the news of Yuzu's withdrawal, it felt more natural and reasonable for me to skip this NHK and go back to my original plan. However, now, I am feeling a bit differently about the future. Although I am not going to any skating event this season, I will at least make efforts to be at some event sometime because I want to witness the return of the King, even if it may be the King who has returned some time ago (and hopefully, see you there too, @Kizuna!) As to JNats, (this year) at the moment, it is really hard to imagine how things will be by then. I am hoping his rehabilitation goes well and he will have a happy birthday at least... If anyone goes to JNats, I am wishing you good luck on the ticket battle!
  7. Thanks to Shu-Pa! san on Twitter, I came across a beautiful video made by Yuzu fans in Russia. I , , and at the end. I hope this message will reach Yuzu

  10. Some of the people who worked with Yuzu in the past have tweeted messages of support, so let me share them. (I just wanted to translate something cheerful for a change ) Nobuhide Abe, the director of NHK documentary "Another Stories" "When you see a silver lining while you are trying to figure out the best way A staircase will appear in front of you A staircase only you can see but is certainly there When you miss a step, it is just a coincidence It is not the fault of the staircase It is not the fault of the one who tried to go up It is, of course, not the fault of the destiny If you have to find a cause, it is because of the height of your aim You will gain You will come back You can evolve The staircase is still in your sight" Toru Yaguchi, the photographer of Yuzuru Hanyu 2019-2020 "Thinking that he must have been training like him, I got even more excited to see him next time. I just do what I have to do to be ready for the next time, train myself and study. I will also re-watch Ten to Chi to every day! (I failed to watch it yesterday as I fell asleep, so I watched it this morning!)" Satoshi Takebe, the music director of Fantasy on Ice (Quoting Yuzu's message) "To make this comment after getting injured. His mental strength always amazes me. I have been missing his skating as we could not hold Fantasy on Ice for two years in a row. I am praying for his speedy recovery! and am hoping to see you again..." Now, I am going to go back to my daily routine and try to do what I have to do and what I can do while Yuzu is doing his best! This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].
  11. It's an orthopedic surgeon providing his opinion based on his experiences with foot joint ligament injuries in general. He says it usually takes 5-6 weeks to come back from the grade three (the most serious) ligament injury. But mind you, he isn't treating Yuzu. You will see many of these in the coming weeks, but I recommend you to focus on announcements from himself, JSF, his team, etc. If any of you who wasn't here in 2017 and wants to know how things went on the media, here is an archive of news clips and their transcriptions during the 2017-2018 season. It is not a user-friendly archive because I tried too hard to hide the videos from rights holders, and it is probably full of dead links now as I haven't maintained it for a long time, but from the summaries and transcriptions/translations, you may see how we got updates via media until Yuzu came back.
  12. I was going to warn you about this article from Yomiuri Max is quoting. As some of the replies in the thread say, the original Yomiuri only says that Yuzu has entered for COR. I have checked some of the articles from major Japanese newspapers, and naturally, none of them had the info regarding when Yuzu is planning to come back. The announcement from JSF is the information source of these "sources." If you have read past several pages, you have already read everything they shared in the announcement, that Yuzu has withdrawn from NHK, the cause of withdrawal (right foot joint ligament injury,) and the message from him. ETA: PDF of the announcement from JSF https://www.skatingjapan.or.jp/common/img/info/21NHK_Yuzuru Hanyu.pdf
  13. Sending a big bearish hug to everyone. Please take care of yourself as well.
  14. Thanks for sharing! The original message is a bit stronger than the DeepL translation. Nekomasamune says, "I believe Hanyu Yuzuru senshu's recovery from his injury and pray for it."
  15. Not sure if he starts the on-ice rehab right away, but if he has a clear vision of the rehab, I guess the injury is not worse than the ones he experienced in the past, at least. But dealing with such an injury every two years would never be easy. Hope there is any way we can support him even for a bit as fans. As the one who witnessed his comeback to NHK in 2019 with @Kizuna, I don't take this as a curse. It's just he is trying to master such a difficult jump which is his dream.
  16. Kiyozuka san (The pianist of Haru yo koi): ""Gain something from this injury as well." I truly respect him." This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].
  17. Text version of his comment from NHK NEWS WEB (https://www3.nhk.or.jp/news/html/20211104/k10013334791000.html) and my rough translation (It seems some translations have already been posted so use it as a supplement if you can) I never thought I would read such news before reacting to some earlier comments. The description of the injury sounds similar to the ones we heard in 2017 and 2019. At the moment, it is not clear how serious it is, but it may be easier to get proper care here than in summer since the number of Covid cases is much lower now. I just hope he can receive good care and be able to get well soon. This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].
  18. Here, the number of cases is a lot lower than that of this summer, but Nobu's case reminded me of how tricky the virus was. Hope the situation in your country gets better. Take care and stay healthy
  19. Congratulations, @SuzyQ, @daisyjune ! I also got a ticket, but it is for day 3. I have no idea what I will see in what kind of state of mind NHK Trophy this year isn't selling official practice tickets, but they usually open doors when the last group of skaters is still practicing. The NHK Trophy official site says they are planning to open doors 2 hours before the beginning of the competition, which, for day 2, is 10:23, and the OP for the senior men is scheduled between 10:10-11:20. For covid countermeasures, ID checks, security checks, etc., it may take time to get inside. However, I think it is highly likely that you will be able to witness the last part of the OP unless the organizer changes the schedule for some reason. So be ready and enjoy!
  20. Thank you for translation!
  21. Nobu has finished recuperating and returned to his business today. He says that luckily, he didn't have any symptoms and is now feeling well. Fans who could watch him on local TV say it looked that he was fine and doing his job as usual.
  22. Well, he broke the second GP jinx at NHK2019 and has also attempted 4As this spring at the very venue where NHK2017 took place. That said, controlling the 4A must be tricky, especially during the official practice and 6-minutes warm-up where other skaters are on the ice, so I also hope, wish, and pray for his safety.
  23. Finally watched the recording of the video myself. As this is a season for him to achieve his ultimate goal and every international competition ahead is a chance for him to land it and get it ratified, it wasn't surprising to hear this kind of comment before NHK, but doing imagery training of hearing it and actually hearing it are two different things From his hairstyle, outfit, and the placement of the microphone, it is highly likely a comment from the same day when he was wearing the green pants and said he was thinking his 4A was "mou chotto (almost there)" so he may have already been there or may still be on his way. Either way, I believe he will get there in the end and appear hand in hand with 4A at a competition. May his journey be safe and fulfilling before and after meeting 4A!

  25. I haven't watched senior women's events yet due to having a migraine, but happy for Yuna Aoki for her comeback! Looks like Tomoe is still trying to recover from the injury...
