It's that time of the year - coaching changes 2019/2020
Paskud replied to Fay's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
Why? He survived 4 succesful senior seasons without rival, why he would need any now? We have (had)... two? examples of skaters, who were able to compete at the same level and survive next to each other (Kobe girls and Yuzuru with Javier; and with the latter it wasn't always rainbows with puppies). Meanwhile: whole Alina and Evgenia situation post olympics (and even recently there was some drama on instagram), Mariah stabbed Eunsoo, Satoko is desperate to attempt jumps she herself admits she can't land (and at her rink there are two girls jumping 3a), P/C had... not so nice interview about V/M. -

No, it isn't. We know only that Shoma team was brave (or crazy) enough to contact Eteri side. We don't know what was their decision. -

Meanwhile I sit here and still wait for news about Eunsoo and Tom Z asian girls. -

"Uno’s camp has talked with Tutberidze’s people." LOL, uncle Jack loves drama. -

Shoma while sending signals with his flamenco SP: Javier, adopt me! -

But Eteri has 5 top of the top senior ladies now. Would it be smart to take anyone? If anybody from Russia, Mishin is imo the most possible. And he has camp training soon too. -

I don't think Hamada is good choice. She has Rika, Satoko, Yuna, Ayaka... iirc, some juniors (both girls and boys) and WHOLE ARMY of novice girls. Meanwhile Shoma and his jumps need a lot of attention (iirc whole season he wasn't able to do 4-3 combo in SP). -

Listen! I thought about exactly the same and nOW I CAN'T STOP LAUGHING No, guys, Shoma won't go to Eteri. I think it's not so easy to go to Sambo and simply ask if they will take you. And the only not-russian Eteri skaters I can remember now are Lilbet and Morisi, so no. Now I wonder if this wasn't mistake in translation and he goes only for summer camp or something. Because Shoma leaving his coach seems really unbelievable. -
2019/2020 Season Program Announcements

Satton: I think that she definitely can do hip hop. I even thought recently that after all her elegant programs maybe this is finally time for a big change. And it's great that she is challenging herself. It's only this egyptian thing that needs to go. Rika: People see Baghdad in title and jump into conclusions. I think this program is much more abstract. And dark. By looking at it this way it's very Rika. And I don't think it's not possible to skate to it (Wakaba would do wonders with it), but for Rika it may be too early. Looks like she still not quite know how to interpret it. On other hand it's still May and I trust Hamada team that they will help her and during GP it will look even better. Now I remembered how people were calling her Clair de Lune boring. Now you have not-boring program. *comes back to praying for Yuna's program* -
Of course it's different. Zuz never had two the same programs. But fire, drama, anger, struggling against adversity - it's good, old Zuzu type of thing.
-
Is it really that new? For me it looks like come back to young Romeo.
-
I thought about it already and for me it wouldn't change that much. Only chances for Shoma at SkAm are this way higher. On other hand this would open a possibility for Zuz at NHK. Hmm, but I still think USfed will want their wonder boy on home ice, so: SkAm: Nate/?Vince? + Boyang/Kolyada/Shoma SkCa: Zuz + Boyang/Kolyada + Keegan IdF: Nate/ Vince + Shoma/Kolyada CoC: Nate/Vince/?Zuz? + Boyang + ?Keegan? CoR: Nate/Zuz + Kolyada + ?Keegan? NHK: Vince + Shoma Plot twist: Zuzu lurks here and picks SkAm and IdF only to troll us all.

It's not about liking or not. I simply don't see anything "oriental" (like you said) in Rika's SP. -

That's exactly what I feared. How much you like this program depends on how much you like the music. Without "Baghdad" in title would you call it belly dance music? And I never would call Rika delicate. -

I think Rika's SP isn't that bad. It's only music that is... very unique. And for many people not their cup of tea (including judges and that's what I fear now). -

I watched Satton's SP and cringed. Egyptian hands. God, no. Simply no. WTF Richaud has in mind? Now I need to pray for Yuna's program. -
Yuzuru disagrees with you.
-
He simply never skated internationally to a song with japanese lyrics. Not even an exhibition. That's why pudding is unlikely. Outside of Japan Nats maybe.
-
You see? Here is problem. Again the same. He had a lot of ups and downs in his career and know how to deal with them. He knows how to motivate himself.
-
I know. And I hope we will see them doing SBS Y-spirals in Sendai.
-
Of course they train sometimes together. That's not the problem. The problem is that whatever Zu does, first thing what people tend to assume is that it must be someone else recent influence. Because he can't be creative or motivated on his own. Maybe Y-spiral indeed came from Jason. We don't know after all, right? But why first thing some people here assumed was "It must be Jason, not Yuzuru's own idea"?
-
No, sorry. Yuzuru always was kuyashii monster. WTF does Evgenia have to do with this?!
-
Instead we have heart attacks during every finale.
-
You think so? Imo Zu has his own view how he wants his skating to look like. View that was developed by him long time ago (around 2002-2006 olympics). It has nothing to do with anybody currently competing. He had spirals long time ago in his programs. Even as a novice! Spiral was in TFTT. And in Seimei2.0. And Origin of course. He has problems with holding them when they are in second half of program, when he is tired. And i'm sure some time ago there was footage of him doing y position off-ice (during one of media days?). It really can't be his own idea? If Boyang decided to join TCC last year, would you call Zu's current 4lz attempts a Boyang influence? And Pudding is only thanks to Alina's POTO? I think Sendai needs another Shizuka postument. This time with Y-spiral.
