In what way PR and borderline URs among Eteri skaters might help Shoma. I'm sorry, now I realised you might not see your second point when your comment I quoted isn't fully showed. I'm stupid. Hmm, I don't think this is that much not thought out? At least he gives himself some options. But it definitely sounds like desperate (and too late in off-season) decision. Like what Wakaba would do, if she didn't won silver medal at worlds.

And in what way this is good thing and will help? I don't think Shoma will go to Eteri, because: 1) Sambo is as overcrowded as TCC, if not more. There are simply more skaters on ladies side. 2) Will be rus fed happy with this? 3) The Eteri rumour came from uncle Jack and I don't think he is good source of information. Additionaly, he worded it very vaguely. For now we only know that it rather isn't NA (because TSL is quiet) and not Mishin. 4) Does it mean we won't call him Shoma anymore, but Shomochka?

Well, if Shoma says so, I respect it. Rival at your rink works imo when you don't have the same goal. Nate doesn't have anybody with actual quads in Raf team. Jason doesn't have anybody at TCC with who he will need to fight for spot before 2022 olympics. The same way... I'm not Shoma fan, so I'm not sure, but I think he also had rink mates. Mako for example has the same coach. Rink mates. Not rivals. Because when goal, for example gold medal, is the same, you have P/C saying that their happy family at Gadbois was destroyed the moment V/M came. Btw, Shoma thinks he needs rink rival and I respect this. But anybody else implying that he can't do single step forward without someone pushing him... it reminds me about "Yuzuru needs someone because Javier's retiring" talk from last year and I don't like it. At the end of the day it may be helpful, but imo it's not our place to speculate.

Why? He survived 4 succesful senior seasons without rival, why he would need any now? We have (had)... two? examples of skaters, who were able to compete at the same level and survive next to each other (Kobe girls and Yuzuru with Javier; and with the latter it wasn't always rainbows with puppies). Meanwhile: whole Alina and Evgenia situation post olympics (and even recently there was some drama on instagram), Mariah stabbed Eunsoo, Satoko is desperate to attempt jumps she herself admits she can't land (and at her rink there are two girls jumping 3a), P/C had... not so nice interview about V/M.

No, it isn't. We know only that Shoma team was brave (or crazy) enough to contact Eteri side. We don't know what was their decision.

Meanwhile I sit here and still wait for news about Eunsoo and Tom Z asian girls.

But Eteri has 5 top of the top senior ladies now. Would it be smart to take anyone? If anybody from Russia, Mishin is imo the most possible. And he has camp training soon too.

I don't think Hamada is good choice. She has Rika, Satoko, Yuna, Ayaka... iirc, some juniors (both girls and boys) and WHOLE ARMY of novice girls. Meanwhile Shoma and his jumps need a lot of attention (iirc whole season he wasn't able to do 4-3 combo in SP).

Listen! I thought about exactly the same and nOW I CAN'T STOP LAUGHING No, guys, Shoma won't go to Eteri. I think it's not so easy to go to Sambo and simply ask if they will take you. And the only not-russian Eteri skaters I can remember now are Lilbet and Morisi, so no. Now I wonder if this wasn't mistake in translation and he goes only for summer camp or something. Because Shoma leaving his coach seems really unbelievable.

Satton: I think that she definitely can do hip hop. I even thought recently that after all her elegant programs maybe this is finally time for a big change. And it's great that she is challenging herself. It's only this egyptian thing that needs to go. Rika: People see Baghdad in title and jump into conclusions. I think this program is much more abstract. And dark. By looking at it this way it's very Rika. And I don't think it's not possible to skate to it (Wakaba would do wonders with it), but for Rika it may be too early. Looks like she still not quite know how to interpret it. On other hand it's still May and I trust Hamada team that they will help her and during GP it will look even better. Now I remembered how people were calling her Clair de Lune boring. That's exactly what I feared. How much you like this program depends on how much you like the music. Without "Baghdad" in title would you call it belly dance music? And I never would call Rika delicate.

I think Rika's SP isn't that bad. It's only music that is... very unique. And for many people not their cup of tea (including judges and that's what I fear now).

I watched Satton's SP and cringed. Egyptian hands. God, no. Simply no. WTF Richaud has in mind? Now I need to pray for Yuna's program.

He simply never skated internationally to a song with japanese lyrics. Not even an exhibition. That's why pudding is unlikely. Outside of Japan Nats maybe.

You see? Here is problem. Again the same. He had a lot of ups and downs in his career and know how to deal with them. He knows how to motivate himself.
