Lol ok if no one else remembers reading that I may have misunderstood, last night I could swear I read something on this thread about costume designed by Johnny, but it may have been someone's opinion instead of actual fact, or maybe it was just my wishful thinking - relax, you're safe
-
Maybe I misunderstood something from the report, but wasn't Johnny commissioned to design Yuzu's costume for the SP, like he did for RJ2 and NDDP before? That's what I meant when I said I'm looking forward to another Johnny-designed costume for Yuzu, not that he will be wearing a Johnny style costume. I'm sure Johnny will design something specific for him and his unique style.

I'm surprised that Otonal is not getting more , it's one of my favourite Johnny programs, but then again for me Johnny can do no wrong lol, I like everything he's done so far. Also, if you ask me this program is quintessential Johnny, just as Nijinsky is quintessential Plushy. That's pretty much why I was so shocked and pleasantly surprised earlier to see fanboy extraordinnaire Yuzu choosing them. It really is the ultimate tribute to his idols and I'm not crying no, I'm not. Also, let me be the (first?) to say I love Johnny's music cut of it. It is a little more understated, sure, like it's not jumping at you for being skate-able, but I think that precisely its subtle quality is what worked so well with Johnny's performance. Then again, I might be biased, like I said that program just spells out Johnny for me (when he got it right, because funny enough he's skated this program very beautifully, and he's skated it abysmally too, but that's Johnny for you). I am very curious what JB's choreo and Yuzu will make of it. Oh yes, and also let me definitely be the first to say that I am looking forward to another Johnny-designed Yuzu costume. I've loved all the previous ones he's done for Yuzu. Johnny has style, guys! Come on, I can't be alone in thinking this, LOL. I'd let him dress me anyday mmmhmm! I have a question, has anyone done such tributes before in figure skating before? I know that skaters have used music that other people have used before, but did they explicitly say they were tributes?

Im actually super ok with all this

This is a very good point. In any GOAT debate, also when discussing the achievements of any person as such, we shouldn't overlook the context. Not to downplay anyone's achievements but because it is of big importance.

Unfortunately, that's a fan edit, the actual CM doesnt feature Yuzu, but it is pretty funny still (yes I did believe for one wild moment that this was the actual CM....)

I found the chocolate video a while back and I've watched it several times since. I love how focused he is about the whole thing. You give him something new to do and you can bet he's gonna give it everything to try and be the best at it. Love that about him. also you are right, he is super cute at the end when he finally gets to eat some.

That pic of him with pink hair is so 80s punk hahaha I always thought those blue highlights were a trick of the lights (even though they look completely awesome). Speaking of blue hair, there's a pic of him posing for a FAOI group pic wearing a blue wig that suits him A+++, but I can't find it in good quality
-
LMAO stahp, there's only as much hollering in helpless laughter as I can take But I hope you'll post that ode to his arm hair if you do write it
-
@Xen, sorry but I have to say it: You're awesome! That pic of him blonde is the stuff of nightmares for me It's too bad he hates all things silver, I'd like him to pull a Victor Nikiforov just for the lulz.

What's he doing there?

Speaking of Etude, which is one of my fav programs, I love how dramatic it is, are there any other performances other than 2011 COC, 2011 GPF and 2012 Worlds? In competition, I mean, not EXs. My fav of those performances is the Cup of China one. My favs have been mentioned before, but occasionally I also have an unlikely favourite - like his POTO at Worlds, even though it has some mistakes, because it's very momentous and more polished than the previous ones and he's fighting for it like there's no tomorrow. I love POTO in general, although I only watched his 2014 COC once, I cringe at those falls, knowing the extent of the injuries he had. It's too bad, because that costume is gorgeous. NDDP is a program I don't really like at all, like choreo and stuff, but I still watch it from time to time, mostly because I like the music. (groans everywhere, yeah yeah, I know, it's a warhorse...) I love Johnny Weir's NDDP program and I understand why Yuzu wanted to do his own NDDP, it's a classic and it works so well to skate to....Just too bad the choreo wasn't better. Again, I love the costume, though! White Legend is a program I feel I haven't seen enough, and I love it. (Sochi gala, 2012 worlds ex and MOI 2011 is all I've seen of it).

Even more OT, but I'm doing my annual summer Harry Potter re-read (don't ask haha) and I'm still background-thinking about Yuzu, and since there's been a few jokes about him as the chosen one, I had to do this: Yuzuru Hanyu and the Japanese fan war Yuzuru Hanyu and the Quest for the Quad Salchow Yuzuru Hanyu and the Passing of the Torch in Sochi Yuzuru Hanyu and the Curse of the Canadian Silver Yuzuru Hanyu and the Purple Pants Controversy Yuzuru Hanyu and the Half-Mad Quad Lutz Yuzuru Hanyu and the Elusive Media Day Yuzuru Hanyu and the Deathly Quad Axel I think some of these titles could be better, yeah... But you get the point

Uuu, Keiji is as damn fine as a woman as he is as a man. Too bad that vid is blocked in my country /sigh Lurker Zu, you're fine too, don't worry Question about media day, it's only the program music announced? Or more, like also the layout, maybe costume reveal too?
-
That's super funny but accurate!
-
Nah, he just needs to fluff it up a bit, then it's fine I'm guessing it's the tv/magazine stylists who do his hair for photo shoots and official appearances so he doesn't really have a say in it Always the esthetic with them seems to be have it as flat as possible /sigh

Sorry for off-topic, but I wanna add my two cents to the earlier discussion about the 4Lz. Speaking just for myself of course, I'd be happy if I never see Yuzuru going for the 4Lz again. It's not one of my favourite jumps aesthetically and it's got a high risk of not being executed cleanly - from what I've seen from others, as well. Besides, the angle during rotations, that slant, is scary to me, possibly because I'm chicken. Also, for Yuzuru's ankle, the risk is just not worth the points, especially if it puts strain on it during take off or if he messes up the landing and it makes his injury flare up again, in the long run it's not worth going for it, rationally speaking. Ofc, he may still end up going for it, just because he's Yuzu... He doesn't need it, though. To score points in order to beat the competition, I mean.

Wow, a year ago round this time, it must've been wild around here, having the Oly season to look forward to! I had to bookmark your post as well, @Murieleirum because it was indeed epic I wish I had a singing voice so I could actually sing it with your lyrics, but as it is I'm just imagining everyone you mentioned singing, which is even better, lmao
-
I barely became a fan after these Olympics and now you're talking the r-word...:< Just kidding, I get it. I didn't vote in the poll though, because I honestly don't know what I'd do. I am definitely interested in FS in general, and would most likely continue watching, but I have no idea if anyone would grab my attention the way Yuzu did, and these things can't be predicted. However, I'd be super happy if anyone did, and would invest as much resources in them. Of the currently active skaters, I enjoy watching a lot of them during competitions, but I don't keep track of their doings off season, etc, and wait with excitement for their program announcement, like I do now with Yuzu's (Yuzu drop the program music already yo!) So it's just a big IDK for me, what I'd do. Guess I'll see when it happens, but I'd rather not think about it at this point
-
To me that's 2017 Worlds HL, that's the perfect skate My mind can't process anything even more perfect than that, but I guess if anyone can prove me wrong on that, it's Yuzuru.
-
Edit: He asked the audience to say a few things before beginning today's performance, told them what happened, and that Denis was a kind, honest, almost perfect person and asked for a moment of silence.
-
I know Yagudin was very close to Denis, and he knows his family too, there's so much raw pain in that video, it's heartbreaking to watch, and in his previous instagram post where he had some strong words (perfectly justifiable under the circumstances imo). I hope he will have the strength to overcome this. Thanks for the translation, @Fay!
-
God, what a horrible, senseless and unfair thing to happen, and to a bright young person who had so much talent and ideas and hope... Like everyone else, I just can't believe it. Condoleances to his family and friends. RIP Denis. So much to live for, gone much too soon.

This pic is iconic, words fail me

Poll: Yuzu's new ultra low Hydroblade - Did he kiss the ice?
Nutmeg replied to Danibellerika's topic in Yuzuru Hanyu
I know it's not feasible, but he totally made it look like he did, so I'm gonna go with it. Like one of my favourite writers said, the world itself is an illusion that we must take seriously, so I'm gonna take this illusion of Yuzu kissing the ice super seriously
