  1. This is exactly my take too, it sounds like Yuzu. (but they don't seem to be worried about the loop...!)
  2. So there's no updates until, like practice in PC, right? ...(I'm afraid it's been life under a rock for the most part fro me) (I don't mind what people are saying, it doesn't affect anything!) I do wish I knew, so near now.
  3. I certainly hope you didn’t think I was being flippant. But yes, while he may take into account his scoring potential, I always felt there was a calm clarity that he could always win. Even when Shoma almost beat him in points, I think he saw it that way, that he saw it more that he himself messed up (in the short. Even Shoma was describing it that way.) My words probably sounded too cold… It’s just I notice how eagle-eyed he is about people’s skating. (that’s something that’s astounding to me, how fast his eye picks things up) And what’s more it’s in his atmosphere (that’s my subjectivity I realize). I do not mean arrogance. He's certainly described Shoma's strengths himself. (but his eyes are very relaxed when he’s ribbing Shoma and whispering “I won’t let you win”, kind of like tickling a kid) I don’t find Nathan’s skating near Yuzu’s myself. And I certainly don't know about his level of "threat". But Yuzu had a very different look in his eyes when he looked at Nathan walking by. I'd never seen him have such a competitor's face. I guess as much as I look askance at the media trying to create their showdowns, I suppose I think somehow Nathan is on everyone's mind a teensy bit more. (Yes, those quads are on the mind. And maybe youth. Maybe even momentum which I'm afraid is there) If I talk more I feel like I’m going to further misunderstanding of what I am saying. Look, of course Shoma or any of the top contenders could win over each other. This is the part of all competition that makes it the sport part I think. But I just don’t happen to believe Yuzu planned his practices with Shoma in mind that much… (that’s all…and the fact that we were talking about Yuzu keeping things close… half-jokingly, i just didn’t think he had Shoma on his mind!)
  4. lol! I know, right? but it always seemed to me, that Yuzu’s never spent one day worrying about Shoma. not even 1 day. (beyond whether he could make him laugh!)
  5. This. Totally agree! And besides, he/they might not be keeping things close because of a negative...maybe Yuzu doesn't want to over-stimulate "someone's" quad count! lol. I've a good feeling about this...(I think he's possibly in great shape. Which, in his case means awesome ability...)
  6. I had difficulty following, but if you equal responding and defending, to giving a nasty retort, I understand what you’re saying. I just think it’s not necessarily wrong or detrimental to give a differing and honest opinion (and perhaps more enlightening than one would ever know!) and not to cower under some threat that you would be called something.
  7. I really wouldn't worry about this. I know there's some of this, and it feels like a big deal, but it comes with the territory of defending. On the whole the support of the fans defending words have been more of a help, a good thing. It really has. Imagine if no one stood up. Who cares about a few yuzu-fans-attacking comments! All in all, drop in the bucket, it doesn't stick in the whole scheme of things, i assure you.
  8. Yuzu reigns in Nathan's subconscious! (not Vera's, because I read somewhere that she asked NATHAN, his image and the direction he wanted to go)!!
  9. I just knew it! (No, of course I am not knowledgeable, less knowledgeable than the average Yuzu fan but) Somehow I have more faith in Yuzu's approach and decisions in his skating, and believed he would figure out how to make it. I see his injuries as bad luck rather than mistakes in strategy, I know, that's me, but he's super intelligent and surely tremendous in skating knowledge!!!
  10. This is such an important point for me as well, from first hand experience. I've had really wonderful Japanese people translate Japanese for me, only to realize that they didn't understand how misleading or even incorrect their english expression was! I have lived long enough that I can wait quite a few years for Yuzu's own book to arrive when he has the time and reflection to write his auto the way he finds fit to write it. For now, the current-ness of direct interviews are more informative to me. (I will hear about the book vicariously from other readers maybe)
  11. taking a quick break here, just to thank you, because it's ending up to be a lot of work! I'm hoping everyone's feelings can be eased a little, but, I like to think, since this is the season that turned out this way, the focus on physical therapy, recovery, ALL OF THAT, instead of the succession of, and crescendo of, competitions, may have been a period of focusing on the day to day. (you see, this is a known meditation practice) This could well have been a time that gives him a wanted groundedness! There's something in life, where when you feel your options have suddenly become more limited, that you zero in and get something better! it's an edge! This isn't for the list, but I just feel, now, a month away, it's time for his fans to give him more...um...surge, crescendo, not the time now to draw back and be worried. And I get this from what I understand of what he's like, what he apparently needs. I'm feeling good about how he is and his determination now! TRUST HIM!
  12. I went and listened and listened again! (well, it was fun) now i'm not totally certain about the やばい。And he certainly reconsidered the おくびょう、but I couldn't pick it up (a more objective word?) Let's wait for a native speaker! But i think you got the gist of it right!!
  13. I read your later post on your reactions, kaerb, and I agree! but i used this post to reply to, only to respond (for what it's worth) with what I heard... I do think he said やばい! I got the sense he meant he no longer wanted any iffy situations, or that that was really not a good idea. The おくびょう、I would say is closer to having had fearfulness, which is different from being cowardly! So I took it to mean he said there was an element of fearfulness in him which may have had an influence. But you have here better speakers so it's just my contribution/take on it! (and thank you)
  14. As a pro, I wanted to add something, I hope it makes sense. I have this strong feel, that as much as this means for all of the Olympians, it means more for Yuzu. The 2nd in a row OGM. Perhaps I don't know how he feels, yet it seems to me, a month before, that he would still be on fire for that and would do anything for it. And this is something valuable to the person he is. To not be philosophically hedging his bets so to speak, but aiming to not only win, but win atrociously big. I also say this to boost the spirit of his fans, because I don't want everyone to be resigned or asking him to aim for less, now, a month before. And I want him to feel some of that enthusiasm from his fans. Because watching him, I think he's an athlete that can't even practice well without that fire. So, regardless his physical condition, I think the 2nd OGM is still INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT for him, and THAT is a powerful powerful thing!!!
