all i know is is that i couldn't fckin stand figure skating until i watched him skate and now i know the rulebook by heart.....magnetic isn't a strong enough word for him

sorry im just a bit confused about where you're coming from, could you give us an example? It just sounds like you're not sure how the technical side of Ice Dance is judged (which is fair since it's taken me like a year and half to even get a smidge of an idea if a team skated cleanly or not)

hey guys, do we know when Yuzu filmed his segment in the upcoming 24hr special? I must admit, I'm getting a bit antsy wondering if perhaps he inj*red himself training Miss Nessie and wanted to calculate some timelines

if you watch more and more ID you'll get the hang of discerning between the top teams and the lower ones. For example i always thought the Shibs were really underscored when looking at their scores versus V/M and P/C but after watching those three for a while you can really see the difference between their skill. This is not to say that the Shibs aren't underscored when it comes to PCS because i think a lot of the times they were but PCS being finicky isn't a problem unique to ice dance i do agree with you that ice dance has a 6.0 era judging problem but, well, all the other disciplines have that issue too. Side note: Hubbel/Donohue are number 2 in the world because it's "their time" whatever that means, even though they are technically inferior to many teams (and artistically too, sorry i get so god damned bored by this team-ooh a program where they just act sexy and the story is empty omg how exciting and challenging ooh la la)

and that's your opinion actually. because it's not objectively better for Boyang, obviously, or else he would've gone you're acting like he's some dumb kid who can't make good decisions for himself when in fact have you ever met him? have you met brian and tracy? have you been to TCC? Have you met Boyang's coaches? Or seen his training facility? I doubt it, so actually there's no way you can say with such certainty that TCC is the better option for him, just like i cant say for sure it wouldn't be. the bottom line is we are not Boyang Jin, we do not owe him anything, we have no right. we can certainly be disappointed in his decisions but being outraged is going a little far i think edit: there's more to being an elite skater than just developing good skating skills; so okay Boyang goes to canada and he gets better SS and different packaging. but in the process he loses his consistency and becomes a basket case because he's in a foreign country where not even his coaches speak his language. you've got to be made of stardust to be able to be that strong to move across the world and make your family sacrifice everything just to get better skating skills and better choreography. im not saying this reality would happen but it's just as likely as boyang going to TCC and everything being peachy for him

nerves? what nerves?

i agree im just pissed at the people who are writing him off now saying he'll never be an OGM
-
lol with his longer hair he looked like a character straight from DBZ too, that's when i knew he'd powered up was cuz his hair was longer

deleted (no need for me to get hyperfocused on pedantics, i agree with you guys)

Boyang has had incredibly stellar senior seasons since he debuted, tbh, even without Saint Orser. I dont think it's fair to assume he's out of OGM contention because he's staying with the coaches that have provided him with unprecedented success for a Chinese singles skater. (im bringing a lot of things i saw being discussed in The Other Place because im kinda banned from there or whatever) but the biggest gripe coming from there and @Eclair is that he'll never be as good as he coulda been if he'd gone to TCC, but i dont think it's any of our places as people who couldn't be further away from being ELITE ATHLETES to judge what's best for Boyang or to say which training place is objectively better. I think it's hugely disrespectful to assume he'll never get great results with these coaches who have proven that they are committed to evolving Boyang, as evidenced by his clear progression in skills since his senior debut.

i really dont wanna speculate, nor project any feelings onto Boyang but, we know Yuzuru is a huge source of inspo for him and he may be feeling like he wants to surpass Yuzu his own way. He's sticking to his guns and whether or not that turns out to be a mistake (i guess we'll know by 2022) i gotta respect him for that
-
he'll be okay. yeah he coulda used Team Orser to help push him to the top but it's not like he's a helpless little kid or anything, heck he's the reigning 4CC CHAMP beating out Shoma! And who even knows if he and Orser would've been a good fit? There's still time anyway, Yuzu didn't go to Brian until two years before Sochi and those two seasons turned out really well for him so who's to say a Jin Boyser team isn't in the books?

about Alina's SP, well, she deserves much better than this cut. I read on GS someone theorized that if they'd taken out everything up until Think of Me starts and put it somewhere in the second half of the program that it would work much better and it definitely does. However it just annoys me so much that there have been so many versions of POTO yet it's unthinkable to skate to Prima Donna, for example??? Or Past the Point of No Return, or Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again. These pieces are long enough to choreograph a SP to and not have to worry about cutting in random excerpts that dont make sense!! Also how can you end on Music of the Night and end it before the final note plays??? disgusting lol -
what was your guys' favorite performance of a program? Like for H&L it'd probably have to be his GPF performance (dont get me wrong Worlds is I C O N I C but this is the performance i feel the most emotion from). Then for ballade it'd be 2017 ACI followed closely by 2015 GPF & 2018 Olys of course. Seimei - do i even have to say it?? 2018 Olys no doubt gaaaaah im so bored so im just trying to pass the time lol

oh wow i feel the complete opposite re: shoma! I keep falling asleep every time i try to watch his SP it's soooo dull and the same old same old! I actually really enjoyed seeing how hard he was working to be softer for Moonlight even though it's really not there yet. I have faith he'll bring it out, or maybe i just really hope he will because i love that piece of music. His SP is a big disappointment but hopefully he can bring a new side of him out as the season goes on too. Nathan's LP is disappointing too just because i love woodkid and they really have some interesting songs in their discography but of course they choose one of the more low energy and dull songs. I like his step seq though and his 4F really is handsome, as Dai put it And as far as Boyang goes - well he's the one I have the most faith in in that he'll really work to evolve his programs. I remember last season when i first saw CTHD I really was not feeling it but by the end of the season it'd become one of my favorite SPs for that season anyway go kids! im just gonna try and bask in the last month of pre season before some skaters start falling victim to poor judging -

for someone who's supposedly the ballet posture wunderkind those shoulders are . . . . mighty high and scrunched i dont get it, no one's posture has ever bothered me before now i wanna put him in a scoliosis brace!! stop hunching over to the side!!! -
hmmm i dont know,,,,,if Dai were American then yeah I'd say his cap would be maybe 94 PCS but his skating skills have never really impressed me the way Patrick's, Yuzu's, Jason's, Stephane's, even Deniss's have. He's always been a little slow on the ice as well but he does make up for it with his musicality, performance, and interpretation. But we've witnessed time and time again how judges dont really know how to score those categories so they look towards skating skills as their north star. I think Dai will be lucky to get above 91 PCS so I dont think Yuzu's gonna be outclassed that easily by a guy coming back after four long years. Just look at what taking a one year break did to Pat's PCS

i see your picks and raise you one (1) Somebody To Love 2.0
-
Id only accept a Prince redo if he changes the music to Purple Rain and makes it his FS PLEASE Mr. Hanyu
-
i believe it's an issue because you typically pick with your right foot and i think that causes a lot of stress on your leg joints? More so than changing the edge on your left. Then again I've gone ice skating like 5 times in my life so im reeeaally not an expert

i think he'll have to choose between 4lz and 4a this season and i dont even know about 4lo but my gut tells me 4a will make an appearance this season you'll see . . . YOU'LL ALL SEE
