  1. Thank you for the additions! I'm actually more the type to understand for myself and leave translating to others, because of all the nuances and ambiguities (and I actually dislike translating from any language to any language lol), but I sometimes challenge myself a bit and I liked this and thought it'd be a shame if it got overlooked. But I was pretty insecure so thank you again for clearing up and enhancing it
  2. I think there were probably cinemas showing Pyeongchang in 8K... I'll try a translation of this, though I'm not as good at translating as other fans: "Also, I just want to say that, Hanyu-kun at Pyeongchang in 8K, being soaked in sweat, his faint mustache, the scary face in the middle of jumps, the messy hair after the performance, his crying face when the Gold was confirmed, everything was extremely precious, but most of all, the feelings from that day, that moment, that in my heart felt as overwhelming as surging waves, it was truly great, I love it!" (though 良かった I always find hard to translate properly... literally, it means it was good, but depending on the tone, it can be more like the English "Thank God!", without any actual religious references, but that kind of relief.) Please correct me, as it's likely I missed some nuances... though I think overall, the message should be quite accurate...
  3. I fell for it... But that will only work if it's also choreo by Javier Fernandez and the costume has to be Super Pooh, with inspirations from Super Javi (Yuzu can do his own vocals, to make up for not singing Hana ha saku)
  4. *points at user picture* Bolero 2.0 with adapted costume - and no illusion mesh - for mass murder purposes
  5. As much as I love Linkin Park, their songs are often very dark (totally up my alley >_>) and I think especially after CiONTU, it might be better for Yuzu to stay away from that kind of songs, not to cause more talk. But it's his call. I'd certainly love something really rock! I'd love more stuff like Bon Jovi, though, or Japanese rock. (Or he could do Aerosmith's Pink and cause all those 'men figure skaters should be manly men!' people collective hear attacks with a bright pink costume Don't ask, that idea just randomly popped in my head lol)
  6. It's like the P&G dramatic trailer for the CM that was shorter than the trailer lol And OT, Jeff is heading back to Toronto. For media day, maybe?
  7. You guys have done it again... I wake up to 40+ posts and I'm thinking: "Oh, maybe there's news..." But then I wake up more and "Nah, it's probably just everyone posting a lot asking for news..."
  8. I think Skate Canada usually live streams everything on their Dailymotion page. They certainly live streamed all of ACI - practices and competition - last year. The quality is... far from great, but better than nothing. Japanese TV will surely also have it, but for the in ice action, I think they used the same cameras, so not a huge improvement.
  9. Ah, you're right I remember seeing some slow motion videos or cloe-up pictures of the 4Lz take-off and the ankle lean made me cringe, but it somehow didn't register it was the left ankle And since I had seen others saying the take off would be challenging, I jumped to conclusions. But I guess now they meant what @salty said and it was the picking that made it challenging. I can see that potentially being an issue, though IMO maybe not as bad as the one I feared. Though it totally depends on how bad the ankle issue was and which ligaments were affected, because it could also be a bigger issue than the lean ^_^; With the 4Lz, there's also the issue with the tilted axis. I do wonder if he didn't rush the jump a bit, because he wanted to keep up with the others, instead of waiting a bit more to fix that issue. It's hard to say whether it had gotten better by NHK and that tilted axis which ruined his balance only happened because of his condition, but I still think under normal circumstances, he would have been more careful with trying to force that landing, regardless, aso the injury was more a result of his physical and mental (he was most likely frustrated at getting sick and being unable to do what he wanted; and possibly a bit panicky about Brian's absence) condition.
  10. I, too, doubt that he has any blocks on 4Lz. My only concern about it being back is about the pressure the take off would put on his ankle. While the injury is healed, multiple damages to the ligaments could have made the area more sensitive and I think his take off usually implied a deep sideways bend of his foot, which could remain painful for a while, even after healing and could also lead to more damage long term. He obviously knows better, but that's my totally amateur concern, much more than any mental blocks. I think he knows it wasn't the lutz itself that hurt him.
  11. It's hard to estimate the chances of seeing 4A this season, because we don't actually know where he is with it. Considering the injury and long rehab time, it does seems unlikely, but if the success rate last Summer was what Max said it was, then it might not be impossible. Some reports make it sound like he's still in the early days with it, others make it sound like he's landing it and just has to get it stabilized, so it's hard to know, either way. Also, yes, he'd been landing 4Lo since 2014, he brought it in competition in 2016, we know he'd been training 4Lz for longer than it seemed, he brought it last year. We have no idea how long he's been playing with 4A. (We didn't really know about 4Lz either, until he brought it out. We'd never seen it before. We have seen him playfully trying 4A in 2014, though.) Personally, I wouldn't be surprised either way. And I also wouldn't be surprised if he brought 4A before bringing back 4Lz... I think the ankle should be quite ok for landing. It's the take off on the Lutz (and Flip, I guess? less so on the Loop, probably...) that gave him trouble, as far as I remember (because the foot has to go somewhat sideways, it puts pressure on the ligaments and that could hurt, which means going into the jump it hurts already, then pressure again on landing on a hurting ankle = not fun), more than the landing.
  12. Well, the star-like things are actually part of the ticket site's logo: https://www.lippu.fi/obj/media/FI-eventim/specialLogos/lippufi_73px_v2.png But it does fit Yuzu well! Even if that's not why he was assigned there, what organizer would be stupid enough not to use Yuzu as a main selling point?
  13. He's really letting his hair down grow, isn't he?
  14. I'm probably part of a minimal minority, but I absolutely cannot stand Perfume... I mourn every time they end up playing before artists I like in music shows and I have to suffer through them. But they are very popular, both in Japan and overseas, it seems, so it wouldn't surprise me... I'm all for rock bands, but mainstream rock in Japan isn't really all that... rock lol Not by my tastes at least. He wasn't live, but it was filmed just days earlier. I'm sure he timed everything so he could do the skating class, 24HTV and what other CMs and stuff he had all in that one week in August. But I do wonder if he hadn't had 24HTV, if he had still chosen to do it in August, when he might have been able to do it all after FaOI. I guess it also depends on when he was approached for 24HTV. This year, with FaOI lasting until early July, he might have been able to get everything done before going to Toronto. We'll see, I guess. He knows what works for him best, anyway lol (A live broadcast from TCC would be really cool, too, though. Especially if the theme is people who changed one's life, a lot of people at TCC changed Yuzu's life. Time differences would be an issue, though...)
  15. I'm not sure I'd call myself a Johnny's fan, though I like some Johnny's idols. But to be fair, it doesn't seem Johnny himself has much to do with it and Johnny's appears to be a bit of a sinking ship (I admit I wish those I like would jump ship already...). I wouldn't mind idol culture making a small appearance at the Olympics, because it is part of Japanese culture. (I also personally believe idols deserve more respect than they get, if only for the insane amount of work they do. I've seen lots of reports lately, especially on members of girl groups, collapsing due to overworking. Also, the mental and emotional pressure they suffer is ridiculous. Some say they know what they get themselves into, but IMO, most of them have no idea. They're too young and too naive and get taken advantage of. And this goes for both girls and boys.) The important thing is not to let it overshadow everything else. Japan's biggest selling point seems to me the mix of modern and traditional, so including both modern pop culture and more traditional cultural stuff would make sense. IMO, it'd also be meh if it was all samurai and geisha, because that's stereotypical. Same if they focused too much on technology. So balancing it all out is going to be interesting. (I do wonder if the choices aren't also meant to pacify all those angry at the money being wasted on the Olympics, though >_>) Back to Yuzu, I do expect he might do 24HTV again, but I'm not sure he'll go back to Japan for it... it seems a bit of a waste of time (traveling, jetlag, etc.; unless he has other stuff as well). I think it's more likely he's either filmed something already, in between ice shows, or will do it from a distance... though who knows? At the end of the day, it's not Olympic Season anymore, so maybe he won't worry about wasted time traveling back and forth... We'll see, I guess. I think his participating in 24HTV was announced after the media day last year? So it might be a while longer before we know...
  16. It's also a bit sad that for all of Nomura Mansai's accomplishments, it's his relation to Yuzu - which isn't even that big - that gets pointed out first... >_< It would have been something else if in the article, they pointed out "BTW, Seimei bla bla Yuzuru Hanyu bla bla", but in the title it's pretty... >_<
  17. Link please? I think I remember watching Hana Ni Nare from that, once, and crying over it, but I don't remember Requiem. I've also been searching for that for a while, but while I found various 24HTVs, I'm not sure I managed to find that one again (I did download a whole bunch recently, while searching for that one where they had Yuzu meet with the teachers from the school he was evacuated to. That always makes me cry, too, because I can imagine how much he needed to hear what they told him...)
  18. And it became the running theme of the whole FaOI lol
  19. Even his University's President messes up his name lol (Just a typo in their case, though ) Personally, I find that quite disappointing. I think Yuzu not being like that is part of what makes him so great. He used to do that, too, until he gained enough confidence to choose his own stuff and I believe he's only gotten better and better since then. I think in general, Yuzu has said that he leaves the SP choice to Jeff, although he might tell him generally what he wants ( like, with Chopin, he said he wanted a piano piece, and Jeff came up with Ballade). Even so, though, I think he is far more involved in the process and I'm sure he still has the last word - like if Jeff were to come up with something Yuzu wouldn't like at all, I doubt he'd go along with it. But letting Jeff pick the music for the SP might actually be a different way to challenge himself. With Shae, however, he's fully in charge and I think now that he's shown interest in choreographing, I wouldn't be surprised if she'll be more his guide than his choreographer - or perhaps his mentor in choreographing lol. I still think it's awesome they started working together because I'm not sure how many choreographers would give the skaters as much freedom and control as Shae gives him and go along with all his crazy ideas and do her best to make HIS image come to life. I think that takes a particular kind of talent and they truly seem like a match made in Heaven. And speaking of choreography, did we ever get confirmation of who did Wings of Words? I know the general impression is it was Kenji, but did we ever have it confirmed? (I tried to pay attention to the post-FaOI interviews, but I've been too tired to really process them in detail.) I'm asking because the more I watch it, the more I wonder if Yuzu didn't try doing that one himself, as well (it would explain the more simplistic choreo and it does seem extra enough to be very him). Though then I'd wonder why they wouldn't just say so, like they did on the opening bit...
  20. I think you mean '16-'17 But I'm not sure that's entirely true. Some of the Sochi-related videos include footage of Yuzu introducing his programs for the Sochi season to the media, at Ice Rink Sendai (I think it was; probably because he wasn't yet popular enough for media to travel to Toronto for it). And although I know 2015-2016 Seimei and Chopin were introduced in ice shows, I also have a magazine with articles and interviews from that Summer that greatly resemble the ones resulting from media days last year (interviews about the programs and with each coach and choreographer). So I think it actually might have been happening for a while, just that it wasn't as big a deal until 2016-2017?
  21. I call that false advertising He's not back yet. Not for another 2 months.
  22. I wonder... did we always know ahead of time when media day would be? Or might we just one day start getting news reports as media day is happening? Since it's Yuzu, nothing would surprise me... (not even if he didn't have a media day ) I know last year some of the reporter uncles let us know when media day would be, but I think we heard about it earlier than this? I could be wrong, though...
  23. Never being completely satisfied is the curse of perfectionism, IMO. Most perfectionists always feel there is room for better. So, I'm not sure even Yuzu will ever feel he has attained perfection. IIRC, for GPF15, he also had some issues with one of his 4Ts, aside from the step sequence. (Btw, I always find it kind of ironic that he loses a level in his step sequence not because he's sloppy or lazy or whatever, but because he's too fast and gets too caught up in the music.) And while I adore Worlds'17 H&L, I, too, think it could actually be marginally better, technically. Some of the landings weren't as buttery smooth as he can do them and the Ina Bauer bothers me a lot, because it seems way ahead of the music. I know it's because he has to get ready for the last jump, but after all of his perfectly on the music IBs, that one grates. The interpretation and everything else is amazing and even the technical apart is much better than 99.9% of the rest, but knowing what he is capable of, I know in an ideal, perfect scenario, he can do even better. I'm pretty sure that's how he thinks as well. On top of that kind of 'everything aligns just right and he can do each and every element at the highest level he can achieve' situation, everyone else doing the same, would indeed create his most perfect winning scenario. Honestly, that's a lot of stars that need to align lol I think in a way, Olys this year might also count. He made two mistakes, and Javi made one and Shoma made one, but generally, all three skated really well and the mistakes kind of evened them out. Maybe that played a part into him actually feeling satisfied. (It was also different from Sochi, where both he and Patrick had mini- or not so mini - meltdowns, among a ton of other meltdowns. In PC, each of the three had mistakes, but they weren't that bad and the programs were still really strong despite it.)
  24. Last year, Japanese media had interviews with Brian, Tracy, Shae and Jeff. David was apparently supposed to give interviews as well - which already made us expect NS, especially after we knew Yuzu was repeating Chopin and Seimei, but David was sick those days, so no interviews and we only knew it was NS when the schedule, with songs, for CoR gala was posted online. If David had been available for interviews, though, we might have known during media day. So I think it is possible we'll hear about it at media day. I just can't remember when we first heard the dates for media day (or rather days, because there were two days lol). It was early August last year, but iirc, in 2016, it was in September? Though that was due to the long recovery...
