Oh, I'm not missing out I watch the variety shows (well not since FS has taken over my life), I just avoid all "singing" and "dancing" activities. He's hilarious and sharp as a tack but the cringe is too much to take.

I can't stand idols or cutesy "actors" or that whole industry at all so I was allergic to Yuzu at first, thinking he was from that world. The only idol I can tolerate is Ninomiya who is not very good looking but very wry and a fine actor. I ignore his idol life so I can watch him without secondhand embarrassment.

This my life. Didn't find him to be handsome at first - just blew my mind with SEIMEI. I saw a man moving beautifully, not a beautiful man moving. Just as he fell for Johnny's infatuatingly beautiful skating. And his job is to show us something beautiful, isn't it? I have never found people famous for their good looks beautiful unless their work or souls are clearly so.

When I saw him on Kouhaku being sickeningly cutesy I was all "Uuuugh, not another one. I can't take anymore of these kids!" I didn't realise it was the same elegant and terrifying skater I saw at Boston, the one who made me finally appreciate figure skating. Soooooo... discredited? (Though you can't deny the contrast between performance and K&C isn't entertaining. The commentator uncles and aunties can't resist it, either.)

I just watched a Daisuke documentary and he was talking about how he didn't even know if he enjoyed figure skating. A guy who went to three Olympics. He also said he wished he could have competed at worlds in Tokyo. And pchan said when he came back after his break that he, like all the greats, had trouble staying retired. ( Yuzu, please lend him some of your false modesty) He will stay for sure.

I wonder if he really reads them...

Maybe if you write it in English it will become invaluable study material for him.

Omg it didn't even click that it would be spring. It's going to be so expensive. Even booking accommodation 6th months in advance can be a battle if you don't want to stay in inconvenient or super expensive places (maybe if you're okay with hostels or airbnb it will be okay.) Then to have the Yuzu rush on top of that... JAPAN, WHY YOU STRESS ME OUT SO MUCH?! At least they will have all event passes for foreigners for WC (unless they've changed their minds since last time) so we won't have to travel all the way for 5-10 minutes on only one day (I know it's worth watching other skaters but like so many I would never think of paying so much or travelling internationally to see them.)
