  1. Time flies It's so good to see Sota's recovering and improving. Still so many skaters are suffering from illnesses and injuries. Yuna Aoki broke her left ankle in August and withdrew from JGP, and probably all events this season. Wish all of them quick recovery
  2. It may be my post in July. No video, sorry https://planethanyu.com/topic/749-general-yuzuru-chat/page/4973/?tab=comments#comment-356477 EDIT: Oh, there were also those who have got their teeth into this article, of course
  3. New Magazine "Fujin Koron" Special color photos by Nobuaki Tanaka New Season for Figure Skating! New series starts. "Dancing on the ice" Special edition as the first of the serial. Yuzuru Hanyu "Aiming for even greater heights"
  4. Two Russian boys (Andrei Mozalev and Daniil Samsonov) and two Japanese boys have been qualified for the Finals This wiki link shows the current qualifiers. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019–20_ISU_Junior_Grand_Prix Just in case. http://www.isuresults.com/events/jgp2019/jgpsmen.htm
  5. Shun has won the bronze His jumps are a little bit shaky, but anyway he did not fell. I suppose his shaky jumps may be caused by his practicing quads of various types, and his skating skills has improved and he may be struggled with the timing of jumps. This happened to Yuzuru when he went to Canada and re-trained his skating skills. Just IMO though. SP: 78.41 LP: 141.28 Total: 219.69 Results: http://www.isuresults.com/results/season1920/jgpcro2019/CAT001RS.htm Yuma and Shun have been qualified for the JG Finals https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019–20_ISU_Junior_Grand_Prix
  6. JSF has announced the details of the Nationals (Dec. 19-22) Another bloody ticket battle is to begin https://skatingjapan.or.jp/common/img/event/19AllJapan_summary_information0929.pdf The website page has just started: http://ajfigure.jp/ But I think I can see my future after the lottery
  7. Maybe, maybe not. This Newsweek article may be explaining why figure skating is so popular in Japan, even though it refers to figure skating as just "In Japan, the media elevates male ballet stars (and their sporty cousins: male figure skaters) as role models." https://theconversation.com/boys-dance-too-and-in-japan-they-are-celebrated-122533 Japanese version: https://www.newsweekjapan.jp/nippon/season2/2019/09/248235_1.php Although I sometimes find a nuance of stereotype viewing or prejudice against Japan in Newsweek articles, this article is the one that has tickled my little pride It may be true that Japanese just love BEAUTY regardless of gender things, perhaps owing to national traditional art like Kabuki, Noh, or Takarazuka Revue. Also, I have to admit that we have a sort of patronage tendency in nature, and like to find promising talents and support them since their youth, for example, in Kabuki, Takarazuka, and even Sumo. Anyway, figure skating is the sport that stimulates our enthusiastic mind with its discipline and art including costumes, music, performance, etc. and thank God, now we have Yuzuru Hanyu, just like Tetsuya Kumakawa in ballet. Nothing can stop us from loving him now
  8. Yuma seemed not satisfied, but he got a pretty good score Yuma Kagiyama FS 160.63 Total 245.35 What a competition! He could not win gold with this score Results: http://www.isuresults.com/results/season1920/jgppol2019/CAT001RS.htm
  9. So many competitions to follow Tomoe Kawabata did great SP, but she must be unsatisfied with her FS. Her Lutz jumps are superb anyway with length and height. Moa Iwano does not seem to have overcome her UR issue, but I really enjoy her performance, and her steps are truly exquisite It was pity that Moa had to wait before the performance due to some technical troubles. Girls Results: http://www.isuresults.com/results/season1920/jgppol2019/CAT002RS.htm And, Yuma, now I'm pretty sure you can make it to the Finals Yuma Kagiyama SP 84.72 Looking forward to his FS tonight.
  10. Yuzumami was kind enough to compile the interviews. Thank you
  11. Maybe the last one? Wide! Scramble: With Minoru Sano's comment. HE BELIEVES 4T COMBO WAS PERFECT!!
  12. Additional News clips. Sorry, if already posted. Many scenes may be overlapped. Pretty mushroom Yuzu tells about his respects for Plushenko Every: Mezamashi Seven: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pf2-wb3_Quo
  13. This might have been posted, but I just found the upper right picture looks like a thrilling scene from a movie Toru Yaguchi is a photographer of Sports Hochi. Rough translation of the tweet: "I'm uncool today, but I still want to win, so I practice more." Straight and heavy words. I'm too afraid to say such words myself. He spins out them with a laugh, in a natural and unposed way. Yuzuru Hanyu is really cool.
  14. I should have focused on this. The last part is so cute Reporter: Beijing....Beijing..... Yuzuru: Year, Beijing, hahaha. Y: If I would lose, I should quit, that's what I think, quite honestly. I really don't like to show myself being awkward/unsightly. If I continue competing (till Beijing), maybe going after 4A, maybe going after quad of all jumps, I'll be competing, I think. I'm practicing now with that motivation as well. While I'm keeping myself strong, if Beijing Olympics are there at the destination of that path, everyone would be happy, I hope. (giggling) Y: What a clumsy comment!! Sorry! How many years (on earth) have I been receiving interviews!!!
  15. News Clips. 16. Girls, you did great Russians are too strong anyway. Nana Araki FS 122.75 Total 181.80 I really love her 3 Lutz Chisato Uramatsu FS 107.73 Total 171.32 Results: http://www.isuresults.com/results/season1920/jgprus2019/CAT002RS.htm

  18. Interview on NHK this morning. Article from SPORTIVA: https://headlines.yahoo.co.jp/article?a=20190913-00871150-sportiva-spo He has landed 4A with harness perfectly. WOW
  19. Fuji TV's figure skating videos, including the ones aired in Figure Skate TV earlier. https://www.fujitv.co.jp/sports/skate/movie/index.html Koshiro's muscles (Where's my baby Koshiro gone ) He must have been training so hard. Just in case, the one on YouTube. Koshiro and Satoko. (I know Satoko's muscles are beautiful too, by the way.)
  20. I want Lambiel to be Shoma's coach Just saying. https://headlines.yahoo.co.jp/article?a=20190907-00081989-theanswer-spo THE ANSWER with Lambiel's instagram: https://the-ans.jp/news/81989/2/?utm_source=yahoonews&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=81989_6 Kao Miura moved up to the 8th with his FS 125.56, Total 185.50 in Riga. http://www.isuresults.com/results/season1920/jgplat2019/CAT001RS.htm His 4T was exquisite, but his tried 4S (2S) and spins If he can stabilize other easier jumps, I'm sure he can have a chance for the podium. I want to go to Junior Nationals this year. It will be held in Yokohama from Nov 15 -17.
  21. YEEEEES!!! Rino Matsuike FS 126.62 Tatal 193.03 Results: http://www.isuresults.com/results/season1920/jgplat2019/CAT002RS.htm
  22. Poor Kao He did the first two jumps pretty well, but the final combo http://www.isuresults.com/results/season1920/jgplat2019/SEG001.htm OK, he can jump up the standings by FS. Just IMO, but he seems to need improving his spins. Anyway Sato sensei knows better than I do, of course. He might have a kind of pressure due to the results of Yuma and Shun. You know, they are called 関東三羽烏 (Kanto Samba-garasu - three crows of Kanto (area)) jokingly. 三羽烏 (three crows) is the expression Japanese like to use when we find 3 phenomenal persons in a certain field including sports. As well-known male skaters are mainly from west part of Japan (excepting T. Honda and Yuzuru, maybe ), these talented boys are received as a surprise. Although Shun was from Sendai (Tohoku area), he also have attended the East Japan Meet, and now he has moved to Saitama in Kanto actually. I heard they don't like to be called 三羽烏, but I'm not sure it is because they don't like to be called a crow, or just don't like to be compared Anyway, "BOYS, BE AMBITIOUS!" (by Dr. William Smith Clark) And, GIRLS, BE AMBITIOUS too!! (by me) Rino Matsuike is in the 4th, not so different from the 3rd in scores. Go for the podium by today's FS Rino Matsuike, SP 66.41 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jiZBKZtm6Qw
  23. YES!! Shun Sato: FS 137.93 Total 217.12 Results: http://www.isuresults.com/results/season1920/jgpusa2019/CAT001RS.htm
  24. Koshiro Joins Team Japan for Japan Open 2019 https://www.tv-tokyo.co.jp/japanopen2019/
  25. Now, Shun Sato made a debut in JGPS triumphantly SP 79.19 His skating seems to have been improved a lot
