keeping a new jump that has never been landed in competition before as an alternative is a bad plan. it's better to try landing 4Lz first and keeping the already stabilized jumps as back up if things didnt go as planned.
-
holy smokes this thread moves so fast, i finally catch up to people worried that yuzu upgrading to add 4Lz will simultaneously mean he somehow will neglect other elements, dont worry. that's just not how yuzu works he already said he's gonna try to improve on all elements for next season, steps and spins included. his desire to improve has never been solely about jumps either. remember how pissed he was when he didnt get +GOE on his sit spins? remember when he added that 4S in chopin SP he also added the hand movement in the spins? remember that the 3A-Lo-3S now has a spread eagle exit? remember how he made it that LGC is perfectly matched with the musical note and next season he'll likely do the same to his new SP? and how he wanted to search for music that suits judges' taste more? imo pretty sure this guy wouldn't neglect any. smallest. detail.
-
yeah i thought she will also put it in the SP, but apparantly she's only been training it seriously since last year so i guess it's still not that stable. even when she focused on the emotional/choreo part this season she's still fast... maybe they just wanna use it to grab the judges attention? i just hope they will strategize carefully and smartly because i still havent trust her team that much

i'm definitely on team that want to see yuzu skate to any music from Two Steps From Hell! their music is so epic (although sometimes i wonder if it has too much going on to be matched to a skating element lol) besides whats already been suggested, i love Blackheart. The violin is very lovely and i think it won't be the kind of "scratchy" sound when it'll be blasted in the arena. Sorry its just that sometimes skaters use the kind of violin (well not just violin actually) music that sometimes "breaks" in the arena when blasted max volume and it kinda hurt my ears. I also love Flight of The Silverbird, i remember he loves the flute in seimei, so. i must say that i'm really looking forward to whatever music he choose, because his music cut is so superb! i was always amazed by it

looks like wakaba will be including 3A in her free skate! http://www.goldenskate.com/2017/05/wakaba-higuchi-2/
-
ooooh nice! i didnt think about that. i hope you're right and this somehow relates to his program, but does that mean... feathers on his costume? just kidding (i like notte stellata costume but pls no more something like white legend )
-
wakaba has said that for next season she'll go with programs that highlight her strength more, which is her speed
-
there was that long video that talks exactly about this spins and the musicality in it, he hit exactly the right note on his arm movements and make it into a highlight the video is in japanese, its about him hitting 300 marks. i remember kenji miyamoto was there and he said that his skating this time is like he's the one that moves the music and not the other way around or something. its really lovely.
-
since he said he's focusing on all aspect of his skating, i'd really love it if he brings something new next season to his upright spins too, i dont want him to drop his biellmann though, unless his back hurts
-
it takes a very painful event (boston ) for him to realise it but i'm also glad he's taking care of his health now. about nathan, i guess there's also the pressure from his fed, and since he's known for his quantity of quads there really is only one way to go.
-
nathan has said he wants to quit and pursue medicine (i think?) after 2018, if he medals at olympic. so...
-
by the way, how long before the event yuzu usually come back to japan for ice shows? a week? 3 days? i really want to see part of his new programs, even if just a tiny bit is it really impossible that he will show it at FaOI?
-
i'm not gonna say it's not a threat but, the thing with shoma's jumps is that it only takes judges who are a bit more strict and it all crumbles. no amount of consistency can ever brought it back once he get called. unless he fix it. which is really hard. dont forget his flutz already get ! at world and e at wtt. with nathan, because PCs are given mostly for consistency nowadays, as long as he lands his jumps, he'll get it. and he already prove he can land most of it, shaky landings and all. so long he's not gonna have boot issues or his injury acts up. yuzu is smart. he will upgrade his layout and i hope he will get that second olympic gold. (and boyang to medal too pls)
-
it's not that weird that javi didnt know yuzu was sick during Nationals. as sweet as their interactions were it's not like they updated each other about their condition every other day. and aside from skating related activities, they have said they dont even hang out together....
-
so do wakaba get 2 spots for gp series? i hope she will put 3A in her programs (and maybe qualify for gpf, pls skating gods)
-
wait since GPF will be in japan, does that mean no open practice and we wont have practice fancams? nooooooooo ps: i love the banner too
-
as you guys said nhk and sc is too close, will he really be stubborn and still choose sc? (or more like, will he choose sc over nhk, his home competition?)
-
maybe it was also the case of yuzu original fans there leaving the forum... like the people here, and then made new ones on VK
-
I agree. the security and ticketing alone would be a disaster that i dont think a small competition organizer could handle (imagine a pooh rain there ) Not to mention the region practically having lost 1 potentially good skater to send to national because of yuzu attending. Although if he will be attending international competition at that time anyway, then it's a relief JSF make a stand.
-
yes of course. giving -3 to a clean jump is just impossibly ridiculous. i was just worried of him not checking that bullet. but even if he dont, he'll check other bullets and still get enough lol. it's yuzu after all, he'll get by some way. This reminds me: 1) unexpected / creative / difficult entry 2) clear recognizable (creative, interesting, original for jump preceded by steps/movements of the Short Program) steps/free skating movements immediately preceding element So.... what's the difference between these now for the SP? Err, actually, what was the difference between them before too (only for SP)... wait you're right. the requirements now only applies for the -2 GOE for not including it before *facepalm* i should have read this more carefully lmao anyway this only means no more -2 for not including difficult steps so it would really have no effect on yuzu :rofl2: i cant believe i got so worked up for this :rofl2: edit: to answer your question, it used be 'clear recognizable (difficult for jump preceded by steps/movements of the Short Program) steps/free skating movements immediately preceding element see here: http://static.isu.org/media/1003/2000-sptc-sov-and-goe-2016-2017_revised-july-14.pdf anyway after much thinking i think it shouldnt affect yuzu much edit2: wait it's still there! now i'm more confused... it's like 2 AM here i cant think i need to sleep edit3: Alia and team, thank you so much for that video  :goe:

-
This. If they just want to make it easy they could go back to just 'steps before solo jumps for SP'. 'Difficult steps' can be defined but 'creative, interesting, original' sounds so... vague. If only there is confirmation that 'difficult steps' immediately fill the requirement, i can breathe a little easier.
-
But that's for a 3A. That has no bearing in this rule; it only applies to the solo non-3A jump. Every other jump should be graded the same it has always been, solely on GOE bullets. oh i thought solo jumps in SP means 3A was included there. (backcounter 3A stays i guess) so... he might change 4Lo spread eagle sandwich? he used spread eagle sandwich since forever ago and some judges might think its overrated now... hmmm i dont know though i just hope the standard for 'creative/interesting' for yuzuru is not higher than the other skaters.
-
this could initially be for this. So people who do quad solo but no difficult steps wont be given -2 (and for some reason we could already see last season). But this could also be twisted to "doing difficult steps but somehow deemed not 'interesting' or 'creative' by some judges could receive lower GOE or at least not get the bullet checked". I know this sounds ridiculous. But they can get away with it. Just like a judge get away with giving yuzu's clean 3A out-of-nowhere a 0 GOE at 4cc this year. Especially to people who always comments on how yuzu's arms are not 'balletic' enough and skaters who just did crossovers but have 'beautiful upper body movement' have more chances on getting max goe. i sure hope judges not giving him more GOE on his world FS was only because they didnt like the music. sorry for being pessimistic but i'm just so upset right now
-
what the hell? changing 'difficult' to 'interesting'? its a requirement for GOE for God's sake it should not be THAT subjective.... can that even be called TECHNICAL score geez
