How many 3a<<(fall) have to happen before they drop this? She has zero elevation, she won't land it. Instead she lost gold medal here precisely because of that.

I really like mermaid Hana.:tumblr_inline_n2pjcy6tMv1qdlkyg:

The program has some great transitions. My favourite is really pretty kerrigan spiral - 3"lz"2t and hop-waltz jump-3s.:201111231756430f6:

This kerrigan spiral's actually very surprising, because Hana isn't the most flexible skater ever. :0

Overall choreo is really good for her. These big, sweeping, swim-like movements should (and already clearly do!) expand her arm/shoulder movements range, which was quite a weakness of her in past. And she has a tendency to rush her choreo, so slow, moody music, where she has to soften herself is a good choice.
And she isn't dying that much during StSq anymore, yay! Her knee bend got much better, good job! Now she seems to be adding more multidirrectional skating, choreo looks very demanding. The two twizzles with pretty arms at the beginning are my favourite.:tumblr_inline_n2pjczPRg51qdlkyg:

Dw4hHNu.gif

But the best part imo are spins. So well timed to the music, especially two combo spins. Hope she will be keep improving on them to add arm movements too!:tumblr_inline_n2pje2TPZt1qdlkyg:

Anyway, here you have 3a3t.

I really need it ice scoped.

Mao Shimada 4t

All Eteri girls dream about this axis and rotational speed without rippon. And a knee bend.

Though from this angle looks barely over an UR.

oE7pVX6.gif

Mao has already a lot of qualities, but my favourite is her core strength, which not only helps her to land this quad, but allows her to change positions on spins without loss of balance or speed. Her combo spin at Kinki was fabulous! People understandably love positions that require flexibility more, but imo such control is really underrated.:tumblr_inline_np9uqfzDd81qid2nw_75sq:

nHSdwWj.gif

Her ss still has a lot to wish for, but also not bad for her age. Not everybody is Marin Honda. Her difficult turns tend to have messy entry and exit edges or very poor coverage on exit edge. But outside of difficult turns she seems to be doing pretty well. There is also a part in The Queen's Gambit StSq, where music is building up and she is supposed to speed up and she has a cluster there. Quite ambitious. :0

Btw, did you know that Mao has pretty euler too.

from Gensan Cup

Qam9Vqj.gif

And I adore her black tutu. CUTE:tumblr_inline_n2pjcy6tMv1qdlkyg:

But I wonder if she won't change FP going to juniors. When changing FP from novice to juniors she needs to add one more jumping pass (a combo) and the program is longer, so it requires some rearranging. And in The Queens Gambit case it ended badly, because placement of another jump was switched, so she ended with 2 jumping passes on the left side of the rink and 5 on the right side. If half of the program has to be rechoreographed anyway, maybe it's better to simply get new FP? ╮(╯▽╰)╭

But I wonder if the plan is to recycle Lion King SP? I feel that she will recycle one of the programs for more confident start.

It looked surprisingly good for a program that was probably put together max 3 weeks before competition. Her Cindirella SP last season was much more uninspired (but still nice!). Or maybe I'm underestimating Cathy Reed WHO IS A GOOD CHOREOGRAPHER AND I NEED TOP SKATERS TO STOP SLEEPING ON HER. The tempo of StSq is quite hard for her now.

She is using Spirit + King of Pride Rock, so I can already see people losing their minds that she is apparently copying Wakaba, when in fact she is just a 12/13 yo girl skating to cartoon OST, lol.
