This. I'm the "just in case" type as well (although I don't carry around 5 different types of lip balms, but just because my finances don't allow it xD). I bought a lovely large bag at Don Quijote in Japan, and I carry it around with me everywhere I go: receipt folder (because I'm self employed), a small necessity bag with tweezers, lip balm, a small tube of face cream because winter kills me, hand cream of course, my medicated cream, even a small umbrella "just in case", wallet of course. It depends on the day sometimes as well. I've had too many occasions where I needed something only to find out that I hadn't brought it with me and I'm frugal, I don't want to have more than one thing of the same item.
