Ingredients for his pasta recipe.

Yeah-- no, they omitted sugar. He put a full tea spoon of sugar in it. I swear Koreans and their obsession with sweetening food that is supposed to be savoury always got the best of me when I was there. I had sweet fried chicken. There was sweet cheese ffs :curse:

I get adding sugar or glucose to anything that is spicy/has gochujang. The combination is full-on food science worthy. But you will not add sugar to my pasta, meats or pizza. Thank you very much.

Sugar is an important component of most barbecue sauces, or something like a teriyaki glaze,  but yeah, generally speaking these things shouldn't taste sugary.

Indeed, there are definitely sauces that call for it and it's good. I think I just got traumatised by the fried chicken we had because there was no sauce involved (apart from the dipping one) but it was the actual batter that was sweet. It didn't really go well with our cold beer :P
