Really really hoping it's day 1
-
I'm so conflicted. I don't want to spend unnecessary money on another 3-day test subscription for JapanTV if they re-broadcast day 3, but I want to spend that money if it's day 1 being shown 😅 I have streaming links ready, the only disadvantage to them is that the quality is lower than on the app and that there's always delay and buffering for me I've seen speculation that it may be Day 1, but also lots that it may be Day 3

You're very welcome. I enjoyed listening to those parts of the lecture again. It's amazing to hear someone knowledgeable speak about the talent young Yuzuru had and to see now where he is, how he evolved... Genuinely, I'm speechless.

I had the time now to look for the part in the lecture that I mentioned. Mr. Ambesi recollects meeting Yuzuru when he was 13 and practicing for a JGP competition in Merano, September 2008 - there he attempted the 3A for the first time publicly, but didn't make it. However, Yuzu landed it about one month later in a national competition (Yuzu might've landed the 3A before, though, but still - around that time). Later on in the lecture, Mr. Ambesi mentions that during an event (stage?) with other Japanese skaters, Yuzu saw Mao Asada complete the 3A in front of him. If she could do it, then so could he - something along those lines (maybe that's just Mr Ambesi speculating on what Yuzu was thinking, not actually Yuzu's words). Then, 1 minute and 3 attempts later, Yuzu lands his first 3A.

Do we know which Makuhari day it is?

ISU Congress 2022 (6-10 June)

So they first reduce PCS from 5 to 3 THEN they come up with the split judges into PC and TE sections... Why couldn't they just do it the other way around?! Meaning they could've tested to see if splitting the judges works and then make a decision of reducing PCS - which should've never happened. Also, what are they testing the splitting now for? It's not like PC scores are going to be SO HARD to assign now considering the reduction of requirements - it's just vibes. Almost literally. -

Aah, I watched this a couple of days ago. Mr. Ambesi mentions when Yuzu jumped his first 3 A, but I can't remember when. I cannot check right now either, but it's pretty early on in the lecture shortly after he talks about seeing Yuzu for the first time. It's somewhere around when Mao Asada is mentioned as Yuzu watched her 3A and realized he could do it too. About his first quad - I don't know and I don't think I saw it mentioned. Maybe in an old coverage back when he was preparing for the 2011-2012 season it's mentioned. This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].

The other day I have read a comment (I don't remember where) about Yuzu's insane edges and saves. The comment was made by someone who studied physics and it went something like this: Yuzu actually doesn't defy gravity, better yet, he understands it and knows it as well as his body and what it can do - which is a reason why he has insane saves on jumps anyone else would not be able to hold on to and why his edges are so deep. I think that's actually a more beautiful (excuse the exaggerated comparison degree) interpretation of Yuzu's skating, edges and saves. Of course, the running joke of "Yuzu defying gravity" still stands. But it was interesting to see someone explain what he does in a "scientific" manner. As examples, there were his besti squat 3A save from Faoi Nagoya Day 3 and his insane WTT21 3A save. For the former, he torqued his left shoulder hard and swung his weight outwards (something like that), while for the latter he used the weight of his left-free leg and hip flexibility to swing and counter-balance the weight of his upper-body. He has insane muscle memory and, frankly, I'm not even sure if he realizes what he does in the moment he does it.

Everyone should read this letter This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].

Now I understand why there was such a long compilation of various slow-mo Yuzu angles - I have to admit I wasn't patient enough to watch all of it

I can't imagine the happiness that must've flooded the Fanyus then
-
Oh, there it is! Thank you for that. Looking at the time for 26th, it really seems to be for FaOI. 19th is earlier than FaOI, though (that is, if live)
-
Yes, and because of the live theatre broadcast I have hopes that maybe they'll broadcast on TV too. They already have everything ready, they just need the timeslot on a TV station
-
Updated broadcasts schedule I'm still hoping that maybe we'll get another live for Kobe and/or Shizuoka - I can't believe how eager I am to spend more money for those

They are idiots. Maybe I shoud move this to the venting thread, but I think people should see this. All my life I've liked figure skating even if I didn't follow every competition, every season and did not know skaters. This year I was so happy to finally get into it as a fan. And everything is upside-down. FS next season is not even going to be FS anymore. -
This is about DoI 2021 Since the thread has been archived and I have no idea if anyone will see if I post there, I'm just going to ask here. How come there were multiple Masquerade angles from DOI Day 3? Were there more broadcasts from the same day?

Something about a FaOI documentary on YT at 20:00 JST

Thanks, that sounds exhausting though. I'm not even sure if it's a good thing or not (I'm still in the learning phase) -

I don't really understand this one. Can someone explain it in a "for dummies" sort of way, please? 😅 -

Is this actually better or worse? I mean, it puts an extra competition in the season, tiredness increases, wouldn't the skaters have to adjust again when they peak? -
I thought they were 2!! His hair stuck to his forehead in the slow-mo, in real time it didn't

Just post a bunch. I didn't even notice that during FaOI Makuhari I posted so much that in 3 days I leveled up from Mushroom to First Pancake 😂 Edit: Oh, now I'm Baby Swan - yep, just interact around the forum, it's fun

I thought he cut it really short after Beijing, but now I see that it's actually styled so that it looks short
