You’ve already said it all, in many beautiful ways. These practices are legendary, I cannot express how I love them. Therapeutic and healing, hypnotizing and providing some kind of closure - I agree. I was a super fresh fan when these comparison videos started to appear - his newest practice version of Seimei even more ecstatic, focussed, sharp, energetic, dramatic. He's wild, he's everywhere, he commands the rink. I love this little moment just before he starts the sequence, nods quickly, tenses up a bit, spreads his arms, his body prepares, then he’s letting himself go into this epic one minute of perfection that follows. All on a sprained ankle. So yes, I have been rewatching them very often since I saw them for the 1st time in my early fandom days. The first time I saw Seimei PC performance, I couldn't sleep. This unique and unforgettable energy of this program, the magic of this particular moment in time&place, his contact with the audience and the glorious context of him winning the Olympics the second time makes this irresistible to watch again and again. He's exploding with joy, during the final sequence every move expresses his happiness. At some point I finally found out the meaning of his happy screams. He was so ecstatic! Pure happiness and pride. I absolutely love it, I watch it every time I need a hyper condensed dose of joy. And in Beijing he was smiling

(leaving salty remarks in the salty mines) Some may have heard about the new ISU proposal to introduce a jump sequence that (if approved by the congress) consists of two or three jumps in which the second and/or third is an axel. Seems like we know who can master it.

Even more Rondo for Rondo lovers - 4 different angles, look at this combination! I can't get enough of it.

A video on how new vs long-term fans react to watching fs performances – reminded me when I first watched Beijing Rondo and thought “What’s the big deal about the jump? He didn’t fall, everything was beautiful, he should get a gold medal!” Wait until the last part. I thought how this is fitting into the PH anniversary theme – how new fans and “old” (more experienced!) fans are coming together in their admiration and respect for Yuzuru, together treasuring his legacy everyday and getting inspired by his struggles, his endurance and strength. @DancingFeather I really liked what you wrote, thank you!

Happy Anniversary! Thank you so much for this wonderful place. Although I've been posting here not even for two months now, it feels like home. PH has been doing wonderful work, a true contribution to celebrate Yuzuru's legacy. A wonderful community here, very grateful for being able to be a part of it.

He talked about it a bit, but this goes into details - a very difficult read. Also, the moment on the rink when he got injured, when he knew what happened - I have no words.
-
I agree. Let's hope it was much closer to Beijing, when his wounds - both mental and physical - were still fresh. This would explain the remarks about his ankle and these comments about how he felt he didn't meet the expectations (sigh, I just can't, he did, he actually went well beyond). I also choose to believe he wouldn't decide to attend all the FaOi shows with the ankle still in a bad condition with unclear prospects for recovery. Let his soul and his ankle both heal well.

Yuzuru's ways of communication?
-
@LiaRy This is my understanding, too. During the press con after men's fs a reporter said it was very unusual for Yuzuru to do a mistake on his 3A and asked what happened. Yuzuru said he was tired, but also said that the second reason was that he was confused by this prior practice of 4A, because there is a huge difference between 3A and 4A. I guess this is about differences in how the two jumps are approached from the beginning, the take-off, etc. So because he tried 4A so many times, his body remembered these attempts more than 3A plus he was tired which added to confusion. Although I also liked how he was just like: you know, I practiced 4A so many times, so I just forgot about 3A, I'm that cool A way to use this opportunity to place a Hanyu label on 4A, because why not

Thank you! When watching it without any knowledge about fs and stsq or choreo the program and the performance seem beautiful, ethereal and effortless, full of emotions and simply breathtaking. After learning a bit about skating skills this comes as a masterpiece packed with difficult steps and transitions, the famous almost non-existence of crossovers. This would normally deserve a WR. We only saw it performed twice, think what this programme can potentially be if he improves it, and brings it to an even more impossible level. I dare to think we haven't seen it all yet.
-
Exactly, he would communicate perhaps to let others plan for the next season. I know things may change and he's got every right to reconsider, but we are one small step closer to seeing him competing again. Very happy news to me as well.

I click on the dots on the right hand side of the tweet and click "embed tweet" and it takes me to a page with a link. Here is the costume in colour: EDIT: It would bring the already glorious contrast between his arms and waist to another level & the high collar would focus on his neck. I also like the dark nighty colour palette and I can try to imagine the effect of the contrasting sparkles on the fabric.

@Yuzuwinnie here is the full transcript from this brief clip - in English - you may have a better translator: "Speed and power are impressive, but how do they achieve it? Do they achieve it by poor technique? By running? Taking many, many runs, many crossovers? Those who can produce power & speed magically, with little effort, and quietly, are those that should be rewarded the most. We have all seen some extraordinary skaters who can achieve speed & acceleration with just 2 or 3 strokes. They have mastered the perfect part of balance over the blade”

Chen Ying's commentaries Beijing (PC recalled in the thread): Another take on pre-gala practice (the one with other skaters) - he's always extra, plus his spins always so satisfying to watch (wait for it!): @Geo1 thank you for the whole story!
-
@EisElle just wanted to generally say thank you for your long posts with explanations of the past events, developments and contexts: you're giving the insight that is sometimes difficult if not impossible to achieve only by reading press materials or watching interviews. @shina07Welcome! I've been posting here for a little bit than a month but it already feels like at home. I also recommend the wiki sections - for example, it took me a month to fully read the whole "Great Glittering Glossary", cause I was opening all the links and then the other links that were on these linked pages, etc etc (a rabbit whole effect, always happens when it comes to Yuzuru!), but it was a great journey though a whole decade (and beyond) of Yuzuru, his skating and his fans' joys (mainly) and heart attacks sorrows (sometimes).

Thank you! They even made the side-by-side comparison and the guy's movement are matching Yuzu's pretty nicely especially towards the end xD Great that some things are resurfacing - nice opportunity for the new fans to catch up.
-
This is full of laugh&love! I loved the pooh slide on the ice after the end of the performance - super funny! I've also read somewhere this comes from 2020 (Halloween?) but cannot confirm.
-
Thank you, so much @Saawa for this wonderful compilation, must have been a lot of work!

Another he's-better-than-ever video from this monster level series of practice performances. He's boosting energy, he's wild, he's everywhere at the same time, he rules the rink and conquers the ice.
-
So, FaOi it is! Perhaps this means that his ankle is recovering well... The only performance I consciously waited for so far was Beijing gala, so I will be very excited. I wish I could go to Japan, but it won't be possible this time, hopefully, this will be broadcasted somewhere.
-
"The heaven, the earth, and him in the middle" - when I got to this point in the text, I had to pause reading. For me by far the most touching piece I read about Beijing - it's written from a perspective of a person who was a fan/admirer already before Beijing, so it was completely different for me. But somehow I can totally relate.
-
Thank you! I’ve read the whole thread and I wanted more... Very grateful to these fans for sharing their beautiful memories. Some written in a way that I could almost feel the magic atmosphere and got chills. Even when watched on TV, he does have an aura and incredible presence on the rink, so I can only try to imagine the real-life experience. Of course, this melancholic feeling of missing out comes immediately, together with the silent hope that Yuzuru will perform, perhaps in Europe. If this happens, and in whatever form, he can for sure count on at least one more new fan cheering for him from the audience.

“Guys, look at this, look-at-this. He leaves the ice right at the take-off, he doesn’t do any pre-rotation!” (..) This is actually insane, this is not even normal”. “This is what you should be pointing out, this is the best technique that I don’t think other people could possibly do” This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].
