  1. Thank you so much - this is all really very helpful. Coming to this as a new person I can only tell this does not make any sense at all. Not "fanyus" but the other fandoms look desperate in trying to redirect attention to their idols by all means, envying we're so many and not getting that even the 10th title the other skater is getting (I'm sure there is more for him) won't change our minds. It's not us who are hysterical here, but it looks like they are. Cause they can't explain this massive fandom that Yuzuru has. Which is purely because of his skating and personality and no one inflated this (unlike the scores for certain skaters).
  2. This would be really great. We need more stories in high profile media that would have outreach to those who make decisions. Stories, materials in mainstream media, all of this again and again to argue that we've got a serious problem here and that justice should be done. The type of impact that people like Massimiliano Ambesi can have - this guy is really great, he's got the knowledge and the passion, he can communicate all of this to non-experts demonstrating his competence but at the same time getting emotional and passionate about it. @Henni147 this is amazing work that you're doing, thank you!
  3. The internet is packed with love for him and people sharing their warmest and deepest feelings about him and his skating. Odes and poems sometimes, some really know how to put this into words. Even more after this Olympics and I only hope that he is aware of all the magnitude of love, support and gratefullnes.
  4. Thank you! Exactly, fans may not be even mocking or calling names, still the other fandoms get "offended" if presented with facts or detailed analyses. This often happens when people do not want to accept information that is not in line with their biased viewpoint. One indisputable fact is that Yuzuru Hanyu simply draws more and more people to him (this is quantifiable), hence more people commenting - also offensive? Other fandoms or fs community may be even more puzzled this has been happening during and after Beijing, where he didn't win, because one could explain that at least the last time his fandom grew cause he became this magnificent legend winning his second OG title. And yet, this is happening again and again, and especially now. Multiple stories like mine everywhere - ppl declaring they didn't know his name, nothing about the hype, nothing about fs, watching something random on tv until they saw him on the screen and when he started skating got immediately drawn and the world stopped for a moment and yes, I watched that competition until the end on 10 Feb.
  5. Thank you! Will do so, and then also will look for the threads. Also - I guess too late for me not to dig into the rules & fs, I may be a baby fanyu growing up too fast! Getting to the point of developing a masterplan, haha. Just can't help it, whenever I see injustice.
  6. Absolutely! Do you have any posts/materials with rescoring? Definitely something I would like to dig into. Although I may want to take it further and engage in discussions, as the more I read and watch and learn the greater the urge to do something about it.
  7. Thank you so much for these comments - these are important for persons like me who learned about the existence of Yuzuru Hanyu less than a month ago and perhaps need some more background information. Part of what I've been doing since then is catching up, watching and rewatching his performances, and this is when I sometimes forget how to breathe, but the other part is about studying, researching, getting some understanding about the situation with ISU and unfair scoring. I get my information here and on Twitter I follow the users @roselinewinte10, @lunnarias and @Henni147 who are doing excellent, informed analysis and evidence-based argumentation. We could all find our place on the platform depending on our resources, capabilities, whether we're better at conveying emotional messages or using sarcasm and humor, or studying, researching, analyzing and presenting objective information and facts. I would probably ally with the latter crowd, but need to study before I even know how to ask proper questions. Thank you, again!
  8. Hi Everyone, I've never posted before (only lurking), so first of all - thank you so much for this place, it's simply amazing! And I wanted to make my first post about something I really feel strongly about and it is exactly to stress how much I agree with all the above. I have been binge watching and rewatching all Yuzuru's programmes for the last three weeks and I am absolutely convinced he has improved in many ways - his moves, his transitions, his control of the ice, a detailed response to music, jumps looking even more natural and embedded in the artistic vision, the cohesion, sophistication but also the execution of the Tenchi programme is simply stunning. The comparison of the final sequence of Seimei is also very illustrative of his improvement - in the newer (practice) version the moves are sharper, more ballet-style and dramatic, and yet harmonious and natural, he seems to be more confident in claiming the space and responding to music, and together it generates so much energy and quality that these little performances (and especially Seimei) are so rewarding to watch.
