  1. It really does! Complex emotions, none of them negative much; but still!
  2. Thank you @birnasan as usual! One thing I would like to also remind satellites is that translation takes time to be fully released (especially with teams like axelwithwings, who proofread it before publishing whole 1hr stuff), so although is good we are getting already the idea of some important questions and his answers, is also good to take everything together instead of apart. Good to see Yuzu finally being able to verbalize something many have already came the conclusion to (despite his betterment he was not being rewarded for it), but I would just refrain of implying there’s a single catalyst reason for his decision of retirement. He mentioned some important things during his presscon as well, let’s take everything together, I think it will paint a fairer idea of what he tried to convey to the media and his fans.
  3. I think someone posted the japanese source of this already, but reiterating:
  4. Skating Hong Kong posted the full short program they’ve been posting pics from! 2004/2005 Novice Championship, enjoy mushroom Yuzu already displaying good skating skills! Also, for anyone who can, download it and leave a comment on the video itself!
  5. Adding Marika’s translation to @JanMary’s post:
  6. For all Beijing fanyus, I thought what this fan shared was really sweet, a very romantic, complex way of looking into this journey: I know this doesn’t completely manage to trump what many are going through, especially the fans who have feelings of regret for not meeting / knowing Yuzu sooner. But may this baby cfanyu feelings also reach you, you are all now fans since the very beginning. So many new memories are about to be created! Let’s all continue to share in this journey
  7. This is for all of us, manga readers: God, so many non skaters, I’m losing TRACK
  8. I agree… won’t get too much into it, because everyone is processing this in their own pace. But I rewatched some of those FaOI interviews now. And yeah. We projected quite a decent amount I think (me included). Within this new context his words still sound very much honest, is just that we were not pry to his inner thoughts (obviously LOL). Anyway! Hope our translations teams take their time and do their work with a good headspace, because going over this type of Yuzu content is also taxing for our working fanyus. On top of translating being a delicate job in itself. Thanks to them! Agree with @Yuzurella as well (which I usually do, I noticed lol). Thank you @LiaRy for articulating your thoughts! i think these ideas for showing support are lovely, and nothing you said appears to indicate that you’re calling for action without considering fans’ own feelings!
  9. More nice commentaries, please let me know if someone already posted! I seriously need to archive all these japanese personalities’ tributes and commentaries; I saw people making threads for the skaters and coaches, but Yuzu’s impact on his country goes beyond it. If anyone already started saving them please let me know 😅 This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].
  10. Also, if anyone wants hd pictures of Yuzu: Nice of them If you go to the link, remember to click on the pics, there are archives there with 20 pictures of him, including 2012 Romeo 🥰 Many of these pictures can be found on pinterest or similar places, many quite iconic, but the quality here is much better. Have fun on memory lane! This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].
  11. Adding another translation to what @Anni already posted; What a great message for younger skaters by the way, healthy mindset a mentor could share within a competitive (and one that has so much depth as japanese skating), cutthroat environment. “Trust yourself, what you are feeling”. This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].
  12. Yuzu’s official message on JSF site: edit4: Translation from our dear Marika! [NEWS] Yuzu’s profile on JSF has also been deleted. Thankfully I have screenshots of the latest updates hehe Edit2: So his visit to JOC/JSF was to probably cancel his registration with the institutions. Edit3: Actually, ANA sent the request to JSF, formally. So Yuzu now is officially under ANA, not JSF, they are the ones taking care of all his discontinuations. Oh. This made me giggle.
  13. OMG, I was about to share this, as a LatAm fan I’m beaming!! “When we commented with / to Yuzu about the enormous quantity of fans he has in Latin America and the community of (figure) skaters that grow every day in our region, he got really surprised and didn’t hesitate in thanking them sending some words of motivation. Today, with the recent news of his retirement from the competitive world, we want to share this special message and also demonstrate our support to his decision. Thank you Yuzuru for all that you have done for our sport, for bringing it to new limits and for continuing being an inspiration and motivation for all. We wish you the best in this new phase / era as a professional skater, it is an honor to share the ice with you. We are sure we will continue to see you shine and amazing us with your actions / performances! You are a legend!”
  14. Annual virtual watch parties are a great idea, I hope we can implement them soon enough @LiaRy and @Anabel, especially for us who might not be watching figure skating much anymore. Who knows, maybe we can even check Yuzu’s inspirations - other athletes, musicians… or this is just a plot for me to convince people that Blinding Lights is ✨not cringe✨ LOL Thank you @citrusjunos for your post, really appreciate your thoughts in this forum, and you help us process it with you as well! As for future plans and speculations of his motivations… I think even newer fans are now aware how unpredictable Yuzu is I can’t remember a single time where the english speaking online fanbase predicted something and he went through with it. He has been very ambiguous since JNats, and now we have confirmation from his mouth that he thought about stopping competing for a while. He took one season, one batch of comps, at a time. The fact he kept JOC/JSF out of the loop of his final decisions might speak about how he was not willing to communicate with them, not necessarily that he changed his mind abruptly, I think. Also, big things happened in Japan recently, he might have had to hold on calling the presscon for a couple of weeks. I will certainly miss some things about seeing Yuzu in competition, but those are things I have been missing for 3 years already… Surely we can still send him gifts and show up with banners! But honestly. At this point. Do we really know what he is up to? LOL I’m just at the passenger’s seat following this madman’s tour. But I am excited to see good skating for years to come, that’s really a silver lining in all this~
  15. Ahh… what Lae shared is so ah, the new Nishikawa commercial [NEWS] we are really not stopping!
  16. Hope someone is recording this! Hehe This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].
  17. @river I’m not sure! There will probably be a proxy service that can take orders tho! Heh. Yuzu already set up a new logo for himself~
  18. I’m so sorry everyone, but my faves posted so I need to share and I looooooove their little comment This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].

  20. Newspapers for today in Japan hehe This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].
  21. My favorite free skate of his, glad we share the taste Yuzu This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].
  22. I was about to post this! There we have it, no half words. He knows his scores tanked, we know it as well. We also know he got better. So. Processing this, this really was the healthiest path Yuzu could have chosen really. 10+ years staying on top of competition, paying attention to diet, his body, the pressure… The reality of it was not rewarding, not like this. I’m glad he can say all of this with his own words.
  23. Not exactly “coping”, but I’m feeling better than I expected. Relief most of all. Only started to feel the tearful emotions after seeing some musicians posting their tributes. The way Yuzu has impacted people beyond the fs world is truly outstanding and speaks volumes about his legacy, is above the sport (in his country for sure). Like some others have said here, and whoever was lurking in other threads saw me, this is a conclusion I was expecting in a way. Doesn’t make the closing of this chapter less bittersweet, but I do feel like I’m in a position where I can feel more excitement than sorrow. I also really enjoyed what he said. We have still tons of interviews to watch and catch up, but he has been quite consistent in being himself, separating himself and his craft for the mess fs was becoming, and now we have an idea that the whole thing truly made a difference in his decision. Still angry at some media outlets. But overall just basking in the realization that I’m truly going to continue following him wherever. There’s no doubt in my mind anymore, while before I was just making a promise.
  24. @Muffinator I think Yuzu should be kept out of this, at least for the year or so. Don’t think his management will want to join in this right now regardless.
