I’ve been considering Yuzu’s Beijing practices my own comfort videos for a while, but got inspired by @ZuCritter and @citrusjunos to share with people offline. I don’t know why I doubted that these videos in particular would be “interesting enough” for the non-fans, because for a lot of us they are like listening to a remastered album of an artist’s best hits, they don’t have the context of a full album (the anxiety of the competition, the story behind the program, what’s at stake etcetc), but who says you cannot get into a musician through their best work? Not sure if my analogy is even appropriate, music is a entire different world, but you know… My anecdote is that some friends of mine were actually more interested in the beijing practices than in the stressful performance ones, to my surprise, so we ended up talking about him and gushing over his form and skills in a day I did not expect to bring him up at all. Lots of process as a fan in this post Beijing period, and not all negative hehe.

Here just to bask on Yuzu receiving continuously love all around, thanks for the satellites for providing these fluff links. Positivity around him always triumph the negativity, by miles, so is very nice to be reminded. And is some sort of reality check for me too haha FaOI is coming, can’t wait for threads here and on twitter~

My first giveaway participation yay When did you become a fan of Yuzu? I came to watch the Sochi Olympics as a Team Canada and Yuna Kim shooter, having spent the previous months catching up on the sport and enamoured with a lot of the programs from Vancouver (except Men's lol). Pure heartbreak that whole event, but I did came out of it with a huge impression of Yuzu. I knew about Japanese skaters, but he had some serious gravitas that stuck with me. I checked on him on and off later on, not watching many comps live but keeping an eye on highlights and people's favorite programs. The build up for Pyeongchang was so intense, Chopin Ballade made him my favorite skater ever. I was so proud. When and why did you sign up for Planet Hanyu? I used to check news about the sport through Tumblr and another forum, but a little irritated about how I couldn't watch more fluff (interviews and etc) about the Japanese skaters. Read somewhere abt the birth of PH and bookmarked the place so I could always check the translated videos. Only made a proper acc post-Beijing because I needed a Yuzu safe space to share my feelings abt this whole quad lol Did you make any irl friends through Planet Hanyu? Not yet! I haven't been here long. I do have "online friends" who watch fs, but that was through twitter. Have you participated in any group projects on Planet Hanyu? No, but I would love to participate. Did you attend any meetups with other satellites at competitions? No ice rinks competitions in my country so no Next year I think I can manage it, looking forward to. What do you like the most about this forum? So very organised! Clean layout, easy navigation. I also really like the community here. Would you like to participate in the giveaway? Yes, I would! Agree, I rather wait and hear it from him. Like the user tsuki from the twitter thread also mentioned, I dunno why lots of fans convinced themselves that Yuzu would be cryptic abt this, it doesn’t suit him at all. I think these messages are very standard sport support talk. When he decides for retirement he will call a presscon, will be a big deal. If he decides to stay competing we will hear it in a more lowkey fashion, seeing his on gpf assignments and etc. I think for now he just wants space.

Hello, welcome all new posters! Good to have new people (like myself haha). I’m not sure how the adms set the rules, but you can bring this subject to the salt mines / ranting thread, where people can dive into more details abt what we perceive to be injustice in fs. Posting this on here can derail the conversation quite fast, and just to avoid negativity and keep it to a minimum I think. For the sake of your question I will answer here that no, Yuzu is not the only one and hasn’t been historically*. Figure Skating is a judged sport and as such is bound to have issues like these, like gymnastics. The way the score system is put in place and how they are awarded / manipulated is the issue. For current skaters I usually point to Mikhail Kolyada (Misha K), Deniss Vasiljevs and Wakaba Higuchi as ones that do not receive the PCs (one of the performance components in scoring) they deserve. As to why, where and how, better to move it to another thread Will just leave one linked video that is not comprehensive but give a general idea: And yes, he is the Mozart of the sport right? Lol A once in a lifetime athlete for sure. *trying my best to keep my inflammatory opinions out of here.

JSF released a list with the intended national team for next season: (It is a tier list related to funding) Since Yuzu is the current national champion he is naturally there. Warning that this does not mean he will 100% compete or anything, it means JSF has the intention of working with and promoting these athletes specifically next season. Oh wow, what a gorgeous design @Anabel and @Pammi !! It does look a little bit more like him right? Lol Sorry Yuzu for keeping you in a box~ I think he has A LOT of input in his costume choices, at least a final say, so I imagine the insistence in some consistencies (cool / cold colors, the usual black pants, cleavage and backless…) might come with at least his own taste. We have not seen him competing in dark colors as well right. Who knows… I get you hahahah I missed the chance of seeing him once, will not make the mistake again (years ago tho), but I’m not sure if we are going to be the same after the experience. For what is worth, the place will be filled with fans as well, so at least the excitement is shared haha

The only thing I have against this costume is that it doesn’t look like him too much… is way too covered? Hahah Maybe if it had sheer fabric on the back… But is very beautiful, people speculated (given Satomi’s previous words) that this would fit a heavier song, like GoT type of music piece. Hope we see it in a ice show or something.

oh wow, this trailer video actually made me a little emotional hahaha wonder how did they put the "documentary" together, will check it out for sure when it drops - I like this channel, good source for jump knowledge. Of course is because of his age, but seeing video compilations like these shared here does reminds me that Yuzu "grew up" as well... his face is almost the same (teeth and cheeks are the only give away), but is nice realising that we had the opportunity to watch him mature. ANYWAY. Feeling like a older sister here lol
