I don't think it's official. Skaters staying for the closing ceremonies can also practice. But since he's still there and he feels good enough for a light practice, I'm guessing he'll participate in the gala.

Folks on Twitter are writing that it's normal for a non-medalist to hold an individual press conference. I guess it's been so long since Yuzu didn't medal that we've forgotten. There could still be some sort of announcement in store but it could also just be a chance for the journalists who didn't win the lottery to ask questions.

The NBC commentator in the men's halfpipe final said about the score on Ayumu Hirano's second run, "the judges just grenaded all their credibility...try to tell me where you're deducting from this run... It's a travesty." Max of course brings the same energy but I wish other figure skating commentators would do so, too.
