  1. Rather than a friend, more like an acquaintance that Brian might like to keep up good vibe with. lol. It is not like one can just reject guests, so, the people within must act smartly/accordingly if they want to keep secret. Moreover, if one feels uncomfortable with someone, they will tend to act more restrain even in training. Personally, from the discussions that seem to happen behind the scene among trustworthy (I mean, those who are not in the media to just share gossips) coaches and experts and athletes, I tend to believe 4A has been landed, but inconsistently, that for some perfectionists, it is not deserved to be shown to the public as per this moment. By the way, 4A is more a quint jump, it is not too far-fetch to think, that maybe... training quintuple jump is actually a way to help perfecting 4A. lol. Training 4Lz during ice shows, more likely because he feels that there are people whom he can ask for opinions and points of improvement.
  2. Well, I AM happy that TSL people aren't the one to see it first. It will be totally annoying if they happen to see him training to it. I mean, we fans are annoyed with them and it will be heartbroken to have those people see the 4A before fans do! On the other hand, I am glad we've got good report on his cond. I re-watched his World 2019 performance and it is really noticeable that he's got weaker constitution there compare to prior performances. Edit. Sorry, apparently it is Doug Haw's report. Well, if you think about Yuzuru's training schedule and body condition, it will be more reasonable for him to alternate training goals.
  3. Guys, could please send me link for ASAICHI interview part 2? I have the google drive link, but Part 2 folder is emptyy...
  4. For such a prideful person, to ask autograph from someone else, it is not an easy thing so I think he genuinely admires Yuzu as a human being especially bcs he says that Yuzu has great character, even praising Yuzu's parents thinking that his parents must be extraordinary ppl too. From what I ve seen, Raf is just that kind of guy. He praises and insults in the same breath and he is genuine with both (praise and insult).
  5. I am convinced that these coaches must have something like Crazy Skaters's Coaches Anonymous Club. That is where they share their load about skaters under their care that will not stop achieving greater heights while risking their life.
  6. There is also the Romeo & Juliet persona. And he IS inspired by Johnny Weir. He seeks to portray beauty that appeal to feminine side, and also appeal to masculine side, and it is successful. Even culturally speaking, such goal is not unprecedented in Japan, as you know, there are Onnagata, and onnagata actors are males who portray feminine beauty, and they study it thoroughly to be able to portray feminine attitude that is attractive to male audiences (unlike drag queen culture). I think in some western societies, such prospect might be borderline disturbing. Lo behold, that is part of what attract many fans, majority of them female! No wonder some guys got insecure because their macho attitude cannot attract women as Yuzuru dignified attitude can.. True story, a friend of mine who is very handsy and flitry with girls is actually a gay guy who tries hard to be straight and is secretly obsessed with my male friend.
  7. Tbh, my sister and I and some friends, we like to discuss on whether some guys are straight or not base on their photos and videos, to hone our gaydar so to say, so we don't develop crush on the wrong person. We more often than not get it right, and base on our experience we can say that guys have bad gaydar. But it is not something one should claim about someone that they don't know personally. We can only say that he might be gay or he might be straight. I can tell you, that my sister really really can read a person well through pictures to the point that they thought she has some sixth sense and she is going to be recruited for intel. But even then, she KNOWS that such reading is unreliable because there are so many history behind that photo. Anyway, there was a discussion several thousand pages ago. Guys with different orientation find Yuzuru a little bit of a temptress, they find Swanyu attractive/sexy/smth like that. And they might project their smidgen of attraction on him by blaming their attraction on Yuzuru being a bit of a show off with his more delicately attractive side (therefore, gay) without ever knowing the background of his culture and education and family. On the other hand, his outfit IS showy, a little bit on a feminine side, he has a very particularly elegant body line. If I show it to my father, he will say that Yuzuru is gay. But I won't take him seriously, because he is often wrong about it. Some guys just unconsciously using gender stereotype judgment about it. (Edited to delete speculation about a stranger sexual orientation).
  8. I would prefer if they use the song with costume and choreo that give a nod to Yuzuru's program rather than something like this. It will feel more creative and not an on your face tribute (or maybe I am biased with Yuzuru's tribute to Weir and Plushenko since Otonal and Origin is a very classy tribute that successfully avoid comparison btw his program and their program). But anyway, glad to see that ppl already making tribute to Yuzuru, while the person is still challenging himself to a greater height at his age and with all of his accomplishment.
  9. Wow the Seimei one... considering it is a very very unique song to skate to.
  10. Crazy. It will be something if he does revolve 4.5 even if it is not landed perfectly. Considering what Yuzuru Hanyu think as landing a jump is heaven to earth compare to what most people think landing a jump is (flawlessly, effortlessly, with complicated seq/transition), I honestly belief that he does land it more often than not.
  11. Omg I saw some confession blog and sone1 is saying that we fans are whipped cos we like Yuzu's recycled program and we should expect better from him! CACKLES! I personally WANT him to recycle programs! Improvement each time! Are people thinking that this is entertainment or idol biz? This is sport comp ppl, therefore athletes aim for perfect 100% score performance not new or fresh release that one can just wing it! 🤣🤣🤣
  12. This is gonna be a long musings. I apologize before hand ufufufufu. So, preparing for ACI, I watched all of Yuzu's performance in the big competitions (GPF, Worlds, and Olympics, starting from his very first senior comp.). And I just realize that at the beginning, he was thought as not very artistic (emphasizing much on technicalities and jumps). It is amazing how in 2012 - 2014, 2 Quads and 8 triples in LP are like so great but nowadays... Anyway, he already has the talent and potential in musical interpretation, but, in such kind of sport, the body which is demanded to do spins and jumps and everything else cannot always translate the artistic aspect of the choreography too. However, the more he perfects his technique, the better he tunes in to his artistic side (as in, he can show off his artistic side better). It translates to an ease and fluidity in his programs. Unfortunately, I don't feel them in Origin and Otanal, and I am so very hopeful that he will recycle both programs because for me, they haven't reach the highest potential YET. I don't know, when I watch him perform those programs in three diff. competition, I keep having this sense of "it really can be better than this, he has not perform them to perfection." Maybe the judges all think like me, that they just CANNOT help but put him in such a different standard because they know what he can do (and already did). It is unfair, but it is what it is. If only there is a competition specifically made for Olympic and WC podium winners. I think, the times he spent off-ice and off-competition needing to rest and rehab really cost him his fighting spirit. Made worse by the condition of his injuries, the sense of finality (since he already won 2 OGM), it seems for a moment he might be thinking, "Oh, is this my time?", but somehow, after World 2019, and seeing his passionate performance in FAOI, it seems to me he found it already, his passion to pursue perfection and prove it to all the judges esp. Because he is a maniac, isn't he? He wants to reach it, technical omnipotence, so that he can show his artistic excellence without sacrificing his techniques (because isn't it his conviction? that one will not reach highest artistic quality (or smth like that) without excellent technique?) A performance that no one can find fault in, a perfection in all aspects. And it is true too, without great technique, watercolor painters will only create mess --> that is why artists practice everyday, as much as possible, experimenting with different techniques and tools. I think for him it is a good thing. I hope being reminded that there are still so many things he can pursue makes him care a little bit more about his conditions and injuries, that he still has goals and he needs to hold one by taking care of himself. And he might know that the judges are kinda leaning toward one or two skaters, and therefore he is a man on mission, to achieve performances that no judge can fault. "I want to be an absolute existence, that even if all other competitors have performed to their best, they will still think that they won't win." --> this is his vision now. And its GREAT even if so manga-like that I am sure he reads too much sports manga in his free time. But it is something he can do. On the other hand, we ARE lucky to be Yuzuru's fans. Yuzuru's figure skating is not all about technique and skills which demand a lot from his body. A commentator once said, in case one erase all the jumps in his performances, it is still something great, and it shows in his exhibitions. He is beautiful on ice, his movements and body lines, his fluidity, his interpretation, his physical beauty... you know, even if he r****** from competition, I am sure he will still perform in Ice Shows, and it will be even more attended than WCs, we can still see him live if we want to. So many competitive skater r**** because of injury to become pro skater and coaches. Anyway, it is very exciting to see what he will offer in this season that will begin this month. And I really hope that all will be well, the he can perform to his heart content in the body which can sustain it.
  13. Tbh only people with crazy determination would do it like him. Most will get fed up with practicing the same thing over and over especially if they don't feel good enough about it, and it usually destroys the performance in the long run. Best that can be done is revisiting old pieces and interpet it with new feelings, outlooks, techniques. However, since Yuzu has a very unique way of doing his things, he can do it. Unless one has the kind of determination he has, they won't be able to keep doing the same program each season. It tends to ruin the music too.
  14. Guys, guys, guys, I am so new in this fandom. But I just want to drop here, that actually I started getting interested in Hanyu is because of his Seimei program in Olympic 2018. And it immediately struck because it was inspired by Mansai Nomura's Abe no Seimei (from Onmyouji), and I watched their interview. It does not register yet, though it is immediately apparent to me how tentative, diligent, and intelligent of a student Hanyu is. And then I watched the NHK Trophy 2015 of Chopin Ballad, and Johnny was saying that that was the first time Hanyu skated it clean. Then I watched again Mansai Nomura's interview/discussion with Hanyu. And WAOW it is GOLDEN, because now I can see the big picture, Yuzuru Hanyu's learning process, and even THAT moment, when he found a way to perform those programs best. I watched his hallmark performances, and I think, that he really took it to the heart, Mansai Nomura's wisdom, because there is a kind of arresting moment of stillness in his programs... I couldn't quite explain it, but it is not as frantic anymore, more serene, more patient, more suspenseful, since 2015. And it really really reflect how traditional Japanese dances and theatrical performance are. One wisdom that Mansai has bestowed upon Hanyu, is to be able to create those moments, in which, even though the audiences have watched the performance before and many times, will engage them always => suspenseful moment, by applying particular hand gestures, or unpredictable choice of maneuver, etc. Well, now I am going to lurk again.
