  1. I finally landed a (really ugly) single Axel today and shocked my coach. Sending good vibes to Yuzu's 4A.
  2. JNats!!! The whole thing was a roller coaster ride. 1. Breaking News: He is on the entry list! 2. Will he go or will he withdraw? 3. He gave a new photo with Ultraman pose! 4. He is having 2 new programs! But what is the music? 5. After 1st official practice: What is the music??? 6. Hyperventilating during SP 7. Ugly crying during FP 8. Still hyper during gala
  3. Every revolution that could potentially harm the ones in power is hard to implement, but if we start the first step and keep working on it, we may succeed in the future. Even if it doesn't apply to judging, it may still be a great tool for training and the data from Yuzu's skating/jumps are invaluable.
  4. This is so true! My personal highlights in Seimei are the cross-rolls, hydroblade and Ina Bauer. None of these are super difficult per se, but it is how he did them that makes a difference. I think the best artists are those who can make technically diffcult things look easy like Yuzu's jumps, and make technically easy things look enthralling like Yuzu's hydroblade.
  5. Although I am constantly worried about the risk of injury, him YOLOing is one of the reasons why he is so captivating. He is always aiming for the stars. He is self motivated and never forgets the dream he had when he was a kid. He never loses his spark as a certain someone suggested.
  6. Today in the changing room of my rink, there were several teenage girls watching Yuzu's WTT SP and FS. They were fangirling so hard and kept saying "his legs are so long", "he is so handsome", "the jumps are so high", "the spins are good", "the 3A save is crazy and let's replay that"... I wanted to join them so badly but I was too shy...
  7. Whatever his 4A condition is, I will just wait patiently until he decides to show us. If they really ratify a 4A like this, I will proudly convince my coach that my underrotated attempt is actually a textbook Axel lol.
  8. Thanks for your encouragement. May I PM you for tips? Similar to you, I wanted to be a figure skater since I was a kid, but my mum thought it was too dangerous and didn't allow it. I only started to learn figure skating when I graduated and got a job to pay for my own skating. (She still dislikes it whenever I go skating now though.) It is true that most of my Axel attempts don't end up falling, just lacking in rotation, but I reckon that the speed and force of my singles are incomparable to Yuzu's quads, so I won't be surprised if Yuzu falls a lot on 4A. Regarding the 1000 attempts, if I can land my Axel after 1000 attempts, I will be very happy as it doesn't seem too much to me. However, based on previous interviews, it appears to me that Yuzu usually lands things right away, just needs time to stabilize them. He landed 3A at the 2nd/3rd attempt, landed quad on the 1st day he tried, maybe drilling them over and over again just to land something the 1st time isn't what he is used to? On the other hand, impact from 4A attempts must be taxing on his body too, so he probably can't just keep throwing himself to it and 1000 may be too many.
  9. As a non-athletic adult beginner, I've been struggling with single Axel for a few months. Axel seems like a totally different beast than other singles. I landed a single (f)lutz on the first few trials and have all my other singles stable, but Axel still seems so far away and out of reach for me. I usually spend 1/3 to half of my time just throwing myself into it, probably have dozens of attempts every training day, but all of them are either falls or underrotated to downgraded. It feels that I am getting better at it gradually but it is still so far. And I sometimes wonder if I can ever land it. Following Yuzu's journey to 4A is a huge motivation to my 1A.
  10. As a person who uses zoom every day at work, the zoom picture with "Hanyu Yuzuru" almost gave me a heart attack.
  11. Yes, I was on Twitter. I still remember I was refreshing Twitter madly but it was a total silence for a while, then the messages appeared but all of them were about how everybody died.
  12. I almost thought that you meant he knew he looked too hot in that costume, so he had to switch it to prevent a massive heart attack incident....
  13. Regarding the watch, I like the design of the 1st one more and feel like there isn't enough Yuzu related design in this one, probably because they don't want to decorate men's watches too much? However, I have a larger bone structure and longer limbs, even though I don't have much fat/muscles around my wrist, narrow watches usually look ridiculous on me . (I haven't worn a watch for years though...) I hope they will release a wider female version next time .
  14. I don't think it is our place to speculate on Yuzu's relationship with his coaches. Despite his cute appearance, he is an adult man who can skate by himself at this point. If he found no value in the relationship with TCC, he wouldn't waste money on that. Like every other relationship in the world, they may have their ups and downs, some misunderstandings and miscommunications occasionally, and Brian isn't always the best at PR. However, even during this pandemic, Yuzu still keeps his ties with Brian and co, so I believe in them. Regarding the question if Yuzu could succeed without Brian, nobody knows. We are shaped by all the people around us and you can't just take away some of them to ask what would have happened. Yuzu might have met another great coach or he might not. The only important thing is that TCC has contributed a lot to Yuzu's success for the past 8 years and Yuzu is still naming them as his coaches. P.S. I am pleased to read Brian's nice words about Yuzu.
  15. This is so hard and it certainly depends on my mood, but I will try: 1. Seimei 2. Chopin 3. Ten to Chi to 4. Notte Stellata 5. Masquerade 6. Let's Go Crazy 7. Let Me Entertain You 8. Requiem of Heaven and Earth 9. Hana Wa Saku 10. Haru Yo Koi Honorable mentions (so many lol): Hana Ni Nare, Parisienne Walkways, Hope & Legacy, Romeo & Juliet I, Origin, Hello I Love You, Vertigo, The Final Time Traveler I considered Hana Wa Saku and Hana Ni Nare similar level before but the recent performance forces me to promote the former
  16. I know this is a super unpopular opinion... I never understand the appeal of of anyone, not even Yuzu's.
  17. I block all the antis on twitter, don't post anything and only follow very few people. I didn't even know about those toxic comments until I read posts here. When I first discovered Yuzu and joined the figure skating fandom, I got very upset whenever I read antis' comments and I was shocked to know that some people hate Yuzu, who basically has never done anything controversial. Then I realize that every successful person has haters, who don't have anything better to do with their time. Now, if I come across a toxic comment, I consider them a joke and enjoy a good laugh. As what Yuzu said in a post PC press conference, the records and history Yuzu has made will remain forever. The support and love Yuzu gets will not be diminished by propaganda.
  18. How is he not relevant? Following their logic, if the new Worlds Bronze medalist and JNats Champion with 2 clean skates 3 months ago, who is never off podium since 2014, is irrelevant, I wonder how many guys are relevant in men's skating. Those people don't understand why he is still competing as they think that winning should be the only motivation. They don't understand that there can be more in skating than scores and medals. 4A is what he wants right now. Will he land it cleanly in competitions? Who knows? I certainly hope so, but even if he won't, why can't he talk about it when he is asked about his motivation? Do all the skaters who talk about their OGM dream get an OGM? Is it OK to ridicule them if they don't realize the dream? Sorry but that comment really angers me.
  19. It is because Yuzu is the only guy who regularly gets over 300 and even 320 sometimes in recent years except Nathan. Unless Yuma or others like Shoma get these scores, they have no other choices. And Yuzu brings ratings and clicks.
  20. If Yuzu goes to SkAm and IdF, he may complete his GP gold medal set. I consider CoC cleared by Helsinki.
  21. Agree. It is clear from his practices and in his skating, he has inproved so much since 2017/2018. I am happy that he is pleased with this too. There is no end in chasing medals. He has achieved more than enough in terms of them. Even if he gets a 3rd OGM, there will be more young skaters coming up. 4A is a personal goal that is irrelevant to these. I am glad to see 4A training seems to be compatible with his other jumps now based on his practices. When the media hypes a "future star" up, they always talk about how old he/she will be in the next Olympics, how good their chances will be. Skaters, including baby Yuzu, always talk about their Olympics dream. It is hard to stay motivated after one OGM, let alone two. I am grateful that Yuzu still has his dream and graces us with his skating.
  22. Yuzu's goal before competition was to get 3 spots and go home healthily. He has done his job on the spots and the only thing remaining is to stay healthy. I am sad as he had great practices. I am worried about his mental state and wonder if something went wrong. Nevertheless, getting bronze at worlds is still amazing. I hope that he can be proud of what he has overcome this year and whatever might have happened before the FP. There were moments in the past where I fxcked up so badly that I wished I could hide from other people forever. However, after some cooling off time, I can look back at those moments with a smile. I think it is the same as these great skaters, though I can't possibly imagine Yuzu's pressure. It hurts during that competition but some bad days don't define their glorious career. 10 years from now, Yuzu will still be remembered as 2 (or more) times OGM and super slam winner, not 2021 worlds bronze medalist. I believe Yuzu will get over it, with support from his family and friends.
  23. Ice show producer CiONTU is gold in every aspect
  24. Just a rant... After witnessing how some skaters behave during this pandemic, I can no longer support them emotionally even though I liked their skating. I won't hate/ shame them, I just stop caring anymore. I am glad that my favourite skater of all time never disappoints.
