Why don't they skip all the previous comp results and go for the all important ISU Best Costume Award.

No OG, no gpf, no 4cc At first, I thought they were saving space or something dumb like that but then they proceed to list his inquiries. Meanwhile, they make sure to list Chen's (team) bronze and fifth place finish. I know this is probably the work of some underpaid overworked intern but still, its the freaking Olympics. Get it together people.

Call me petty but now I want Yuzuru to go full on Japanese for both the short and the free. Just to shove his Japanese-ness in the judges faces. How about a medley by Arashi? Extra points if Arashi's own Sakurai Sho has to interview Yuzu about his "musical selections". I may die laughing. FYI for the non-Japanese crowd this is Sho. Only in Japan can one be an pop idol / rapper / actor ... and serious news caster? Or One OK Rock if we want to keep a harder rock sound like LMEY. I want to see the fans rock out while the judges remain clueless. And we know Yuzu knows the words.

And please give Boyang an Olympic skate he can be proud, regardless of where anyone places.

That's the one! There's a book, anime (and chibi version), manga... and audiodrama version. Because if you're gonna do a story you might as well do it in every version known to man. All that's left would be a high school musical. Theoretically there's to be a third season of the anime in the works, if that's of interest.

One thing to keep in mind is that the audience at home watches the NHK footage focused on Yuzu. A skater at the other end of the rink would be focused on his own work and not watching the others. In such a situation it takes time for people to realize something has happened. And they wouldn't be able to see Yuzu or Han close up like we do at home or know how serious the injuries were. Also the skaters would be aware that medical staff were nearby to deal with the situation. It's not like seeing someone injured on a deserted street and no one else is around. They knew help was on the way.

Exactly. Like if someone injured their neck or spine you wouldn't want to move them right away without, say, a neckbrace. The procedure is for the skaters to clear the ice and let the medical professionals handle it.

Maybe they got assurances that he is winning one of them? Then again Japan is mad for figure skating, we're in a drought, and they're desperate to take what new content they can get?

And now I'm picturing Surya, cartwheeling down the hallway in skates, busting down the door like a bad ass and taking the other judges out with a crossbow while they're on the toilet. As you do. Just a regular Friday night out.

Random thought that entered my head today: Six judges and three nominees for each category. What if you end up with a three way tie? Seriously, tho - have they said if the judges deliberate or do they just mail/text in their ballot? Presumably they can't all meet in person what with the current situation but do they talk or just vote and hope for a clear winner. How do you break the tie? Judges Quad battle? Dance off? Or do they just arm wrestle??? The more I think about this the sillier it all becomes. At least it will be over soon.

Precisely. We have the Olympics, Worlds, GPF, World Records, and World standings. And Yuzuru has won them all. We already know who's best of the best.

Lovely, ty Tho I was actually aware of the variations. It just always struck me as funny that there'd be an obvious pause where the commentators would check their notes for the skaters names and still get it wrong. And Javier is such a common name. Ah well still better than Tara and Johnny.

Eurosport guy once called Javi "Xavier". How even? There's no "x" in his name. Oh and they also called him Javert a la Les Mis. ,

I hate to admit, and yes I know he's a grown man, but I worry about his asthma. I'd heard reports that last season he was wearing not one, but two heart monitors, presumably to track his asthma. He's an elite athlete, so he's in peak physical condition, but still I'm glad there's someone living with him to keep an eye on his health, especially with the ongoing covid crisis. Please protect the precious boy, mama Hanyu.

Like Sho Sakurai (櫻井 翔, Sakurai Shō) one of the singers in the pop idol group Arashi. He is also a newscaster and interviewed Yuzu for the OG I 've recently fallen down the Arashi rabbit hole, never to be seen again.

I somehow read this as ToshI's foot painting...and thought "It doesn't look anything like a foot" shorty followed by "Maybe he painted it with his feet" and only then did I realize it was the dimensions It might be time for bed.

Except originally the awards supposed to be part of (ie interfere with) the gala, which won't be happening this year, so how do we know what it would really be like. Honestly I wouldn't care if it was some side event like the small award ceremony. It would still be a joke but it wouldn't mess up the gala.

Did anyone ever figure out what happened to the old necklace or did he just decide to go for something new after all these years?
