On the risk of 4A, if he can learn to if he pops, he only pops it to 3A or 2A at most, he can still make up the BV difference by swapping a later planned 3A into a quad in either SP or LP.

I am watching his interview after Makuhari first day broadcast today and he said the opening 4T he did still need improvement as it is not even at 20% of his ideal. Yet the 4T he did, whilst had a slight tilt, was still a landed 4T with a high kick. And this is less than 20%...I am really starting to think 20% Nessie includes twizzle entries and high kick exits too, nothing to do with landing %. As for 100%, Im guessing probably involves him growing wings and flying to the stratosphere, and only occurs in his own dreams

I recall reading something about Mishin developing some sort of gadget you can attach to skaters to measure the amount of revolutions they have completed. I wish he would hurry up and complete it so that those chronic under rotaters don't continue to get away with it. But ISU just passed rules to reward URs, so it's highly unlikely they will accept using this gadget ( as otherwise how can they protect their own darlings )

Oh yes this Helsinki interview was the one I was talking about where Yuzu made it clear that 20% is when he is ready to introduce a jump into competition. So the next time he say Nessie is at like 15% we know its time to brace ourselves soon.

Sorry to break it to you guys ... But the 4A at the end of day is only worth one mark more than the quad lutz， yet much more difficult to succeed. To get an absolute advantage on BV, he actually do need all of 4lz, 4f and 4A as he aimed himself, since he can't rely on judges to necessarily give him the GOE and PCS advantage anymore (they more than proved their bias at Worlds already). Although once he stabilise any two of the above jumps, he can start thinking about leaving out the 4loop as that jump is hard, dangerous yet not much points.

I recall he actually said in an interview (although I can't find which one anymore) that when a jump reaches 20%, he is ready to put it in a competition. Hence, the relevance of "it hasn't reached 20% yet" in this recent interview, because that is what he is aiming for. Now by 20% I don't think he meant probability only, but more so a combination of probability and quality. given how strict he is on himself, I highly doubt he personally considers any of his jump to be 100%, so his 20% may be more like a 40%~50% by someone else's standards. And he doesn't need to have over 50% success rate for a jump in practice for it to go into the program..for example the 4loop last year success rate in open practice was actually pretty low (he popped it a lot), but he actually managed to landed it in all three competitions that he tried the jump, to varying degree of quality. It will be the same for 4A. If there is a good chance to land it, I don't see why not for him to try (but keeping safety in mind of course). But obviously he won't be going for something that is going to become 4A<< like others who have tried.

Both last year and this year, based on the competition, on paper, Kolyada should have easily podiumed. The fact he didn't last year really isn't Russian Fed's fault. I actually think the fact men competition is weaker (knock wood) in SC and NHK compared to the other stops is Russian Fed's doing, since I don't believe Japanese Fed cares to be nice for Yuzu (they sure ain't nice to their own girls allocation)

That was my concern originally as well, especially I don't think Yuzu was throwing shades at judges, so glad Max understood he could be causing Yuzu trouble and deleted it. The skating world is small, had any judge saw it and misunderstood would not be good.

Well he clearly said he skated on the show (not practice) Masquerade right after getting choreography hete. And this coincides with him saying that he was going to skate Crystal memories originally on the first day but changed to Masquerade last minute. In the interview he said Crystal memories took a day to choreograph with Wilson coming to FaOI and another day to polish so he clearly had that prepared first. But no wonder Brian was amazed that he could still remember all the choreography from when he was novice and junior CWW..He has super memory!

But have they already submit their choice since the ISU meeting is starting already, or they are only submitting today? Because the nationals date only just got announced unless skaters were told in advance.

The timing of Japanese nationals this year is so close to GPF that I honestly hope Yuzu doesn't choose or isn't allocated NHK...It will simply be too much. I never understood why Russia and Japanese like killing their skaters by placing nationals so close to GPF. Russia at least have Euro for reason, but 4CC is so far away Japanese nationals can be held later in time.
