This is so distressing! He was so close to the competition too😭. I hope he recovers well to achieve at least some of what he wants (4A in a comp). Guess I'll skip watching the NHK....I dont want to be subjected to talking heads pushing Yuma as the new "it" boy or all their hype talk of rivalry and BS drama that doesnt exist. I may peek in to watch Shoma though...

I feel they'll still gl through with the Olympics. Given that Tokyo forged ahead, I wouldnt be too shocked if China was sacrificing CoC to put more focus on the bigger event. Then too, given how things have been lately, Im not sure if the politicians will accept that Japan could do it, but they cant/wont-even if I personally feel postponing would be fine. As for seeing Yuzuru. Noope. Faith is gone to see him compete live. However, faith in seeing him in a Fantasy on Ice or some ice show? Alive and well.

This has been done a lot prior, you could read the thread, it's only a few pages back. My take? I dont hate him. Yes what he said was dumb, and people can be angry. I wont tell someone how to feel, but I do not hate him. I think his apology was genuine-writing it out doesnt matter to me. He is in a case of being damned no matter what he did. People scream apologize-and he did-and then the split into factions of: it's not genuine because you didnt speak off the cuff (which got him in trouble in the first place). Proceed to bash him and demand apology and gleefully wish for him to fail. 2nd faction: he apologized-still mad and upset, but moving on 3rd: confused. Disappointed. Trying to navigate

I still do, I wont go after someone for writing an apology out. Some things I'm seeing are beyond petty, it's toxic. It's really hurtful to have people say writing an apology out means it's fake...I write mine out due to private matters. It helps me keep thoughts organized and the main talking points as focus. I wont tell anyone what was said wasnt bad, but the suspected writing aspect I cant even....for scoring I solely blame I*U and judges that facilitate lining each others pocket. I get resenting on the matter of not living to the scoring. It does leave a bitter after taste :/. which is why we stan Yuzu lol (on a happier note)

Not just you. Even if that were the case, any Olympian or elites of their sport could boast the same, and if they do, why not? They accomplished something most of us wont. If someone wants to be cynical and see it under one lense, you cant stop them, but then I would hope they take that same cynical logic for anyone in sports or the arts. I am seeing a lot of cynicism lately, as expected, but even still, there are a lot of people you could apply that bleak outlook onto.

Hasnt his thesis been done for a while? Someone, please correct me if I am wrong. If it has been, then why is it only now blowing up? The timing seems a bit off for it to only NOW gain so much traction, and he made the topic of his thesis no secret...I'm definitely being paranoid, but I find it terribly suspicious. Are those in the ISU and judging world planning to use this as justification for a media hit piece campaign against Yuzuru going forward? When JW and TL chime in...that will confirm it for me. God I hope I'm just overblowing this. The next season already seems to be heralding in rough waters ahead.

As mentioned above by others, I fully agree it is a statement and to me, a clear sign he is paying attention to what is being said about him. I think it is as much to shut up the talking heads, as it is to show competitors he isn't slowing down. This will raise pressure in its own right to them to start working. Sooner or later, he'll do it. As one European commentator mentioned "try and catch me, but you never will".
