  1. I'm reminded that someone today posted (?in the Memes sub-forum) about Yuzuru being told by Mr Orser to go away and play more (ie do more FaOI shows) so that Mr Orser could have the time to sort out everything to do with all of Yuzuru's friends that Yuzuru was inviting across to TCC...
  2. No surprises. Eteri's recent comments are a fantastic exhibition of her authoritarian streak. And what happens when she perceives a threat to that.
  3. NBC a bit behind the news? And despite being behind the news, clearly haven't done their research to update themselves of the whole story (eg to realise that an official statement was forthcoming, or to even wait for that official statement)? Or did they just buy the story off the TASS translation? This is journalism nowadays...and the free media is supposed to be one of the last bastions of democracy... Bear in mind that Mr Orser has himself stated that it takes time for his group to see their work with a skater come to fruition (I seem to recall a year and a half was what he was quoted as saying). So Zhenya may have a rough time results-wise over the next year or two. Let us not set expectations too high...
  4. Thanks. Strikes me that there is definitely a heck of a story hidden behind-the-scenes, which Eteri has alluded to already from one perspective. Zhenya is very much taking the high road and trying to avoid dragging herself through muck...undoubtedly Zhenya will earn herself much kudos for that...
  5. Apologies. But any hope of an English translation?
  6. This cannot be coincidence. What on earth is going on at Sambo? I would've thought it's a bit unusual to essentially have a mass exodus of known names from a club at the same time? It smells of rats fleeing the sinking ship?
  7. If that happens, I'm reminded of a stage actress once telling me that they sometimes only have up to 30 seconds to strip and change costumes between scenes (or even between stage entrances during the same scene) just out of the audience's sight on the edge of the stage. At least Mr Orser has a bit more time even when two of his students are going one after the other! And at least the men's event is held at different times to the women's event. Otherwise he really might have to put his skates (back) on (please excuse the pun).
  8. Not just RIP his baggage with one more jacket. But also RIP his hair I would imagine... Does Mr Orser need to start looking for wigs, Propecia, or scalp-reduction surgery, ala Mr Trump?
  9. To be fair, some of it is about Boyang as well, and a few scattered posts about a few other skaters. We can't blame Zhenya for all 57 pages!
  10. The King of Ice and Queen of Ice together on the same training grounds. And for the record, I absolutely do NOT mean it in terms of shipping them. I think that's absolute rubbish, and wrong to be suggested; and fervently hope that people will keep such thoughts to themselves and NOT subject either Yuzuru or Zhenya to such comments. Leave their personal lives alone!
  11. Might be part of what the Russian Fed insisted on. Part of the bargaining, to ensure that she continues to rep Russia (or for her to ensure she is allowed to continue repping Russia). No surprise that she would want to keep repping Russia - you would not stand up in front of the IOC and plead the case of the OAR contingent unless you were a fervent believer in repping Russia.
  12. What a fantastic statement, despite the vile comments she had been subjected to. The Google translation of some of that statement is interesting (bearing in mind potential inaccuracies, so any Russian speakers take on these would be great): "I hope that the time will pass and everyone will understand that this was the only possible option for both of us" Only possible option? Sounds like there's a story and a bit there of something going on for longer... "First of all, I want to thank Eteri Georgievna Tutberidze and the entire coaching staff for a long, fruitful, sometimes very difficult work." Difficult work? That could just be Google translate, and later she did say that she was driven when needed, but perhaps there were other difficulties? "From her I got many life lessons. I will remember them all my life." Not least of all that sometimes, someone you trusted and someone you have worked under/for/with can end up treating you like crap. I wonder if the double entendre was intended? "Also, I wish all the children from the Eteri Georgievna group, the greatest health, patience, diligence and sports longevity." Interesting she mentions longevity, given Mr Orser's comment that Eteri made mention of recently (and selectively [mis]interpreted as Mr Orser insulting her). And I wonder why she would wish the other kids patience? The statement reads extremely diplomatically, but with so many possible alternative interpretations. I acknowledge that part of it may be the way Google translated it, but there's an element of passive-aggressiveness in this statement in my opinion.
  13. They do say that patience is a virtue. And some things are worth waiting for - eg Yuzuru's return to the Olympics from injury and jumping on top of that podium!
  14. I would not be surprised if she somewhat expected this unpleasantness given that, reportedly, the ultimatum from Eteri to Zhenya was for Zhenya to retire. I would not be surprised if it were true that Zhenya had not kept Eteri well-informed of her plans when faced with this ultimatum (would you?!) and that would explain Eteri's complaints that she knew nothing except through the news - there may be an element of fear from Zhenya as well, given the reported authoritarian ways of Eteri (let's face it, Eteri's recent comments in the media exhibit authoritarianism), so any plans that Zhenya may have had that were contrary to Eteri would have been kept by Zhenya under wraps for as long as possible. Of course, that's just speculation based on what numerous other reports have suggested, and is just me joining dots together in what may otherwise be imaginary lines...
  15. I do think it's a translation thing because the comment was that these young girls COULD lose their quads as they mature in their body shape. Eteri seems to suggest that Mr Orser was saying they WOULD. That suggests it is all a misunderstanding, unfortunately.
  16. This article seems to suggest an official announcement has been made? And it may be a "lost in translation" thing, but it really doesn't paint Eteri in a positive light, but rather, as someone who gets slighted easily? Shame, really. Mr Orser doesn't seem to be the sort who would openly criticise and be negative of other coaches and athletes, but rather voice his concern about the well-being of athletes in general. http://tass.com/sport/1003055
  17. I've read reports on two Russian sites that seem to suggest (albeit with Google Translate, which may mean there is something lost in translation) that Ms Medvedeva was encouraged to retire.
  18. I wouldn't bet on her students "seeing" what is happening - given reports that the club and fan groups are eliminating photos and any references to Ms Medvedeva...rewriting history so to speak. I would not put it past them to be putting out "fake"/"biased" news. It's like partisan politics, and when you are part of a group that's been indoctrinated, anything said to the contrary is taken as a threat to the gospel. Just look at America and the beliefs that Republicans have re Democats and vica versa - and that's in a democratic system where free media is enshrined, let alone in a system that has no place for any media but sycophants...
  19. I hope Ms Medvedeva takes the high road. (Attempting to) destroy her former coach is not going to do anything other than feed a short-term desire at best, potentially harm long-term goals, and just drag herself through muck.
  20. There are photos to show that with women he (presumably) knows better/well, he doesn't seem to use the "hand hover". So that would be suggestive it is about manners and respecting the personal space of the opposite gender. I've not seen any photo where he seems to use the "hand hover" with other guys, whether he (presumably) knows them well or not.
  21. Having read the article, it seems she really took Mr Orser's words out of context didn't she? Maybe a translation issue? Seems a shame if that's the case.
  22. There were Russian media reports that Ms Medvedeva is splitting from her coach, because she was basically told either to move or to retire.
  23. In other words, the rumour mill is going into overdrive... I feel sorry for these athletes...
  24. To be honest, I'm not sure it is necessarily that great a "price", if only to keep their teaching philosophy "pure" and "intact". Why fix what ain't broke?
  25. I think I'm a bit behind on the news in this respect, but I thought that the original news was that it was short-term, and it was as much to take advantage of the choreographers who work closely with TCC? I thought I had read through this whole thread, but clearly I've missed the posts that suggest (or reference reports that specify) otherwise...
