But notice she did not mention Lizbet....
-
He would definitely be able to go incognito in Toronto.

I thought someone said that it was indicating funding only? If not, that is odd as juniors is already a blood bath and seniors only really has Zhenya and Alina. Would they not want gubanova and pannekova to battle it out with all the rest of them for that 3rd spot? But in a way this is good doe Polina T as she is now really competing with Maria, Elena R(?), Anna P(?), Eliza T(?) and the one that bombed at worlds (can’t recall her name) so she at least had a better shot. I really like Polina T. However I am a Med fan all day long though

They were pretty complimentary about the award, the really catty one (can't recall his name) talked about how come the gymnast Uchimura hasn't one the award as he and Hanyu are equally masters of their sport. They are super excited about Evgenia's move and they loved her interview with Olympic channel - they thought she was very well spoken and mentioned something about her being the Katarina Witt of this generation. They didn't care for the music for Yuzuru's EX nor the costume but they readily admitted that they were not the target audience. They waxed very effusive about his GLORIOUS 3A though!
-
I don't think they said where she was moving to but I do remember them saying that it was mutually agreed upon that she would be going... Yeah i think as a team Raf vs Eteri vs JPN ladies is the real battle. Gabby is still super inconsistent except for that one season and really Evgenia is the only real contender in ladies that Brian has....
-
I watched the first half of the video and yes they mentioned that she was leaving... they also talked about Brown moving to Orser, Evgenia's Olympic channel interview and her development. They also talked about Hanyu's award, his EX and his 3A Then I stopped watching, will continue later on...

Yup Javi was also in a really bad state when he went to Brian from Morozov so there's that as well... Javi and Yuzu are in totally different positions within the pecking order so to speak so I get why Brian didn't ask his permission because at the end of the day really Brian is the one that runs the coaching staff, he doesn't need anyone's permission to take on new students. The wording was odd and flippant but he may have a reason as to why he did it this way (I don't know what those are but look at the way he and Yuzu's team masterfully handled the media in PC with regards to Yuzu's injury - never giving away and appearing fully confident). I am almost 100% certain that that they talked to Yuzu before accepting all three students - that fits with the TCC modus operandi
-
Yes!!! The voice of reason
-
I think it’s fine - I am sure he didn’t literally just throw it out. I am sure that Yuzu was consulted. Brian has always spoken like this in very casual laissez faire terms. What he probably meant was that he spoke to Yuzu about it and Yuzu didnn’t really care either way. At this point in his career he know he is the alpha dog and I wouldn’t think that he would begrudge Brian setting up TCC for the future. That’s what the Jin move is to me - to have a marquee men’s FS that is a genuine contender for OGM in 2022 in the scenario that Yuzu decides that he is done competing. This move tells me that perhaps Brian thinks it is unlikely that Yuzu is going for 2022 but if he does then TCC wins as they’ll now have two contenders
-
I think we just look at it and think wow that's a lot of skaters and Brian and the team are usually very good at making sure they don't take on too many people so there's got to be people leaving.... and if anyone is going to go on the Ladies - she's the most logical choice... at least that's my reasoning...
-
Javi is only going to be part time, Raya is likely leaving and probably Lizbet as well. I think Brian will be the primary coach for Evgenia, Boyang and Yuzu. Jason will be coached by the "team" meaning Brian just oversees and makes sure things are going smoothly... so maybe not as "crowded" as originally thought
-
Yeah could be but I thought I had heard that CSA doesn't normally do announcement of coaching changes or confirmations... just struck me as weird that's all... and kind of points me in the direction that maybe there is a bit of a hybrid coaching situation happening.. who knows...
-
Ok interesting... with the Med and Brown moves Brian posted about them on his FB page with a welcome to the team post but nothing for Boyang. Does that mean anything?
-
Ok disregard the first sentence of my post then but everything else I stand by 😏
-
Really?? I thought Jason was 24??
-
So my two cents: Jason Brown is a year older than Yuzu so there is less of a chance of him staying the whole quad. I think TCC taking on Boyang (assuming it is a switch not that hybrid situation) essentially guarantees that Brian/TCC have a contender for the 2022 OGM regardless of what Yuzu decides to do (i.e. skate for 1-2 more seasons or stay for 2022). If Yuzu does't stay, less of a chance of Brown doing so. Realistically speaking Brown is not a contender and unlikely to be 4 years from now. With the Boyang move, I see this as potentially less confidence that Cha will "survive" growth spurts and possible positioning of Stephen for 2026? Regarding the ladies - I think Lizbet will leave (she really hasn't progressed at TCC), I'm unsure about Gaby and how much longer she will stay - I think it depends on how she does this season as she's been fairly inconsistent and it's not like she is upgrading tech every season....Brian doesn't take on students that he doesn't think TCC can improve or has potential so he definitely sees that in Med. Risk / Reward is big with Med, if he is able to take her to a couple of WC and an OGM then he prestige for him/TCC will be HUGE. Even if she doesn't make 2022 but is able to get a few more GPF and/or WC it will still be huge for the club. I think personally he is a fan of Med - she may not be the most talented but of all his students (except maybe for Yuzu) she definitely has the strongest will/mentality. The mental part of sports is equally as hard or maybe even harder to train so she's got that side down. One thing he knows he's getting with Med is that she is NOT going to beating herself...
-
This is also a good move for TCC and Brian too. I remember reading somewhere that Brian is a very ambitious coach so I'm sure at the back of his mind is the that Yuzu may only skate for 1 or 2 more seasons (unless he decides later on that he wants to go for a 3rd OGM - which I'm hoping he does BTW) so developing Boyang for 2022 works in both scenarios. Boyang with better SS and PCS would be a threat for a 2022 Olympic medal if Yuzu is going for a 3rd OGM and if he isn't then Boyang would be a threat for OGM in Beijing along with Stephen G. Then he's got Gaby and Evgenia for the ladies
-
hmmm.. yeah that seems a bit odd. Plus with the Evgenia move, we got confirmation from RusFed and then interview with Brian but maybe because it was a much higher profile move with all that business with Eteri... I hope it means he's relocating to Toronto to train permanently at TCC
-
WOW WOW WOW... BOrser is collecting them all! Team Orser for the wins next season!!! I am so excited for Boyang (and Evgenia too). I think they'll be heading to Toronto at around the same time. Boyang and Evgenia were hanging out quite a bit in Korea at that ice show. Did all the deals happen in Korea???!!

The best costume
-
Wow that is FUGLY - I definitely wouldn't spend $ on that... What's the expression money can't buy taste LOL

The article was fluff piece as most of these things are. I think it is amazing that he is the only FS solidly in the top 100!!

Yuzu made it on to the 3rd musk ESPN world fame 100 at 70. So impressive for someone with no social media presence all all. The list is full of football and tennis stars that all have very big social media presence. Here is the link: http://www.espn.com/espn/feature/story/_/id/23519390/espn-world-fame-100-2018 my other lifetime face Fed is at #5

I see your brekkie and raise you my Nespresso latte, piece of dry toast and the remainder of my kid's half eaten Eggo waffle

I am leaning on the side of increasing the age limit for the purpose of driving training changes so that the girls are taught techniques that can stand the test of time and puberty as opposed to relying on fast rotation and tiny bodies. In addition, I like the idea of longevity vs peaking at 15/16 for 1-2 seasons and then poof career’s over.
